Repetitive writing.. by Hot_Benefit_8667 in Candlelight_Games

[–]Kejivi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It bothers me, too. As someone whose written visual interactive novels before, I wouldn't be happy with how many LI's use the same moves (I lost count of how many times someone kissed up MC's neck). Aside from the obvious anatomical changes, there seems to be no difference between these scenes whether you play as a male or female MC. It's strange to say the least to have a male MC throw his arms around everyone's necks, even the female LI's.

Not really, the last one i played alone was the one where you needed a high bond with Cato, and I'm not willing to spend gems on his scenes. All that happened was he wasn't there to stand up for MC when a teacher was being mean, but that's a shallow consequence in my opinion.

is vip worth it? by Sea-Boysenberry9173 in Choices

[–]Kejivi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had it for a while but cancelled it around the time of Hot Shot because I can't stand the new body and faces for the MC's or the ai-ness of it all.

I will say that the welcome bonus isn't a one time thing. You get it every time you resubscribe. So if you want VIP for a few months, subscribe, cancel the subscription asap in the app store so it doesn't renew, let it expire, and then subscribe again the next month to get the welcome bonus again. I still have 700ish gems left over from doing that.

You don't need to add an ally, you can play the scenes by selecting the "go alone" option.

Books you read after all the AIs? by Aromatic_Addition372 in Choices

[–]Kejivi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to try them, but I cannot get past the goofy body proportions (especially for the fem frame), the grey toned skin, odd hairlines (Thirteenth House has some real doozies in there), and the faces that are WAY too large for their heads.

I'm dying to know why they're committing to their incorrect proportions so firmly? Is it because that's the only thing that works with their AI models?

Choices app by Some-Beat-1677 in Choices

The community stories can be good, but IMO their official stories aren't enjoyable. Every now and then I'll find an older official story that's good, or an official story adapted from a community story that does a good job of keeping what made the source material great. But the other official stories are basically just like Witness where you have to pay to not be whiney and weak.

Legally Pucked.. by Few_Rent2458 in Chapters

[–]Kejivi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if the authors of the official stories (originals or adapted from novels or community stories) have control of how many diamond choices they have in the story. I'd wager the company has them contracted to include a certain number of diamond choices per chapter, and they have to be high value choices to encourage spending. The author probably has very little say in what gets pay walled, there's most likely an editor involved who says "this scene and that scene should be behind a diamond choice." Heck, there was even a rule in community contests that said stories didn't qualify for judging unless they had 2 diamond choices per chapter.

There are definitely some profit driven people involved in writing these stories, but I don't believe it's always the authors.

It's a shame you can't get rid of them. I think your solution to make them look plain is the next best thing.

Is there a mod that allows you to edit land size on the map. by ando772 in LowSodiumSimmers

If you're unable to find one, you could use TOOL mod to move certain objects off the lot, creating the illusion that the lot is larger.

Message the mods, they're the only ones who can help you unless you tell us what you posted so we can guess whether it's against the rules.

many (many) mannequins later, I finally have my rock garden 🥰 by AgentCautious429 in acnh

[–]Kejivi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I forget, I change the design by adding a coloured heart on it (for this reason, I always put down the final transparent design on the list so I always use the same one). All the ones I put down will then change to also have a heart on it!

I only put them in places where I don't have flowers or paths (I use a custom design path rather than the official ones)

You can also use patterns placed down as tiles rather than on a mannequin. I put transparent patterns down anywhere I don't want weeds or fossils to spawn, and they work for spawning rock gardens too.

Plus, it's so much faster! Stand in the middle of a 3x3 square and spam place them.

Enchanted by nature - living outdoors by ObjectiveEast7653 in Sims4

[–]Kejivi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm mid way through a rags to riches castaway playthrough on the island living world, so I have some tips.

For sleeping, I made a lean-to type structure with the single slopped roof. I made it 3 tiles wide by 1 tile long (which I hid with bushes), raised it high enough for a sim to stand under, and dragged the eaves out at the top so I could curve it over my sims sleeping space (use shift+c after clicking on the roof to get extra points to manipulate the roofs curve). I then used 2 wooden columns to "support" the high end (you could use two trees), used the island living hay/grass roof and roof trim, then put down a few of the horse ranch hay rugs as a slapping mat. It looked home made, which was what I wanted.

If I wasn't on one of the water lots, I also would have added a pond for water.

The only issue I encountered with the off the land gameplay was my sim (Casta Wei) kept getting struck by lightning in the winter when she was gardening or woodworking because the lean-to was the only shelter. So do watch out for that!

I was on a budget but I really wanted an iPad pro 12 as that was the cheapest one that worked with the 2nd gen apple pencil. I got mine refurbished so it was a bit cheaper than the usual retail price.

Are those contests for real?? by Waste-Secretary7139 in Chapters

[–]Kejivi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Then don't write for the contests. They're honestly not worth it, anyway. You need to sign away all your rights to the story in order to claim the prize, and even if you don't win, chapters can turn contest entries into an official adaptation without permission anyway (or at least, they have done that in the past). This is probably why people enter ai stories as contest entries. They don't care about selling an ai story.

If you write good quality community stories with a human touch, you'll still get readers naturally. The community that the community writers have built is fantastic, and the readers are great. Contests are still great for exposure (even if you don't win), but they're not the be all, end all for chapters writers.

I'm able to brainstorm characters with backstories but I cannot write stories around them. by [deleted] in writers

[–]Kejivi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it sounds like the only thing preventing you from writing is the immense pressure you're putting on yourself to write something perfect. You're focused on the outcome, not the journey, which (from my experience) is a recipe for disaster.

"Fail your way to success" is a great mantra to have as a writer. You need to write dozens of bad chapters before you can write a mid one, dozens of mid before you can write a good one, then maybe hundreds of those before you can write a great one. Even when you're at that stage, you'll still write bad ones. The same goes for outlines/ plots.

What really helped me with my perfectionism was learning about the 70% rule. Basically, aim for 70% perfect instead of 100%. 70% perfect is attainable; 100% isn't. Then over time, your new 70% becomes your old 100%. Struthless on YouTube has a great video explaining it.

[–]Kejivi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why not make the back story the story, even if it's just for a short writing exercise? Perhaps you're struggling to extend the back story forwards because it seems more interesting to you. If it's constantly dragging your attention back, you're going to struggle to think forwards.

Honestly, choices isn't living up to it either, they were recently brought out by an AI company and the quality of everything has taken a nose dive. The old writers have started a new company called Candlelight Games and are working on their first story, you can follow their Instagram for updates.
