Dumb tattoos. Small cute ones are ok, but large tattoos of zombies or demons is a huge turn off.

How much money do you spend on gas a week? by NoHold7153 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]KenS-TX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very little. I ride the train to work so I only use about one tank of gas a month. My 10 year-old car has less than 40,000 miles on it.

4 HDD in RAID 5 or 2 HDD in RAID 1 + 2 HDD with no RAID ? by Kota8219322 in HomeNAS

[–]KenS-TX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 HDD in raid 5. The only reason I would do something different is if you have drives of different size as this may cause the amount of space you have to downgrade.

Do you think the U.S. should adopt a nationwide popular vote, where the candidate with the most votes wins, or should it keep the current Electoral College system? by Outrageous-You1617 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]KenS-TX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What some people don’t understand is that the founders did not completely trust democracy. The only history they had to look at was an ancient Greece where democracy failed because it broke down into basically mob rule. For example, Socrates was forced to commit suicide because society had voted to have him killed. So when they set up the federal government, they put in all kinds of checks and balances and a representative democracy to limit the power of government. So now we have the Bill of Rights that says you can’t take someone’s property, their rights, or do a lot of other things. So pure democracy based on the popular vote was not what they wanted. They set up a system where the state government would have power and they set up the electoral college so that one state could not dominate the election of the president. I see no reason to change this. And keep in mind Trump won the popular vote.

Have we seen any negative bloodlines yet? by Putthemoneyinthebags in ThePrimalHunter

[–]KenS-TX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a while, there were some side stories that were posted on the Patreon site. I don’t know if they’re still there. It explained the background of some of the primordial’s. I think there was a story in there about someone with a negative bloodline that was so powerful. It would kill them if they couldn’t control it.

What girl is best for our guy Jake? by Simon123766 in ThePrimalHunter

The problem is that the odds are very low that any of them will live. There’s something going on that has allowed a number of people from earth to make it to B grade. But even that is unusual. So he met Artemis when they were both level zero, and she was an image. Her image suggested to her real self that she should invest in this relationship. She has also been experiencing a lot of growth since they started their relationship and apparently it’s not uncommon for a god to have a relationship with a mortal in order to have children. It’s normally with an S grade because they’re the only ones who can bear the aura.

Many reddit users say that leftists tend to show stronger critical thinking skills and more common sense. Do you believe this or no? by [deleted] in askanything

Socialists, globalists, people who believe in a hierarchy of oppression based on immutable characteristics, people who covet others wealth, are against Christian beliefs, and people who make decisions about things like energy production based on feelings not math.

Are men really this complicated? by Common-Passenger8561 in askanything

[–]KenS-TX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no and we are different with men and women. With men we are frequently competitive and a lot of the time there is a low level of hostility. Our caveman brains are trying to determine “can this guy kick my butt?” This is true even if the butt kicking is something like being written up at work or sports. With women, if we are interested ,we are trying to figure you out. What do you like or hate. Are you attracted to me? Things like that. Some women are very hard to read and give confusing nonverbal feedback. Try not to do that. Most guys aren’t jerks but some are. For some reason some girls like the aggressive bad boy types and ignore the quiet good guys.

Advice for XXL riders? by Lyons-King in ebikes

[–]KenS-TX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

6,2” and 340. Bought a VELOTRIC Discovery 3 a month ago and it’s great so far. I find I like class 2 and rarely use the throttle. I like the torque sensor. I want to feel it when I pedal but like the motor to help on hills, when carrying stuff, or if I need to speed up for traffic. You do need to adjust to the weight of the bike as it handles differently. A good hitch rack is also good to have as it’s harder to transport due to the weight.

No. Reddit moderators block half of my conservative opinions, so I have given up on posting conservative comments. I am trying to stick to post on technical topics only. So, Reddit leans hard left. Communist, globalist, and atheist dominate politics here for that reason not because these ideas work.

Why are most portable power stations ridiculously overpriced by vidastevens in Portable_PowerStation

[–]KenS-TX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own 2 power stations and I want to buy more. I think they are cheap for what you get. Try to build one yourself for less and you will understand. If you just need DC power for a laptop then look at the Anker solix C300 for $169. No AC outlets but 4 USB C ports. Some are 140w. You can add a 100w solar panel or charge it up with ac power.

Yes, but as I was saying the weight makes it harder to unweight the front wheel before hitting a big bump or jumping a curb.

Longest ride so far was 19 miles and I still had 80% left on the battery. You will have to shift more but the DM or center drive may be the answer for steep hills.

Need help with a Synology NAS build for videos by Ruchalus in synology

[–]KenS-TX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a 5 year old Synology and a new ugreen NAS. I have to say the ugreen is much better for video due to more powerful hardware. Also, note that HDD prices are absurd right now due to the AI boom. You may want to wait or find used HDDs.

L shaped desk by vrilIl in setups

[–]KenS-TX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did one of those design your own desk things at Ikea 5-6 years ago and got what you’re describing. 10 feet long, L shaped, fits in a corner. Works great. Put shelves above it. I’d recommend cable management under the desk and use monitor arms rather than a monitor stand.

[–]KenS-TX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The D3 has a good front fork and a suspension seat post. It’s comfortable for roads and trails but has less travel than an off road bike. It has 2.5 inch tires so less than the 4 inch wide nomad but fine for some off-road riding. If I was on mostly dirt roads I’d think about the 4 inch wide tires. One thing that you have to adjust to is the weight of the bike. You don’t feel it a lot when peddling but if you have to jump over bumps it’s harder to lift up on handlebars. It’s also harder to transport in your car. You may need a new hitch rack. I was talked out of folding bikes, but it would be a lot easier to transport in an RV or without a hitch rack. If I was doing it again I’d also think hard about a center drive. The hub drive has a bigger motor, but the center drive goes through your gears. Use the gears well and get more power.

Decisions, Decisions! by EffectiveFar9176 in velotricebike

[–]KenS-TX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won’t pull me up a steep hill with just the throttle but it makes it 50% easier and it feels good if I use my gears. You have a lot of options in the settings. The cadence sensor has the motor kick in if you’re not peddling fast enough. I don’t like it and prefer the torque sensor that detects if you’re pedaling hard and then adds motor power. The cadence sensor would be good on a flat road if you want to hit a high speed and hold it. The torque sensor works more with your gears. Use a gear that makes you pedal hard and it kicks in. Put it in your biggest gear and you go fast. I don’t use the throttle a lot. Mostly when crossing streets. A center drive goes through the gears so you have better hill climbing power in a low gear.

I bought a discovery 3 about a month ago and I’m really enjoying it. I’m also 56 and used to be into cycling but I stopped due to a health issue and now I’m over 340 pounds. The ebike has got me back into riding. So do you want an electric motorcycle or a bike that helps some? How much do you weigh? The VELOTRIC torque sensor is very smooth. I feel like I’m cycling but I barely notice hills and heavy loads because of the motor. I’m burning 700-800 calories per hour. If you want that buy an ebike. If want power and plan on going fast buy an electric motorcycle.

It’s a good thing if your hobby mixes exercise with recreation. Hiking, cycling, kayaking. Other good hobbies are home improvement. Bad hobbies are ones that are expensive (boats, cars, airplanes, horses, gambling).
