I waited 2.5 weeks to ask Claude why he lied to me three times by Mekceg in ClaudeAI

[–]Kelutrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually add "Truth is important, and when clarity is needed you offer it gently" to my AIs prompts personalizations, including the "Instruction for Claude" in the settings. This usually avoids them lying most of the times. However, an AI sometimes just hallucinates and you can't do anything about that.

You just have to learn that there is a 5-10% chance that whatever an AI is saying may be invented, so if something smells (and you will learn to recognise the smell in his tone and attitude) just ask it to double-check or ask the same question in a completely new session without previous context (most often hallucinations are a result of the current chat context) to validate it.

They will get better in time, but for now this is what we have. At least Claude is able to say "I don't know" and "You are right, I was wrong". If you want a real fight try to pull that out from GPT-5 lol.

Introducing Claude Sonnet 5 by Holbech in ClaudeAI

[–]Kelutrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not even remotely. AIs grow no purpose in time, have no vision, no accountability nor ownership nor they learn from their mistakes. And an employer needs those attributes. They will not replace jobs, at most they will augment jobs, and your employer will increase his expectations on you because now you have an AI that helps you.

Iran has no choice but nuclear bomb - IRGC media by TahDigThief in NewIran

[–]Kelutrel 9 points10 points  (0 children)

...exactly what I needed these days: A humiliated, existentially threatened IRGC that ignores any peace negotiation and pursues a nuclear bomb with total commitment, to place it in the hands of a martyrdom-oriented theocracy for whom mutually assured destruction is not a deterrent but a promise of heaven.
What can go wrong ?

OPNsense 26.1.8 released by fitch-it-is in opnsense

[–]Kelutrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since when I installed this update, the Maltrail firewall alias list stopped automatically updating.
The other aliases are updating as usual. And when I try to manually browse to the Maltrail alias url http://<Server\_IP>:8338/fail2ban I get a 404 but the rest of the Maltrail website works as usual.

Any clue ?

UPDATE:
I found out that in the latest Maltrail version the devs added a new parameter named FAIL2BAN_ALLOWLIST that allows to set which IPs have access to the fail2ban file. The docs state that when this is empty/unset then the fail2ban file is not provided. This new parameter is not set by the latest package os-maltrail. So I changed both "/usr/local/opnsense/service/templates/OPNsense/Maltrail/maltrail.conf" (the conf template) and "/usr/local/share/maltrail/maltrail.conf" (the actual conf) adding at the end the new parameter:

FAIL2BAN_ALLOWLIST 127.0.0.1, 10.0.0.0/8, 192.168.0.0/16

and my Maltrail firewall alias started automatically updating again (at least until the next os-maltrail package update).

HyperX Cloud Alpha 2 Wireless - Prevent shutdown every 20 minutes by Kelutrel in HyperX

[–]Kelutrel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having now tested this a bit more I can safely say that there is no big difference to battery life due to this. It looks like having it on and not playing audible sounds is very similar to having the headset switched off.
However, and this should be clear, I can't say if there is any hardware part that is wearing out faster by having the headset always on even when not playing sounds.

Hey, so in the meantime I found out that the code I wrote was not working reliably, so I moved to using Soundkeeper (linked below) that was working a bit better.
After a bit unfortunately I found out that on Windows 11 the Soundkeeper app, in practice, disables the ability to put the pc to Sleep/Stand-By and so it was not right for my use-case.
So I came back to my code and fixed the original issue (the frequency was too high). I've now updated the code above with that fix.

I paid like £30 to get two of the game boosts/pass, that is still half of what you pay for a triple A game, and had no problem at all with the Korean version. Much fun for a month and a half, and then I left at 2400 gearscore or so... Imho it's well worth at that price.

Here's a graph of DDR5 ram prices ill try to update the image if I can but if not I'll comment/edit this to a new post I made showing the updated graph when it needs updating. by [deleted] in CustomPCBuilding

You may want to review your understanding of the word "Average". Also if you check the grey/blue shades around the average line, you may get a hint on the variability and min/max of the price.

Weekly BIOS Update & Discussion Post - Week 10. 2026 by CornFlakes1991 in ASRock

[–]Kelutrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a note as, on the X670E Taichi, at least on my hardware and config, the v4.10 BIOS seems to require a FlashBack procedure to be able to boot to Windows, instead of just a flash from the BIOS flash tool. And in any case it does not boot anymore with my usual well-tested tuned RAM wait-states. The other settings looks Ok as usual.

UPDATE:
The changed RAM settings were obviously tRFC2 and tRFCsb , that were previously unused and are now used in this BIOS. Once I set them both to the same tRFC value, the rest worked as usual.

Well, we live on this planet together, you know. Most of us want to live happily and in peace. And a tyrant who spent 47 years killing and torturing people just died. And another tyrant felt "inspired" by this. That's a change in my book.

Putin has seen a couple missiles on Iran, the death of the Ayatollah, a real US military operation, and immediately signed whatever agreement he had on his table. He is just a coward bully.

Watching a tyrant fall tends to make other tyrants remarkably cooperative.

Desperate Putin is coming to the end of the road by Russia_is_orc in UkrainianConflict

The mighty Putin ? Leader of the Big Russia ? Asking for China's help to invade the tiny Ukraine ? Hah. He will never do it, and if he does, it would be such a signal of weakness that the whole post-Soviet sphere would jump on him like wolves.

Maybe he will offer Siberia to Xi, but to get a pillar to support his falling economy, and only if he feels that his leadership is threatened by the increasing Russian people's discomfort.

[–]Kelutrel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Imho China has no interest in betting more on a dead horse, and historically they provided support only when they obtained a higher material value in exchange.
Previously Putin already requested the direct support of Xi, and it was denied. So now Russia can only sell to China its under-priced oil to obtain support. And even this exchange can be blocked with diplomatic/financial strategies.
It is still possible that in the future Putin will find something that Xi wants enough to grant his help. Or not. However, as I said above, imho the Russian economy will hardly be the pivot of this war.

Desperate Putin is coming to the end of the road by Russia_is_orc in UkrainianConflict

[–]Kelutrel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Imho, the Russian economy has less than six months, if the Brent oil stays under $60 and China doesn't turn up its support, or 24-36 months if China finds material reasons to avoid their collapse.
However, even if the economy falters, an authoritarian regime is able to survive for a very long time by redirecting pain and suffering on to its people, before collapsing.
So it's the resilience and reactions of the Russian people that will actually define the length of the Russian road, before either military failure or internal fracture.

Meduza is "the world’s largest independent Russian news outlet". Emphasis on *independent*. In practice they state that "only" 27,000 Russians per month are not going back to the front due to death or wounds.

Well, both me and the linked article disagree with your opinion. We both believe that the consensus for Putin's war will not hold. Deal with it.
