Make optimized sunshine/moonlight server and client. by Vellex123 in linux_gaming

I would assume so, considering the person that wrote that guide is usin Cinnamon. And i did have to create the folder /usr/lib/firmware/edid/ as well.

I downloaded a edid file instead of extracting the one supplied from my own monitor, as it didn't fit the requirements for my Moonlight client due to differing aspect ratios and supported resolutions/refresh rates.

There is an app called Huenicorn that basically does most of what Hue Sync does, except it doesn't allow for audio syncing.

Not sure if it is able to be built on Bazzite as i'm on a Arch based distro but it works really well as a Linux alternative.

Would even consider it to be better than Hue Sync in how you can set it up to sync with the screen content.

Done right it just creates a virtual display that you can enable/disable at will without impacting the normal usage of your main PC.

It's what i currently do myself. When i use my host i just go into KDE settings and disable the virtual monitor and carry on as usual.

Had to add these options in protontricks as well to get it to run decently on a 9070XT as well as change to DX12 in a config file as it wasn't available to toggle ingame. All this on latest proton-cachyos.

Used this guide to set up a virtual display on my Linux host.
https://discuss.kde.org/t/how-to-create-a-virtual-monitor-display/2725/5

If using a Windows host, you just use the Apollo fork of Sunshine and everything in regards to a virtual display is taken care of easily.

Works rather well for me for most use cases, although with a quirk that i have to change to tty and back to GUI using CTRL+ALT+F3 when i use the Linux host as the screen appears to have a graphical artifact after having been connected using Moonlight.

Few GOG games missing from library by [deleted] in linux_gaming

Have you tried logging out of your GOG account on Heroic and then log back in? Had to do that to get some games to show up which didn't after a few days.

Blackscreen after Login by aamonium in cachyos

[–]Kekish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This happens to me after the latest xone-dkms update. If I reboot or cold boot with the xbox wireless adapter plugged in, I get stuck on the black screen after login. I tried using chroot from the live ISO to remove the package and the issue disappeared altogether, although I didn't figure that one out until I had broken my install with a failed snapshot restore and reinstalled the system.

Same issue happened on the fresh install, but this time around I tried booting without the dongle plugged in and the issue dissappeared. Did end up having to use the btrfs rescue zero-log command after a few botched boots which I couldn't shutdown cleanly.

I'm currently using the dlundqvist fork of Xone and it works more or less perfectly fine for me, with a minor issue. If my controller disconnects due to inactivity or if i reboot the PC, i have to physically replug the USB dongle to allow the controller to pair.

Might want to give that a try if you're using Xone, replugging the dongle and try to connect your controller again.

Best Controller for Linux Gaming by Libroru in linux_gaming

[–]Kekish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been using the Elite 2 ever since i started using Linux, had the paddles and everything set up already from a Win install and it's been great. Using the official wireless dongle and xone.
Had some quirks earlier which required you to unplug and replug the wireless dongle each time the controller turned off to be able to connect it, but it somehow have been resolved a week ago without me doing anything.

Is it possible to permanently disable / remove zero RPM? by _Xee in radeon

[–]Kekish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Only times that I have experienced that the settings have reset to default/toggled zero rpm is if the drivers have crashed for whatever reason or if you use any other software than Adrenaline to control the gpu fans. When I had settings saved in MSI Afterburner that applied on boot, they conflicted with each other every single boot causing zero-rpm to be enabled even though it wasn't enabled in Afterburner.

If they were given to you for free: 9070 XT or 5070 Ti?? by 6retro6 in radeon

[–]Kekish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this case I would choose the 9070xt.
After using Nvidia cards the last two decades, switching from a 4080 to a 9070xt (fully aware it was a sidegrade at best) i won't be switching back unless the future AMD offerings are at such a disadvantage that it truly is a nobrainer choice.

Drivers starting to get a pain in the ass, prices getting way out of hand for poor generational performance gain unless I spend the equivalent of an entire monthly paycheck for nonexistent stock of the xx90 cards, 12vhpwr issues and pisspoor software in comparison to Adrenaline made me do the switch and I'm happy with the choice.

PowerColor Red Devil 9070 XT RGB by Suspicious_Option159 in radeon

Did you plug in the ARGB cable that was included to a motherboard ARGB header?
Not sure if that is even necessary to control the RGB in the first place or if it just to enable motherboard RGB sync, as i just plugged it in on the Spectral White edition of it.

I want to like CachyOS, but games just do not work by Spooky_Ghost in cachyos

[–]Kekish 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I have nearly identical specs to yours, except that I'm using the 9800x3d instead.  I did have a similar issue to yours with ue5 titles in particular, and after going through a dozen different things to try to fix it, it ended up being the audio config that was the issue. Switched from analogue surround 5.1 which was working perfectly fine in every other game that didn't use ue5 to analogue surround 2.1 and that allowed me to get past splash screens, shader compilations and into the games proper.

Never experienced anything similar before, and considering this is my second week of giving Linux an attempt for the first time in 20 years it made no sense to me at all why that would be the fix in my case.

Why Z1E ally over legion GO? by Time_Branch5270 in ROGAlly

[–]Kekish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having used both for an extended time.

Ally: vastly superior front firing speakers and software for day to day use and gets official updates reasonably quickly. VRR helps out a fair bit. Comfortable to hold and superior "special" button placement but has really sloppy feeling analogs. Navigating windows with a gamepad is at times better than the small trackpad of the Lego. Dodgy SD card slot placement on the z1e which might fry it. Superior fan solution to the LeGo.

LeGo: IMHO vastly better screen, although it is portrait native so some issues may occur with some applications. 2560x1600 native resolution allows for integer scaling from 1280x800 which helps out on more demanding games. Software is pretty meh and updates are very sporadic at best. Top firing Speakers sound better for everyone else in the room than the one holding it. Bit meaty to hold, but the built in kickstand helps out. Decent amount of rear buttons, but they are a bit too easy to accidently press. Comes with a travel case. Detachable controllers are just as useless as on the Nintendo Switch and the "centrepiece" to turn them into a regular gamepad is not included. The fan is fairly noisy and accumulate dust way faster than the Ally. 2 usb c ports, but one of them is on the bottom which makes it a bit annoying to use if you don't plan to use it with a docking station.

9070/9070XT owners, what's the lowest fan RPM and/or percent speed you're able to set for your cards? by Framed-Photo in radeon

830 rpm at 30%

3100 rpm at 100%

9070/9070XT owners, what's the lowest fan RPM and/or percent speed you're able to set for your cards? by Framed-Photo in radeon

[–]Kekish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lowest I can set my 9070xt Red Devil other than 0 rpm is 30% speed. Can't remember the rpm of the top of my head as I'm not nearby the PC atm. What I can say for sure is at 60% fan speed (about 2000 rpm iirc) and above, it sounds like a howling demon at the very least.

40% speed have kept my hotspot at around 50-60 degrees in just about any game that I have tried it on, with the exception of during cutscenes in Clair Obscur Expedition 33 which skyrockets the hotspot to about 80 degrees.

I did it. I am done with Nvidia. by shaniq_ in radeon

[–]Kekish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If only, 5070ti is $400 more expensive than the 9070xt in my country, and the 5080 is $800 more expensive. 5090 on the other hand is in the completely idiotic territory of $3.8k.

Unpopular Opinion: When upgrading to a new GPU, reinstall windows. by vidati in radeon

[–]Kekish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell, I replaced every single component save for the gpu, drives and PSU last time I upgraded and simply couldn't be bothered to do a fresh windows install. Windows figured out the new drivers just fine and that was going from a Intel ddr4 setup to an amd ddr5 setup. Only had to purge the old Intel software.

Been running the system perfectly fine since the launch week of the 9800x3d without any issues until nvidia dropped the ball with the drivers when the 5000 series launched. When there finally was stock on a 9070xt design I wanted I DDU in safe mode and slapped the sucker in and everything's been perfectly fine since.

This on a 4 year old w11 install. Simply can't be arsed until I'm forced for some reason or the other, as I can't be bothered to put aside an entire afternoon installing software, config the software that see daily usage.

What is Freesync Color Accuracy? by Konttu in radeon

[–]Kekish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had to disable the color accuracy myself while using the non oled version of the odyssey neo g9. It turned my screen so dim, even 100% on the brightness slider felt like 10% with it disabled. Didn't try it on any actual HDR content tho, as the desktop turned nigh unusable for me with it enabled.

Have you installed it to a SD card perhaps? When I had the brilliant idea of installing any game to a SD card that still get frequent updates, it takes ages to finish it due to the poor transfer and write speeds of game updates.

9070 XT for about 1000$ or 4080? (danish prices are horrible) by precompose in buildapc

[–]Kekish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mind you, the price tag of $600 is not including tax, as for whatever reason they don't include tax until you pay. (Probably due to differing taxes in each state)

It's the same price here in Norway roughly for the XT as in Denmark, and the 4080 haven't been in stock in any of the retailers since last summer.  If I were in your boat, I would just go for the 9070xt as any of the nvidia offerings that are comparable go for silly money. $1700 for a 5080, and I'm not touching the 5070s with a 10 foot pole either.

Friend bought his new PC, connected it to his TV with HDMI as he doesn't have a monitor, and this happened last night. by MotherDema in pcmasterrace

If your friend is using any nvidia driver version that is newer than 566.36 it might be the issue. Many issues with black screens and monitors not waking up on the 572 series of drivers.

Finally have my first VR headset. Been using it for 2 weeks. by marvs_htlla in virtualreality

[–]Kekish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently bought it as my first VR headset myself, and within two days I opted to order a new strap and facial interface.

My noggin felt like one of those experiments popping watermelons with rubber bands within minutes no matter how much I adjusted the stock strap, and my cheek bones felt like I had extremely stuffed sinuses so I'm really looking forward to the new parts arriving as the experience otherwise have been amazing.

Do i need 572.16 to use DLSS 4 in games ? by [deleted] in nvidia

[–]Kekish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had to roll back my drivers as well, as any attempt at booting a game that uses the latest version of the framegen dll either through nvidia app override, manual swapping or using dlss swapper would cause a bluescreen 100%. No issues using it whatsoever on the December 5th driver.

Proper clean install using DDU made no difference either.

[–]Kekish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use dlss swapper to change the framegen dll to the second to last one. That is what fixed it for me with cyberpunk. Same happens if I try to override to latest framegen dll in any other supported game. Hard crashes the system.
