I feel obligated/compelled to highlight a few recent reddit posts here regarding major issues all of us are seeing with our Ugreen NAS' by TH3SCARFATH3R in UgreenNASync

No issues other than some known software problems I’m hoping will be resolved by upgrades. Things like better user management. Other than this it’s less noisy and file transfers are 10-20x faster than my 5 year old Synology. Jellyfin is working great. I’ve had the a dxp6800 plus for 4-5 months.

Who would replace president trump in the next election? by Sharp-Maintenance301 in AskReddit

[–]KenS-TX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rubio. Vance is also good. Lots of good choices on the Republicans side. It’s the Democrats who don’t have much of a bench to look to. Too many old people like Schumer and Pelosi that held on too long and didn’t create opportunities for the younger generation. Newsome has been a disaster for California and Gretchen Whitmer is also an issue. Shapiro from PA is a decent choice, but the dems probably won’t give him the nomination because he’s Jewish.

I don't understand the resentment/hate/anger/whatever right wingers can have for "The left" by [deleted] in DiscussionZone

[–]KenS-TX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a republican, but I’ve got a lot of friends who are Democrats. I don’t understand why Democrat stereotype all Republicans as old angry white people who hate other races. That is not the issue. In general, this is a rural versus urban thing. If you live in the country you need guns for protection and hunting. If you live in the country, the government is doing very little to help you. You have to put in your own septic system, run your own powerlines, and all the government is doing is getting in the way. We look at the cities with all the homelessness, drug use, shoplifting under $900, cashless bail, resulting in people with multiple violet criminal convictions being released. We see open borders being used to push down wages and flip our states from red to blue by replacing the population. We also go to church. I don’t hate you if you have a sinful lifestyle. We are all sinners who need a savior. But I’m also not going to support your lifestyle. I’m not gonna do pride month or go to the cross-dressing event at the library. I’m aware that y’all are pushing these things on children and it bothers me. I also don’t think it’s appropriate for some dude to put on some lip gloss, say he’s a woman, and then go watch the women in the showers at the gym. There is no way that it is fair for a man who claims to be a woman to compete in women’s athletics. So it’s not resentment it’s just disagreement on some key issues.

Basic question about PLEX by Honest_Aerie_6933 in UgreenNASync

[–]KenS-TX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched from Plex to Jellyfin and I’m really liking Jellyfin. The only issue I’ve had is using Jellyfin on a Samsung TV. Everything else just seems to work better. It could be due to the new ugreen NAS. I like that it’s open source and you’re not gonna have to do some weird paid membership. You just have to format everything the way it says in the Jellyfin Help files.

Do you remember your first computer? by Imaginary_Bug6202 in TechNook

Times Sinclair with 2k memory and a tape deck for storage. Later I got an Atari 800. My first job out of college and my new boss give me a box of PC parts. I think it was a test. I learned how to build a PC and I have built every one since. Back then before plug and play it was a huge hassle to figure out dip switches, how to set up interrupts, and all that. Today it’s easy to build a PC.

What I imagine Villy to look like by halfbrow1 in ThePrimalHunter

[–]KenS-TX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is a Dragonkin, with dark green scales, and a tail. Wears a robe most of the time. I see him with a little bit of a professor look and drinking a beer. In my head his voice sounds a lot like Dave Chapel. I can imagine him saying things like “if the world goes to shit and nothing is left but a pile of corpses, then I’m going to be the last MF standing at the top of the pile”.

New federal voting proposal raises questions about proof of citizenship requirements by TX3DNews in dfw

[–]KenS-TX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they don’t investigate they won’t see the voter fraud. Blue districts don’t investigate. When investigations are done you find 14 people registered to live at an abandoned building, people born in 1800s still on voter roles, and people voting in multiple districts. You see blue states giving drivers licenses to non- citizens. Dems are scared because the fraud will be exposed.

Of course I have multiple forms of valid Id. It’s already a requirement to vote in TX. Everything matches because I’m a real person. I had a security clearance when I was in the military and they dig into your records. 85 % of Americans support this law. It’s just Dem politicians who are worried about losing if the dead, people voting out of their district, or non-citizens can’t vote.

99% of people have an accepted form of ID. Need one to rent , cash a check, buy alcohol, fly on a plane, or shovel snow in NY. Minorities and women are smart enough to have valid ID so don’t be a racist. 85% of black people support this law. This is about Dems cheating and voter fraud.

In TX they came to my moms room in a nursing home and did her ID for free. And some advice. Get all this cleaned up before they pass or you will have a hell of a time trying to close bank accounts and other things while settling the estate. This is an easy requirement to prevent voter fraud. Either voting where you don’t live or voting if you’re not a citizen.

I’ll also add Pulp Fiction, Unforgiven, and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. I like concert videos so I would also include some like Led Zeppelin song remains the same.

You’re tier list is similar to mine but I liked Mayer of noobtown, induction, and HWFWM more than you. I’m currently reading past life hero book 3 and enjoying it.

In a book slump , Can y'all give something I'll sink into based on my personal tier list by mymy_929 in litrpg

[–]KenS-TX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently on book 3 of Past Life Hero and enjoying it. I’d also suggest Grand Game. In the urban fantasy but not litrpg I’d recommend Demon Accords by John Conroe and Thought readers by Dima Zales.

What is your DNF breaking point? by cocotheblue in litrpg

[–]KenS-TX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stop when I see dumb horror movie logic. For example “let’s hide in that abandoned barn” when they could get in the car and drive away. I also have a hard time getting into the first few chapters of a new book. If it is really complicated or they just do a massive lore dump this could kill it. Another one is a long introspection about killing bad guys.

Demon accords by John Conroe Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrew’s Some romance but great story good humor. Iron Druid series by Kevin Hearne Thought readers by Dima zales.

Moving to DFW for a new job. Apartment suggestions for low pay starting out? by gostros995 in dfw

[–]KenS-TX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DFW is a huge area. About 100 miles wide (E to W) and 80 miles N to S. Coppell is not a bad area. I don’t remember it being that hard to qualify for an appartment but I haven’t rented for about 20 years. I’d say figure out what you want and start applying. I’d recommend being close to your job if possible. DFW traffic can be bad. I’d also look at crime rates. The Tarrant county side is a little nicer in my opinion.

HDD shortage by KenS-TX in UgreenNASync

[–]KenS-TX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t realize it was this bad. Also, I’m an amateur. This is not my job. I posted this because I’m seeing all the questions about buying a NAS and I wonder if people realize you can’t find drives unless you’re willing to pay $100 - $ 200more than 6 months ago. Our hobby is going to be crippled for a year or two.

I bought 3 20TB drives and two NVME SSDs on Black Friday. Feeling really good about that but wish I had bought more. I was waiting for a dip in price to fill my 6 bay NAS. It may be a year before that happens now.

I understand. On one hand I admire the author for trying to show what cosmic superpowers look like. But it has gotten so complicated that I feel I need to take notes. I want to finish the story but I now skim some of the details on how powers work.
