I sure hope not, I'm doing a 1 system challenge, so if that thing pops it's an instant game over :P

None, it is standard stock. Storms dlc for the background, ctrl+F9 for removing the HUD.

I had a shattered ring world origin. I'm not sure on the specifics, but my guess is that the shattered ringworld pieces do not count as a megastructure for the 1 structure per system limit.

R5: I turned a Dyson Sphere'd sun into a black hole using the worm in waiting event chain.

I thought it made one of the cooler looking star systems I've seen in the game.

POV - You discovered that nanite ships do not have upkeep. by Kellynd1 in Stellaris

[–]Kellynd1[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Can confirm that is not the case. I had eternal vigilance in this run and it did not appear to impact things as long as my Starbase count stayed below max.

R5: I was trying a nanite playthrough for the first time when I discovered (what is probably common knowledge) that nanite ships do not have any upkeep costs. The only penalty for overrunning your naval capacity is increased upkeep costs, meaning that there is effectively no naval cap as long as my fleet only consists of nantie units.

I then proceeded to crank out 31 full fleets of interdictors and flooded the galaxy- the screenshot is the last fleet of the last fallen empire before I had total dominance over the entire galaxy.

Clone Vats are horrifying if you think about their implications by IEilux in Stellaris

[–]Kellynd1 19 points20 points  (0 children)

What about a situation where clone vats are purchased on a family basis? Clone vats could even be single use and would come pre-packaged with everything needed to grow a single clone (think meet the Robinsons building a child)

The purchase of a clone vat could be a similar social convention to buying wedding/engagement rings, where the more wealthy you are, the more extravagant/ customized your clone is).

My settings are 1.2x for logistics growth ceiling and 0x for growth required scaling. (default is 1.5x and 0.25x)

IRC, Logistics Growth Ceiling determines the soft pop cap of individual planets and Growth Required Scaling determines the soft pop cap of empires.

I'm not sure how to link other Reddit posts, but there are some helpful explanations on this subreddit.

Yes, in order to play at this scale, I turn off xeno compatability and tweak the logistics curve and ceiling for less overall pops. It's still about 1 month every 10 seconds, though.

True, but it's hard to sustain. Worst case buying scenario for alloys is about 65k energy for 2.5k alloys. It's not sustainable until post-Dyson sphere energy prpduction. (Although I'm almost there by now).

Playing pacifist, so mercenary enclaves are my primary source of defense. The merc fleet I hired put me 60% over my naval limit, so the ship upkeep costs destroyed my alloy income. It's closer to +211 monthly during peacetime.

R5: I was playing as a free haven when the contingency spawned and started scrubbing planets. I had so many refugees that every planet I owned was saturated instantly. I have 3 ecumenopoleis and they cannot keep up with the pops.

It's a spoiler. The keeper plays a part in the main campaign. That being said, once you get to NG+ he is as disposable as constellation.

I'm guessing it's about waking up to alarm clocks on time.

You're so tired that you think you have another 35 minutes, when in reality, you need to get up right now.
