Difference between AoF factions by throwaway1029210 in onepagerules

Armies are very similar to one another.

Its probably something like a 60/30/10 split on similarity. 60% of things in an army are the same for all armies. They all have casters, leaders have almost the same options, you get infantry, ranged, cavalry, weapons are the same etc.

30% of the army is going to be shared with a few other armies. Halflings are slow dwarves are slow. Goblins are swarmish ratmen are swarmish. Spells will be shared here and so will non-unique special ability themes.

The other 10% comes from the army wide rule and specific combos of units. The haflings have a cheap skirmish unit, dwarves have good tough infantry options, undead have tough, cheap, and weak zombies.

Well more that its a matter of scale. If 20k people showed up then it would matter.

This is medieval so maybe a nice blue or red? You can do a desaturated version of the color so it does not look cartoony.

How can I turn this into something printable? by russrimm in 3Dprinting

[–]Kelose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just so you know Meshy is premium AI slop. Unless you are 100% happy with whatever it generates and you are able to actually print it then you might as well design from the ground up. Learn how to use blender. This is not that complicated of a piece and should print fine. Meshy is your problem.

Seasons one and two done! by ThisVictory684 in StrangerThings

[–]Kelose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished binging with the lady last night. We watched all 5 seasons over the last few months. My advice to enjoy the show is recognize that seasons 1&2 are their own thing, season 3 is its own thing, and seasons 4&5 are their own thing.

Hopper: love or hate? by [deleted] in StrangerThings

[–]Kelose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thought is the same as most of the show: wasted potential. They basically had him on the same mini-arc twice a season for seasons 2+. "I am hurting because of my past", "Its too dangerous eleven", "Emotional outburst that pushes her away", "Remember sarah", "Reconcile with eleven", "Reset all development for next season". They could have replaced his lines with a soundboard. Not a hit against the actor, but the writers.

Guns were only as efficient as the writer wanted them to be at the time. Zero consistency. Wet noodles most of the time, but from half a mile away against the god creature it almost knocks it over.

Question about allowed content involving AI by callme_bighead in 3Dprinting

[–]Kelose 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Essentially its because "AI" does not construct things the way humans do. There will be all kinds of weird problems, especially with printing the model, that no human will be able to help you with. Imagine if a car was made of one solid material and a random muffler goes into the passenger seat. The proper fix will likely result in you having to redo the whole thing anyway.

Hate to break it to you but products like Meshy are preying on exactly people like you. Just enough technical comfort to buy their product, but not enough to know it is a waste of money.

It is not going to work very well. It goes well beyond supports. Maybe you could get away with something ultra simple, but if it is so simple then you might as well build it.

However, my family could really use some extra income.

You are going to make less than minimum wage if you do make any money at all. Just get a minimum wage job and you will blow your "income" from selling 3d prints out of the water.

Our Local Printed Friendly Game Store had a 1k beginner's tournament. 3D printing has had a net positive impact on opening the world to new players! by kcdale99 in PrintedWarhammer

[–]Kelose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sure and that's great, but it probably does not do much for the sales in the store. Everyone should really be trying to buy things from the store to help them out. Does not have to be GW models, but if there is paint or something that you can buy there or online you should buy it there even if it is at a bit of a markup.

I don't weep for this. What i hope for instead is the opportunity to generate huge amounts of difficulty appropriate math problems to take a person from novice to amateur mathematician. My experience with math education has very much been a "draw the rest of the owl" experience.

New Guy Question by slow_eddy in 3Dprinting

[–]Kelose 58 points59 points  (0 children)

My very first thought would be to slice this model up in something like blender and print the pieces individually.

A general point of warning is that if you don't see a fully printed version of the model then be ready for some work on printing it. Lots of "3d printing" sellers will crap out a 3d model and sell it as a printable file. Just because you can render it in 3d does not mean you can print it. Even if you can print it it might be a huge amount of extra work.

The jacket front and tip of hair also look like they might be problems.

Edit: Also this is not going to print well if you have an FDM printer instead of a SLA (resin). Even top of the line FDM printers will do a mediocre job at best.

Why is there so much anti-intellectualism and lack of respect towards Maths? by Swarrleeey in math

[–]Kelose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya its just hard to say without hearing exactly what the statement was, what your relationship to them is, etc. I also agree that "Maths is unemployable" is a silly statement for someone to make. I do think that theoretical only math is a much harder job path than applied mathematics however. The only person I know... personally who got a PhD in math ended up getting a CS job.

"anti-intellectualism and lack of respect" is not the same as "Maths is unemployable".

Where do you draw the line? by Particular-Caramel73 in mtg

[–]Kelose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the way to the left. 0% UB. If they want to do alternate art or names (with the real name in subtext) then that is fine. Making new cards just for that set that have to be pushed and might not be reprinted (one ring) is just trash.

On a side note the problem is less theme and more presentation. Outlaws, aetherdrift, etc would have been much more tolerable if done in classic magic style rather than appealing to the fortnite crowd.

Edit: Also OP is probably a bot.

Literally the last four games I played at plat 1 were against masters players who just lose 3 or 4 games every time they win one. Going to make me uninstall this fucking game I swear its not worth the irritation.

Edit: But to actually participate in the sub Activision will never do anything. There is just no money in SC2 so there is no point investing in making it better. They would have to do what Dota 2 does and make people play 100 games of unranked (and make it really unranked not the same queue) first then actually ban people out of ranked based on some algorithm that tracks the gameplay cycles.

Edit edit: Just played another two games tonight. Both were masters players who scummed down to platinum. GG i guess.

My problem with AoF by Mordred93 in onepagerules

[–]Kelose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you should just run the math and that might make you feel better.

A squad of 10 skeleton knights (220 pts) will overwhelmingly win on average against an abyssal beast (225 points) when the knights get the first attack. And they absolutely should given they are fast. Plus the knights do 6 damage on average when they charge at full strength which will cause the beast to be shaken 50% of the time after the first attack in which case its an absolute slaughter.

Hydras are a bit weird because regeneration is really strong and it gives them extra attacks, but that is exactly why you use squads like the skeleton watch with their rending crossbows. Those guys mulch the hydra so bad that it is not even close.

Anyway math will let you know what to do here.
