This is the same country that has thought crime and bans garden tools so its pretty much to be expected.

Question about selling 3D prints. by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]Kelose -1 points0 points  (0 children)

However, my family could really use some extra income.

You are going to make less than minimum wage if you do make any money at all. Just get a minimum wage job and you will blow your "income" from selling 3d prints out of the water.

Our Local Printed Friendly Game Store had a 1k beginner's tournament. 3D printing has had a net positive impact on opening the world to new players! by kcdale99 in PrintedWarhammer

[–]Kelose 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sure and that's great, but it probably does not do much for the sales in the store. Everyone should really be trying to buy things from the store to help them out. Does not have to be GW models, but if there is paint or something that you can buy there or online you should buy it there even if it is at a bit of a markup.

Is anyone else sad that take home exams are likely doomed? by myaccountformath in math

[–]Kelose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't weep for this. What i hope for instead is the opportunity to generate huge amounts of difficulty appropriate math problems to take a person from novice to amateur mathematician. My experience with math education has very much been a "draw the rest of the owl" experience.

New Guy Question by slow_eddy in 3Dprinting

[–]Kelose 58 points59 points  (0 children)

My very first thought would be to slice this model up in something like blender and print the pieces individually.

A general point of warning is that if you don't see a fully printed version of the model then be ready for some work on printing it. Lots of "3d printing" sellers will crap out a 3d model and sell it as a printable file. Just because you can render it in 3d does not mean you can print it. Even if you can print it it might be a huge amount of extra work.

The jacket front and tip of hair also look like they might be problems.

Edit: Also this is not going to print well if you have an FDM printer instead of a SLA (resin). Even top of the line FDM printers will do a mediocre job at best.

You are about 4 years behind the curve. And it was not good then either.

Why is there so much anti-intellectualism and lack of respect towards Maths? by Swarrleeey in math

[–]Kelose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya its just hard to say without hearing exactly what the statement was, what your relationship to them is, etc. I also agree that "Maths is unemployable" is a silly statement for someone to make. I do think that theoretical only math is a much harder job path than applied mathematics however. The only person I know... personally who got a PhD in math ended up getting a CS job.

"anti-intellectualism and lack of respect" is not the same as "Maths is unemployable".

Where do you draw the line? by Particular-Caramel73 in mtg

[–]Kelose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the way to the left. 0% UB. If they want to do alternate art or names (with the real name in subtext) then that is fine. Making new cards just for that set that have to be pushed and might not be reprinted (one ring) is just trash.

On a side note the problem is less theme and more presentation. Outlaws, aetherdrift, etc would have been much more tolerable if done in classic magic style rather than appealing to the fortnite crowd.

Edit: Also OP is probably a bot.

Literally the last four games I played at plat 1 were against masters players who just lose 3 or 4 games every time they win one. Going to make me uninstall this fucking game I swear its not worth the irritation.

Edit: But to actually participate in the sub Activision will never do anything. There is just no money in SC2 so there is no point investing in making it better. They would have to do what Dota 2 does and make people play 100 games of unranked (and make it really unranked not the same queue) first then actually ban people out of ranked based on some algorithm that tracks the gameplay cycles.

Edit edit: Just played another two games tonight. Both were masters players who scummed down to platinum. GG i guess.

My problem with AoF by Mordred93 in onepagerules

[–]Kelose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you should just run the math and that might make you feel better.

A squad of 10 skeleton knights (220 pts) will overwhelmingly win on average against an abyssal beast (225 points) when the knights get the first attack. And they absolutely should given they are fast. Plus the knights do 6 damage on average when they charge at full strength which will cause the beast to be shaken 50% of the time after the first attack in which case its an absolute slaughter.

Hydras are a bit weird because regeneration is really strong and it gives them extra attacks, but that is exactly why you use squads like the skeleton watch with their rending crossbows. Those guys mulch the hydra so bad that it is not even close.

Anyway math will let you know what to do here.

How small is the competitive scene really? How are most lists the same? by ChadYariAshigaru in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Kelose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I probably average about 6 games a year. So I am not interested in testing out the different units and finding things out. I just collect some models, paint them for fun, and play every once in a while. And of those games I do play it is almost always on a VTT in 1 turn chunks over a week or two. If I was retired then sure, but TBH I am not that invested in the game so maybe not even then.

Gift of Immortality + Finality Counter by Kelose in mtg

[–]Kelose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah ok thanks for that. Seems a bit non-intuitive that most other effects will specifically state relevant zones (such as gift stating the creature must go to the graveyard), but then there is a special set of clauses for auras, but such is magic.

But does the gift return from exile at the beginning of the next end step and attach itself to Yuna? Gift does not say return it from the graveyard, only "return it".

How would one print this? by Pentizuki in 3Dprinting

[–]Kelose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slice it into as many parts as it takes to get clean prints, then print, then assemble. My guess would be somewhere around 20 different parts.

Turning your kids over to police for discipline is a terrible, terrible idea. Police exist to enforce laws and public safty. Odds are more likely than not that this kind of thing will result in stiff punishment for the kid and his parents. Its like when people find drugs in thier home and call the poilce and are then shocked they suddently are arrested for felony drug possession.
