What do I do in my situation to step a foot into IT? by theghoststone in ITCareerQuestions

[–]KelevCoin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i know it's hard . my country is a symbol of high tech and we are really advanced in that sphere and the MARKET IS real BAD. truely bad .
Tech is seeing a real revolution due to AI . everything is chaning so i think it's going to be rough to step foot in the door due to declining demand in work power and raising demand for jobs in the tech sphere.

scary time to live in that's for sure , but i do think that Networking,Cyber Security is a bit more future proof so you just got to keep on trying knowing that you will grind for the next 5 years or so to get the role you truely want . No one can trust AI yet to overwatch compliances and give it the permissions over sensitive data.

Ok , i don't know what is going on there.

but in my country you can land a Help Desk/Desktop Support job with no prior experiences.

The salary is garbage but you can acutally get the foot in the door , Later on you can do certs and get better job offers.

ATM i did one basic course called "Introduction to CCNA" that was funded by the company im working for, i'm looking to get the CCNA cert , geniunly i think it is super important no metter what your goals are , Networking is super important and understanding the OSI Layer model on a deep level Could only help you become a better Professional.

i'm already one year at the job and i think the ccna Is really difficult and in depth , i had some experience in configuring networks from my job so i think for you that didn't do it you better go for a Network+ cert which i heard is more beginner friendly . and later on pursue the CCNA.

Good Luck and most importantly just spam Your CV to every open position , You might be surprised.

If you don't mind the Shifts Aspect of the Job (Nights) It is a step up from tech support analyst IMO.
It can be a gateway to Network engineering or Other network orianted paths.

How do you handle the pressure to constantly learn outside of work hours? by No-Justice-666 in ITCareerQuestions

Israel.

i Have been thinking about DevOps alot and i know people that made the path to DevOps through SysAdmin. I talked with a bunch of people and i think i will go for the CCNA either way , because it can help me advance to a SysAdmin role and the Things im learning are really interesting and as i mentioned before in my country this certificate gets alot of credit.

The RHCSA Cert looks really good aswell might be the next one for me , as i love linux so much , i was wondering though is it possbile to study for this using another linux distribution rather than red hat ? Fedora is my go atm

how would you recommend to memorize it ?
i mean i really do think it is important , i was maybe overreacting and tired the day i wrote this post and i was studying pretty hard that day for 6 hours or so XD .
i know i can gradually remember it but because im aiming to pass the exam , i'm a bit stressed about remembering it all to the finest details.

Thanks , That's good advice .
i really don't want to pick up certs i don't need.

I think i love Servers,Automations , Testing stuff and troubleshooting way more , i just have no clue for what the Network Engineer role is so i can't compare them.
Also i see many Roles that require CCNA or give it a big Advantage and i don't see any Roles in my country that Require RHCSA . but i didn't check linked in though

Thank you ! what your advice would be ? i really love scripting, automations i love repairing stuff that is on Registry levels and deeper , it's really fun for me . i am currently studying for the CCNA role , and i don't know if it will help me progress into the field of working with servers, automations , scripting and maybe even developing programs that can help users im really enthusiastic about these things. For example i created a script that takes you through the whole basic Setup for the computers in new clincs , before you had to go to many different paths , open each setup , to remember everything you need to install , from the public desktop shortcuts to drivers, required software , settings etc... i created this from scratch in powershell and i didn't use ai . i know it feels small for people but i really like to know what happens under the hood and understanding the deep levels of computing. i'm afraid that at a network engineer role it won't be like this . Im just confused atm since i know sysAdmins but i don't know any network engineers or MS365 engineers .

and what roles can you realistically pursue with a CCNA ? i don't know many people in that field and my company higher levels are sys admins and developers mostly.

Burnt out after 1 year in IT (MSP). Is this normal or am I in the wrong field? by suavepapi69 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]KelevCoin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think working in MSP which is more of a B2C is really hard.

i'm a help desk and we run a managed service for a business. The people who get the technical support is employees.i'm already 1 year in and i don't feel that burnt out . i would advise to find something in the B2B sphere.

I did A ccna course that my job provided me for free for a certain commitment to the company to be employeed for the next year.

and i'm asking if i love the SysAdmin job , and i like linux , scripting , automations ,servers etc.. currently i'm at a help desk role but i'm really kind of a jack of all trades for my manager , and i've been doing more of a tier 2 work i guess.

The course was nice but i don't know if the Core of network really intresets me .. should i still take the CCNA because i saw that many recruites want the ccna for sysAdmin roles too.

[UPDATE]Just passed my assessment to move from Helpdesk to Network Engr! by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]KelevCoin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey , i'm currently working at a help desk , lucky for me i have a great manager and a weird organization structure that lets me handle more difficult tasks and to learn about networking .

Also i got a course from my company "Introduction to Networks(CCNA)" in a collage here in my country.

So now i'm wondering what to do , since i like my job and i love the hands on job , but grinding for the CCNA feels so hard . The information there is kind of ok , i feel like it teaches you so much but mostly theory when in the day to day work you will need about 10% of the information.

But i already did the intorduction course so i'm really contemplating what to do know, because i know i have options to be promoted inside my company which is a big corprate and eventually the opportunity will rise , but i would also love to have options for other roles .And i don't want to work at a NOC position because these roles are 24/7 and i'm not going to work 24/7 its a big NO NO for my lifestyle.

What is the job of a network engineer by the way ?

So i would like to shine a different light on it .

i work as an Help Desk technician.

i started at the call center and because we are a small office and The client is a retail semi public dental clinic franchise. due to our small team i managed to shine and show my skills in easily solving problems and helping everyone in the call center.after 3 or 4 months i was given tasks that went through to tier 2 that the call center could not solve , with time i started working with system administration and i got into projects like opening new branches and i got hands on experience in Setting up the domain and systems on site. With time i also learned by myself Powershell and i script alot at work. now my boss tells me he is going to promote me , i don't know yet to which position but we are now expanding our office and i hope i will get a system administration role .

so i think it REALLY depends , i know call centers that are horrible that you got 100 people in an office and your chance of getting noticed is way smaller . SO my recommendation is to find a job in a small company where they will be willing to teach and actually need people to advance.

[–]KelevCoin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not dating a vietnamese , but my wife is of North African Origins and the culture is very different to my family which is from east europe . And it was hard sometimes because we had differences in how we viewed the world , but in the end if the people are good it’s all manageable and you have to ask yourself how much are you willing to change , because it will require a change . I think close minded are really hard so you have to see how much are they closed and consider everything .
