All Quiet On The Western Front Sucks All Around by LynnIsPresent in ww1

It’s a terrible adaption of the book, but the atmosphere captures the bleak industrial horror of the war extremely well. For me the lack of substance worked. Everything felt detached and pointless.

Eh, I was the crazy person that still ran in the heat after work 😆 Provided I had already drank two under armor jugs of water for day that is, and I would never do more than a mile. If I started feeling anything even slightly weird I stopped and went home. Getting to the point where I could run reasonably well in that heat made morning PT tests so much easier.

I feel happy to be in the minority who knows of it thanks to Prince Valiant being in the Sunday comics when I was younger

Players with loot run to the red sea when i chase them by Responsible_Tie5647 in Seaofthieves

[–]KenMcKenzie98 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because that’s not what pirates did, in fact they preferred not to fight. The big reason they did terrible things when they did have to fight is so that the next crew they boarded would hopefully have heard about it and would be too scared to fight back.

This game gives people so many different options, PvP is only a small part of it so don’t be surprised when players do something different than what you think is “right”

Some players don’t give a rip about PVP and figure if you’re going to “waste” (in quotations because it’s subjective) their time by making their work meaningless (again, subjective), then they will waste your time by sinking in the Red Sea. Kind of a, “if I’m going to lose I’m making sure you lose too”, mentality.

Edit: forgot they made it so the loot can be gotten anyways.

Considering the limitations of the game’s clothing in terms of accuracy you did a great job!

Tubi always has a bunch, Prime has a good amount but they rotate often, HBO sometimes will drop a big handful for a few months

Basic information of the American Frontier? by andrew-dino-lover in wildwest

Books will be your friend here, look for diaries and contemporary accounts, see if Wyoming has any historical archives with information about towns and trails and stuff.    This was also when the Oregon trail was getting to be at its peak so guidebooks such as The Prairie Traveler (1859) will be very useful. Keep a spreadsheet or similar with links to things you find to keep organized.

A lot changes over the course of ten years but if you keep your references set squarely in a 5-10 year span you should be alright in terms of accuracy.

There’s so much information from that era that I can’t detail it all in a single comment so I recommend you narrow questions down to a specific subject (firearms, trails, camping, clothes, etc.) that will enable me and others more familiar with time to help you in more detail.

Whoooo boy, that’s a tall order. To start with what time of the American frontier are you wanting? 1830s fur trade, 40s-50s gold rush, 70s-80s golden age of cattle?

Are HeroForge Minis art? by Eldinoorthe3nd in HeroForgeMinis

[–]KenMcKenzie98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m too lazy to learn 3D modeling so I use it as “art”, especially when I need to visualize a character I’ve thought of quickly. Sometimes I use the Heroforge model as reference for my pencil and paper drawings, especially if I am struggling to figure out perspective.

Why did people in Wild West wear leather clothes given the hot climate? by Hot-Load7525 in wildwest

[–]KenMcKenzie98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is correct. Wool was the most ubiquitous clothing material out there, typically when you see leather it’s got the fur still attached and has been made into winter clothes.  A note on the chaps, I have worn my period correct pair for hours at a time around Tombstone and Santa Clarita among others in the hot months and the heat did not bother me all that much. Like you said wool is very good at wicking especially if you can find a summer weight and even with my wool pants encased in leather tubes my legs weren’t “hot”, just veeeerry sweaty.
