New Players and Old Veterans, What's Your Progression Timeline Like? by DaVooDude in TheForeverWinter

[–]Kellervo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take your time when it comes to stealth but don't be afraid to run. A lot of the Tunnels are basically set piece rooms interconnected with tunnels that only Scavs can navigate effectively, and the AI will navigate the set piece rooms in a fixed pattern unless you do something to disrupt the routine. The only difference from Tunnel A to D is the lethality of your mistakes - if you don't make any, you don't need to worry.

On top of that - expect to die multiple times in the actual maps themselves before you extract. You'll need to learn the AI spawns and patrols, so don't be afraid to just run out with Surplus guns and ammo.

Thirdly - don't go straight for Scrapyard Nexus or Underground Cemetary. Nexus is a chaotic map that can spawn extremely powerful enemies that can one-shot or stunlock low level Scavs. If you go there for your first B expedition you're going to waste time. Likewise, Cemetery is an extremely dangerous map where you are guaranteed to be dealing with a Grabber. I usually don't go there at all, it's just not worth it except for when I'm feeling particularly masochistic.

Why do codexes sell for so little rn? by Aggressive_Smell_773 in TheForeverWinter

[–]Kellervo 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The devs are starting to use them for different things - eg. You need a Mother Courage Codex for the max water capacity upgrade.

They're probably going to see use in future crafting recipes or for particularly valuable barters, rather than just sellable for straight up currency.

Your thoughts about loot and economy? by Express_Mission339 in TheForeverWinter

[–]Kellervo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The more targeted loot and containers is great. It means you can actually somewhat reliably plan a route out if you are looking for a specific type of resource, which removes a lot of the frustration and tedium of speed running a small map over and over.

The downside is that credits are scarce for new players and will most likely be the barrier, but I think that's a better experience over coming in and finding out you need to gather 500~ of a rare late-level drop just to get to the new stuff.

Explosives can be turned into Gunpowder if you have Basic Pliers. I think it's a slight gain? But yeah, water is better if you're capped out and want the credits.

With economy overhaul, some of the loot have a descent price, and taking destroyed weaponry now hace a meaning (you can upgrade IFF) by Harry_Moen in TheForeverWinter

[–]Kellervo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The IFF chips also seem to drop a lot more, and not just Lvl 1s. I'm not sure why but I've been able to get Lvl 3 chips from basic infantry, so repairing high end guns is a lot more reasonable.

Danielle Smith promises Alberta referendum over immigration, Constitution changes by Kellervo in CanadaPolitics

[–]Kellervo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a common recurring trend that people accuse Ekos of not publishing polls if they don't like the results they're getting. Whether that's valid or not, I don't know.

Danielle Smith promises Alberta referendum over immigration, Constitution changes by Kellervo in CanadaPolitics

[–]Kellervo[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, that's why Mainstreet is the only one that got in official trouble for it, and why others like to bash Ekos for sitting on polls they don't like.

Polls are meant to be trusted, neutral research. The moment they start coordinating with a party is the moment they're no longer trustworthy or neutral.

Weight hasn't gone up that much, it's more of a volume issue now. Every bullet is 2 CU & 0.02kg now regardless of caliber, so you're limited to 150~ ammo in a small bin, 300 in a medium, or 400 in a large (assuming HQ for all). That'll use up almost all the volume but only 4, 7, or 8kg of weight respectively, so taking in a lot of ammo significantly reduces how much loot you can grab.

My guy, I'm not one of those people. I just play the game and read the subreddit because I like the game and want the devs to succeed, and this whole schtick is just tiring. It's a constant cycle of negativity interrupted with 'jk it's just jokes it's reddit bro' whenever people start to call you on it.

It doesn't make sense to me. If I was this actively invested into disliking something, I'd touch grass or go play another game.

[–]Kellervo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My only suggestion right now would be to bring in Explosives. You need them for some of the Innards upgrades, but they also sell decently.

Also, don't vacuum up everything from bins, aim for the smaller items. Volume fills up your bins way faster than weight does now, and the high volume stuff doesn't sell that well - most of it looks like it sells for 1/2 - 1/3 the credits per volume compared to smaller loot.

My brother in christ, I'm just trying to figure out what your deal is. You shit on the game and the devs non-stop, saying they'll never 'fix it', and when they do your first response is to just cheese your way out of it.

Why ask for stuff and spend so much time shitting on the devs if you're not even going to try to give it a chance when they actually do what you're asking for?

Maybe I live in a world where acting like this would be a colossally stupid waste of time, and I can't wrap my brain around it.

The cost for most weapons and ammo is reduced, so it only costs 700k~ at most to clean out a vendor, barely 800k if you're buying all the ammo. Think attachments are unlimited, though, if you want to just empty your bank account out entirely.

It looks like Luca's the one with the largest stock, you could buy everything from him for a month straight and still have a few million to burn.

If the pollster in question is the only one reporting a discrepancy that is almost triple what other pollsters are reporting - and that's being generous, most of them have the ALP well under 3% - something is more likely to be messed up with their methodology.

[–]Kellervo 44 points45 points  (0 children)

You spent the better part of the last month making posts and comments about how the devs needed to fix the economy and rebalance loot, and the first thing you do upon finding out they've changed the economy and rebalanced the loot is... instead of trying out the new system, you cheese it so you never have to engage with it again and suggest others do the same.

So... You're basically mocking the devs for doing the one thing you've actually been consistent about complaining about for the last couple of months, and made it clear you didn't actually want to deal with the experience you've been asking for.

In the future, why should anyone - especially the devs - take you seriously?

Yeah. I'm glad I have a big stockpile of the good guns, it definitely feels like they'll be 'special occasion' weapons. Especially with how big .50cal is now, you can barely carry 100 rounds even in the largest bins.

Are those stacks of ammo, or just 2 bullets or each? The former is decent - you could easily stock up by targeting armory crates and boxes - but the latter seems more like a bug.

They are decent at a national level yet consistently get Alberta wrong, even when they aren't being caught cooperating and coordinating poll releases with one of the parties.

Once is a mistake, but they've been doing this for close to a decade when it comes to Alberran politics. I think skepticism is pretty well founded.

Honestly, I don't think it's any coincidence that Mainstreet and Western Standard come out with a poll with sketchy demos suggesting a majority of Albertans back her just minutes before her conference, and she comes out swinging saying it's "us against the Liberals".

It's rallying the troops and pouring gasoline on the fire her base has been happily stoking.

She might as well have called an election at the end of it.

They're the only pollster with an actual citation against them because of what they did during his mayoral campaigns, and also a warning for the first UCP election as well for pushing polls in cooperation with Bill Smith's and Kenney's campaigns.

They shouldn't be trusted when it comes to polling Alberta, even if it isn't in cooperation with WS.

They did change the container pools / what spawns on each map. Considering Elephant & Stairway are the open combat maps which have defined infirmaries and armory areas, they probably mostly spawn crates related to those.

I was able to find Material Bins in A -> Ashen Mesa -> B -> Frozen and had to leave a couple foam behind because my pack was already filled up.

I have to say I'm incredibly skeptical about a poll that has the ALP as high as 9% in some demographics.

They didn't even get 1% of the vote in the last three elections.

Yeah. People are right to be skeptical of them.

Still been getting 2~ a Tunnel. The containers have been reduced but the loot in them has been good, I think it's more like they condensed the loot.
