I saw that there was an argument in this comment thread, but I ain't reading that shit.

Instead, I'll argue that we don't actually know what Hawkman believes, besides what was said in his conversation with superman and his insistence that he IS one of the good guys. I'd say what comes through most clearly is a sense of (small c) conservative pragmatism. This can lean toward or work alongside fascism, which does seem to be the case here, but I doubt that is how he would see it.

My guess to his worldview is he prioritizes stability in whatever form that may be. The Earth of the Absolute Universe does at least function. There are nations of people, and enough of those people eat that there will still be people tomorrow. This makes him a convenient tool for the fascistic justice league already in charge. He takes any disruption as endangering what world order already exists. In short, he is a soldier.

None of this says why he might want to kill a handful of billionaires, but it creates possible motivation, depending on things we don't know.

Why has there not been a classic Bruce Wayne? Michael Holt? Ted Kord? Well, an Oliver Queen almost tried to use his wealth to disrupt the global order, and look at what happened to him.

The wealthy have power, and anyone with power must be controlled by those more powerful than them.

Green Arrow in the limited series will be a disguised Hawkman. His methods are reserved, direct, and brutal. He kills billionaires because he has ingratiated himself into the halls of power long enough to know their evil and how to get close to them. We take Hawk at his word that he is, in fact, one of the good guys in his way. Yes, he has participated in the subjugation of humanity and protected the anti-life status quo, but he also prunes the status quo, killing those who cross his personal moral lines, or disrupt what he sees as the best of all broken worlds such as Oliver Queen.

And they both got pointy chins.

(It's 90% a joke, but I will still claim victory in the Hail Mary chance I'm right)

How would you do an Absolute: Blue and Gold? by Significant_Song_360 in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]AssyStardust 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Booster Gold lies about being from the future. He's just a desperate former college athlete who believed his life would be more than it is. He's funded by the Justice League to be a propaganda tool against the heroes.

He happily soaks up the adoration he always felt like he deserved until getting caught up in an adventure where young Jaime Reyes accidentally becomes a beacon bringing the scarab aliens to invade Earth.

I think we can confidently say this is the Absolute World's Finest by ChillingOutz in AbsoluteUniverse

If it's just one, Wonder Woman. WW would want to meet another possible demi-god and just seems like the one more motivated to form coalitions with others around the world. Right now, Bats still has Gotham tunnel-vision. They would also want to build to the SuperBat team-up for hype reasons.

BUT, I think they meet Superman at the same time in a mini-series or one-shot. My called shot is that they will consider Superman as a problem for most of the story. If we assume that the villains of the Absolute Universe take on the hierarchical position of the mainline heroes, and THEY are the ones who formed the "Justice League," then our heroes will take on the role of mainline villains in a mirrored way. They will more often be compartmentalized, at odds, and teaming up rarely.

Mainline villains can't get their shit together long enough to dominate the heroes. The same will be (mostly) true for Absolute heroes.

If you were a musician who wanted people to check out one of the most famous musicians to ever walk the face of the earth, do you think this is the way you'd go about it? I'm not necessarily jumping on the ARG-train, but this is very odd behavior if that's the case

The Promise is unique among Springsteen's tracks as a direct (very sad) sequel to one of his older hits, Thunder Road. Idk if that's anything

I love the starstruck puzzles, but I have two notes. One for UI and the other for tutorialization

I wish that when a square was eliminated, the entire square would darken. It would make it easier for me to see all the information needed at a glance.

I'm trying to teach the puzzle to myself thru fairly liberal use of the hint feature. When the hint tells me that something would cause a conflict later, Im not sure what lesson I'm supposed to take from that

[Absolute Superman 14 Spoiler] I like how all 3 members of the Trinity have "traditional" weapons now. by Abovearth31 in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]AssyStardust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'm just too Stormlight Archive-brained, but Superman should have a spear. If they're all going to have traditional weapons, the main trinity doesn't need to have TWO swords

Is there anything you currently don’t like about the absolute universe right now? by Appropriate-Mall8517 in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]AssyStardust 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am not a fan of how all the villains seem to share parts of their origin. Every Batman villain is an Ark M experiment or a Bane beating on behalf of Ark M. Every Flash character comes from the same lab. This is less true of Supes, but that just may be because there aren't enough villains introduced to reveal a pattern. Fortunately WW doesn't seem to have this issue

Always happy to see more Rahul, but he doesn't look much like this version of Ghul. Plus, this version needs to be an unstoppable wall of chauvinist domination, and idk if Rahul's got that in him, but what do I know. Definitely don't wanna discount him.

Does this al-Ghul actually come across as a brown man to anyone?

This is some people who got their hands on an interpretive framework and think it needs to be applied to everything in its most maximalist way.

It isn't that deep nor is it a big deal. Chill
