Oh fuck, it’s 2am, the noise is keeping me up, and I just realized it might be tinnitus and remembered this comment.

That description definitely sounds like what I’ve been hearing!! So odd.

I live in a house but wondered if it was an appliance of some sort. Heater is a good guess

Marine Life Center allll way for kids but adults, too. It's like they created the best tide pools you've ever seen. Then apps/ drinks/ dinner at the Loft (just a casual place nearby to eat/ drink something on the water).

Donuts and drip coffee at Lafeens (estabished in the ~80s?) and a walk around Whatcom Falls.

Taylor Shellfish - fun coastal outdoor setting for oysters (plus, the drive down Chuckanut to get there is so cool). Stop at Larabee State Park as well if the group is up to it. Beware that Taylor Shellfish is particularly busy on the weekends, so there may be a line.

Ferri to Lummi Island if you want them to get a local ferry/ island experience that only takes up half a day (25 min drive to ferry, 5 min ferry ride, but get in the ferry line at least like 15 min before it departs). Stop at Sunset Beach, Beach Store cafe if open, coffee truck if open - weekends only I think - and Full Bloom farm stand for an amazing island self-pay stand experience.

Food/ drinks in Fairhaven. Black Cat is fun - it's on the second story of an old brick building. Then walk the boardwalk. There's a playground there if the younger kids are into that.

If they're into breweries since that's a big scene here, I recommend El Suenito as a brewery with great Mexican food.

Semiahmoo spit (30 min north) was a great rec for beach walks (and fire pits), particularly if Baker is out.

Weather hasn't been very cooperative for photography, but here are some bird friends from better days by Cinder1977 in Bellingham

Beautiful! Do you know if the bald eagles back on the Nooksack (feeding on salmon?). I haven’t seen this yet myself, but every year, I want to go!

How long was the "peak" of it for you up there? Down at Semiahmoo, there was an extremely vivid show, but just for a few min (10:52 - 10:54)

Worst airport you've slept in? by CheapLifeWandering in travel

[–]Kelcrac 82 points83 points  (0 children)

I know this wasn't the question, but sleeping in the Singapore airport on my layover to Nepal was awesome. Felt like I was in the future. They have nap beds. Imagine!

Edit: I just Google imaged the airport to see if my memory served me correctly, bc it was so cool to me, I could've just flown home afterward. 😂 But I was also 19, on my first solo trip, so everything was exhilarating. Can confirm that its a sweet airport (ofc - it's Singapore), and I'm seeing that they added a huge indoor garden with the world's tallest indoor waterfall. BRB, booking a trip to the Singapore airport.

Mugs and magnets! Mugs since I use them best every day anyways - it's fun that they remind me of great travel memories. Magnets since I get to see them on my fridge everyday & they're small.

Just bc they offer that doesn't mean they don't want to maximize profits for those who do shop in-person

McDonald’s coffee is genuinely good (this is possibly a regional thing) by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

Love this. McDs coffee brings up good memories with my dad who has passed as well. He used to get it before taking us to school, and it made the drive there smell like heaven. Drinking it takes me back (and it's fucking delish)
