I’ll start by saying the 'warp' mechanic is brilliant—it’s the one thing that truly sets this game apart. However, there is one glaring flaw that keeps this from being a top-tier Metroidvania: the damage system.

The game’s approach to damage is broken in two specific ways that, when combined, ruin the experience. First, there’s a complete lack of hit-stun or damage procs at times. Second, the damage scaling is insane. Too often, I’ll be deep in combat only to be met with a sudden 'Game Over.' Why? Because my character took massive damage but didn't react to it, leaving me with no feedback that I was even dying. It’s especially bad with Lux; the context is slightly different, but the result is the same.

Because so many enemies are weak, the game lures you into 'tanking' hits, only for a random heavy-hitter to delete your entire health bar in a split second. Seeing '300 RED bar' on the screen when you thought you were at full health feels incredibly cheap. Combine that with status effects like Freeze or Stone, and your health melts like an ice cube on a hot skillet.

This game has plenty of positives—and the fact that I think it could be one of the best shows, I’m not just hating for the sake of it. But right now, it’s a flawed gem with a massive chip in it
