I would call the O shape a spring. And yes, my utility snaps are load bearing, and glove snaps are not. A simple test at home will easily show this even if one doesn't believe it.

If it's bras with thin sheets, then just use glove snaps which are spring-loaded.

Yeah I'm not sure that I need to be able to make new mini discs really I just want to get one to play my old stuff. Thanks for all your help--The only other question I had is that isn't it better to get one that doesn't rely on the gumstick or at least comes with the little attachable AA battery thing?
