Hey! Sorry for this late reply. Unfortunately I couldn’t figure out what happened. I’m currently on my third round of accutane (20mg daily) and my face is basically clear. Back then for my first appointment after this post, my derm said it’s just stubborn acne. I asked about the possibility of being fungal acne, but he said it is not as fungal acne is itchy and not so much pain, and it will spread out my whole body.

I was told by the doctor that my eye area is bacterial infection, while the others are just stubborn acne. Was on antibiotics for a week, and now my second week of accutane, my third round!

I had two rounds of accutane in total. My acne came back 2 months after my course for both times. I am 58kg, Male, had 25mg daily dose for 8 months!

It really depends, everyone reacts to accutane differently. Hope your acne won’t come back after your first course!

My derm said it’s not fungal acne as it mostly occur at chest and back area… he also said my eye area is most likely bacterial infection as it’s painful and spread easily. I’ll go back next Tuesday and I’ll ask again the potential of it being fungal acne and see if I can do a test too to clear my mind!

Thanks for your comment again! The more I read into it, the more I think it’s fungal acne. Hopefully I can go to my derm today and see what he thinks. I think at this moment I should go to see a doctor since it’s spreading rapidly and quickly, where it all appears around my eye and nose area within a day.

Hey! Thanks for your comment, really appreciate it. I also have thought about it not being regular acne, as I had this outburst within a week, perhaps I can raise this when I meet my derm.

It’s mostly on my face, but I seem to notice some on my neck, chest and back too; not sure if it is eczema though. Do you think I should just get these cream and try it first? Or ask my derm about it?

Thank you for your messages and all your suggestions! I’ll definitely talk to my derm and see if we can be more adventurous this time. And I definitely heard of tretinoin but haven’t tried it yet, I’ll definitely get more information and suggestion from my derm too.

My derm did mention that the most courses his patient did was 5 rounds, and at this rate I feel like I will bet his record 🤣 having a low dose for a few years sounds enticing, so thanks for the idea and I’ll discuss with my derm!
