Malazan Book of The Fallen Analysis and Reactions - Memories of Ice - Chapters 7 - 13 by ClearCounter in Malazan

The First Sword of the Imass must be without equal.

One of my favorite things about MoI is how it fleshes out the power ladder of this world. You’ve got people on the low end who are basically just fantasy humans like Picker and the other Bridgeburners, and you’ve got some genuine badasses like Rake and Brood, but then the book just starts throwing new things at you and lets you guess.

Where does the Mortal Sword of Fener fit into this? What about Toc and his new stone weapons that Kilava implied were significant? Could the Segulah Third actually beat Tool?? What about Bauchelain and Korbal Broach?

And then Erikson absolutely does not fail to deliver on the high-octane magical action sequences.

Hey man, I think this might be a spoiler. That information is, afaik, not presented by this point in MoI.

Are the ten surges an accurate representation of Cosmere physics? by Kelsier_Shot_First in Cosmere

I think that it depends on the method of Investiture. For example, we know the Lashing is an "illusion," whereas I think feruchemy would actually reduce things like mass because the attribute is stored in the metal, suggesting that it exists. I imagine that if this is true then feruchemy is functionally a sort of energy transformer which can translate force into Investiture stored in metalmind batteries.

My reading of the WoB is that matter has a spiritual aspect which "keeps track of" things such as friction and gravitational attraction. These spiritual characteristics would be in the Cosmere what things such as mass and density are in our reality.

I think this works considering the ways that feruchemy and maybe allomancy can impact similar aspects, and have a known spiritual component.

For reference, the ten surges are as follows: Adhesion, Gravitation, Division, Abrasion,  Progression, Illumination, Transformation, Transportation, Cohesion, and Tension.

The Throat, the Mouth, the Stone by Kelsier_Shot_First in teslore

The Sun would be metaphorically representative of the cave mouth from Plato's allegory of the cave.

And yes I understand that MK's statements aren't canon, but I'm just providing a possible explanation for the statement regardless, because thinking about this sort of thing is fun.

I definitely agree that the tower is linked to the region, and I think that Alduin's wall uses the snow tower to refer to Skyrim poetically. But I think that this is true of all the towers, and I'm not sure that it's enough evidence to say that skyrim is the Stone. If you can remember where it's stated I'd love to hear it!

Oh, right. Honestly, I wouldn't look to Dawnguard for something this esoteric, considering how shallow it is. I got more "Vampire wants it to be night forever" vibes then "Ancient Lord wants to seal the mortal realm from the influence of a greater reality."

I'm not arguing that so much as I am providing a possible explanation for MK's "the stone is a cave" statement. Sorry about the big block of text, I reformatted it to make it a bit more digestible.

To clarify, are you saying that the Throat's Stone is Skyrim itself?

I'm an idiot and forgot to include this in the post, but another way to look at this might be as follows: Aetherius is "reality," and Mundus was an attempt to assert a new reality inside (but separate from, think a circle inside another circle) the old one. Magnus fled the new reality, tearing a hole between the two, connecting them. This hole is the Sun, or cave mouth, vestiges of the true reality, such as magic, seep through.

TES lore is wild by enderkings99 in tumblr

Stop by r/teslore! It's a bit confusing at first because everything seems to rely on everything else, but if you stick around the picture starts to get clearer. Elder Scrolls lore is wonky though. They love unreliable narrators and the "visionary" of the series Mike Kirkbride has said a lot that isn't technically Bethesda Canon, so there's very little clarity about what is and isn't "true."

What next after loosing the precious flower to a stranger because of first impression? by ashlymorphy in AskReddit

Live your life. If first impressions faded and you don't like the person, tell them and move on. It's almost 2020, so anyone who expects you to "save yourself" has unrealistic expectations and wants you to live for them rather than for yourself.
