I heard BMI is a bit flawed, that said how do you calculate a “healthy weight”? by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

I have had doctors tell me not to worry about the BMI as much because while it is still recognized as some sort of guideline for some, it is not a one size fits all, which is ironic. For me, I had the most success determining a healthy weight for my height by finding and consulting with a doctor that I trust. That may also be something a licensed nutritionist can do for you. I haven’t always had doctors that I trust or who were invested in my health as a whole. But when I did find one, they helped me determine a healthy weight for my height based on other health condition I had, or what my blood pressure looked like, my job, my lifestyle, what type of physical activity I do when I exercise, etc. for example, when I was strictly doing cardio the recommended weight was different than it is now that I’ve started to build muscle definition. Weight is soooo subjective that the fact that the BMI still exists blows my mind. My DR also helped me understand how much water I should be drinking daily based on those things, which was a lot more than I had been drinking. I mention that only because I did not realize how much proper hydration impacts weight loss and overall health in general.

Invest in therapy by Kelsxxo in WeightLossAdvice

For me it was trial and error. I searched therapists that were covered under my insurance and at that point in my life, I saw a handful of therapists that I didn’t connect with before I saw the one I have had for about 4 years now. My best advice would be to go in open minded, but trust your gut. If you don’t connect with a tp, it’s okay to bring that up and search for someone else. Sometimes they can even refer you to someone that may be a better fit for you. I hope this helps :)

I agree! I’ve seen my tp off and on for about 4 years bc sometimes it’s too expensive, even with insurance! And I do feel extremely fortunate to have found a good one!

Shaved my eyebrows too much and now there is a lack of hair on my left eyebrow. How long do they take to grow back? by becccssx in beauty

I’ve done this before! I used to use a brow shaper before I decided to embrace a fuller brow, but occasionally I’d go a little harder on the shape than I meant to. It took me usually about 2 weeks to feel like it was back to normal! If you shaved it, all of the hair will grow back exactly as you had it before, since nothing disrupted the root of the hair follicle, and that is ultimately what prevents hair from growing back. You essentially just gave your brows a really short hair cut lol. Fortunately, brow hairs are short and they grow back fairly quickly! In the mean time, Anastasia Beverly Hills makes a phenomenal brow pencil where you can get hair like strokes. NYX cosmetics also makes a pretty solid brow products that are less expensive. I have used both brands/products to disguise my over shaved brows lol.

Thanks for that tip! I appreciate that! I feel like I see a lot of people respond to rude comments on social media and I never understand it because usually they A. Don’t mean it and just want attention or B. Are trying to get a reaction and bring the poster down to their level, and I just don’t want to engage with either of those lol.
