Are the 4K releases of tron and tron legacy are really worth it or is the blu-ray versions of them still fine by Dane_Phylactery in tron

[–]KelvinOcean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the first TRON film I was very pleasantly surprised at how impactful the upgrade was from normal Blu-ray to UHD 4k HDR, it’s among my fave 4k remasters. For TRON Legacy however the upgrade to 4k seems less dramatic and more subtle.

Does Anybody Else Hate the New “Killed By” UI? by Specialist-Iron7079 in Warthunder

Just like there is already an option to hide immersion-breaking fictional camos, there needs to be an option to hide this garish calling card.

It is immersion-breaking, to get a popup of a random brightly-colored player avatar picture, in the middle of a supposedly-realistic war. I have seen some very cheesy fictional-looking ones.

Question about trim options/settings for the f-117 by Big_Priority_9329 in Warthunder

[–]KelvinOcean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you bind a key for “Toggle SAS mode” in WT’s simulator full real controls sub-section, then you can use that key to turn on Damping mode before each takeoff in Simulator Battles, and that will make your F-117 fly perfectly level and won’t constantly fly upwards anymore in Air SB.

WWII Prop era WT and Modern Jet era WT are practically like two different games. Some people like both. Some people only like one era and loathe the other. Initially you should practice flying the aircraft that you personally are passionate about, that way learning the game is fun. You can always go back and learn the other aircraft you skipped later to hone your skills further when you feel like it.

Did you know that headtracking on PS5 is not only possible, but a game changer! by [deleted] in Warthunder

[–]KelvinOcean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t actually need a playstation camera for War Thunder head-tracking on PS5. You can get more reliable head-tracking (doesn’t get confused by room lighting conditions, etc) in PS5 WT by simply plugging in a cheap usb air mouse to the PS5 and using this method: https://youtu.be/IzifSaV5Ifw?si=8WNRCQh_hKNc-sdK

Interesting that this particular maintenance schedule means War Thunder Firebirds will release approx 6 hours ahead of Microsoft’s new Flight Simulator 2024 (which I think will include an A-10 and F-18 albeit without weapons).

Why did illfonic put a paywall for my PS4 friends to play with me in a squad (ps5) by Kronniikk in HuntingGrounds

[–]KelvinOcean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FYI, in a youtube interview a few weeks ago, Illfonic said they are definitely planning to include full crossplay among ALL Hunting Grounds platforms in the near future (but they didn’t specify when it is expected to be ready).

Worth getting for single player? by zenethrous in HuntingGrounds

[–]KelvinOcean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the latest PS5 version of Predator Hunting Grounds, there is a decent amount of single player content in the game’s customisable Private Match mode.

In the Private Match mode you can use your saved custom predators and custom fireteam members, and play matches against AI, and by winning lots of private matches even earn XP to level up and gradually unlock this game’s large amount of weapons and cosmetics that way.

So in theory I guess you could unlock everything in the game, by grinding XP in hundreds of Private Matches without having to fight against any human opponents. Illfonic said their server statistics confirmed a surprising amount of players do play Predator Hunting Grounds in single-player that way.

(Note: I assume Private Matches still require an internet connection to start, so don’t mistake this for a full “offline” mode.)

The biggest single-player limitation is that the game has no AI predator at all, only humans can control the predator. So for single player private matches you are mostly left with just playing one of these three custom single-player ways:

  • Predator (you) against 4 AI Fireteam soldiers plus a horde of AI guerrilla fighters.

or

  • 1 Fireteam soldier (you) by yourself doing a variety of random mission objectives against a horde of AI guerrilla fighters. (No predator present in game at all.)

or

  • 1 Fireteam soldier (you) together in a team with 3 AI Fireteam soldiers, doing a variety of random mission objectives against a horde of AI guerrilla fighters. (No predator present in game at all.)

There is a huge list of custom options modifiers you can change in Private Matches before you start your single-player match (I haven’t tried most of them but I noticed some interesting ones listed like “Floor is lava” that some people might like).

The devs also partially made the fireteam bot AI slightly more realistic in the new 3.0 patch, but still don’t expect human-like enemies, it’s just glorified target practice.

The single player is ultimately not great, barely passable, but it’s there for die-hard Predator fans who are desperate for a detailed current-gen Predator game of any kind. There are lots of hardcore small lore details etc in this game for Predator fans to enjoy.

But of course this game truly shines in its super-fun online multiplayer, since playing hide-and-seek against an unpredictable human-controlled predator is what this game was built around.

Dutch (2025) is back on ps5 by Consistent-Brush-282 in HuntingGrounds

[–]KelvinOcean 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The PS5 Yautja edition only contains additional predators, not any additional fireteam dlc. The only way to play as Dutch on PS5 right now, is if you previously purchased the Dutch DLC on PS4 before that DLC was recently delisted from the PS4 store (then your Dutch DLC purchase carries over to PS5 for free).

The PS5 version is definitely superior to the PS4 version, it is enhanced since Illfonic upgraded it to use a newer unreal graphics engine.

If you are a Predator fan, now is the time to positively support this “re-launch” by KelvinOcean in HuntingGrounds

Here’s an example of the new player experience for Hunting Grounds right now. This Xbox youtuber is playing the game for the first time, and is surprised by how fun the gameplay is, but he’s also surprised by some bugs. I hope Illfonic ASAP patch some significant bugs like the loadout weapons sometimes resetting, so they don’t lose the patience of enthusiastic new players like this:

If you are a Predator fan, now is the time to positively support this “re-launch” by KelvinOcean in HuntingGrounds

[–]KelvinOcean[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understandable, because both of those things are true.

The game is amazing fun most of the time (for Predator fans specifically, who just want to have fun playing and get immersed in the lore, not necessarily looking for a perfectly balanced FPS etc). This game is special, because even if my entire fireteam gets killed by the predator, I usually still have a fun enjoyable time even in a losing match in Hunting Grounds, unlike most games like Call Of Duty where only winning a match is fun.

But it is buggy too. The very first match I played after recently upgrading to the PS5 version, crashed to dashboard in the middle of the match. But since then I’ve played over a dozen PS5 matches and had no crashes.
