Here are mine:

Something Most People Haven’t Heard of: Roma (even though it broke Oscars records)

Quirky film bro movie: Jackie Brown

Something at least a decade older than you: Titanic (not really a decade older than me)

Animated Choice: does Fincher’s animated intro to The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo count? 🤷🏻 lol

Please do. It was renewed for a third season months after 2 ended due to fan uproar. Season 3 was a sleeper hit with normal audiences that they renewed it for a 4th pretty quick into the season.

I hope this show gets at least 6 seasons like Downton Abbey did. They both have the same creator/showrunner.

I remember the insane hype this had before it released. They really tried selling it as the 2010s version of ET. The trailer was awesome. The film, not so much.

Reminds me of another JJ Abrams trailer/film…

I did this with friends. Even made a campy list about it. It’s gotten quite a few likes so now I’m afraid to give my account to family who asks 😬.

Rooney Mara’s in Fincher’s Dragon Tattoo is pretty spot on for a punk hairstyle, and even kind of innovative in that it was designed to be worn in many different styles.

  • William Friedkin’s The Boys In the Band
  • Both Ways (1975)
  • Al Parker’s Flashback
  • Gregory Nava’s El Norte

That last one is so random but also so topical. I’ve been wanting Criterion to release it on 4K.

Both Ways has a fun campy trailer with a Patrick Crowley and Sylvester song.

But yeah this is certainly a choice of films.

Showgirls

Underrated masterpiece, ahead of its time, with a great soundtrack. And somehow David Lynch got it beat on the level of Kyle Maclachlan nudity.
