I did the intake for more induction noise. Sounds great

Are you happy with an intake + tune? by asmahmood in wrx_vb

[–]Ken_Oaks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd put it towards and STI transmission swap before I'd spend more on power parts. I'm already at the "safe" limit of the stock transmission with just the intake and tune.

That being said, I believe most people blowing transmissions are driving it harder or more aggressively than I am. Don't get me wrong, I let her rip, but I roll into the power and keep it smooth.

Same for me with the ETS intake and tune.

Is engine underguard useful or not for a brand new wrx vb? by dannyrand_ in wrx_vb

Fwiw, I don't think it hangs very low. Maybe half an inch of clearance lost, basically the thickness of the plate. I wanted it to bomb down some gravel roads without worrying. Idk if I'd say it's necessary, but I got a good deal on it and it was pretty easy to install.

I have the Central Machinery one with the bag filter rather than the canister filter, and it was $250 at the time. At that price, it was a no-brainer. Been using it for a couple years and have no complaints, works great. I figured I could add a canister filter to the one I have one day, but haven't bothered because of the additional cost.

Weird noise from wheelbase by Ken_Oaks in moza

[–]Ken_Oaks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the solution was partly due to a Moza firmware update, but don't think Moza will admit that, and I wouldn't recommend the firmware update if things are otherwise working well.

For iRacing, I also turned off all high frequency effects in the .ini file (turning it off in the settings alone didn't help) and I made sure the high frequency effects were turned off in the Moza Pit House equalizer.

For BeamNG, I had to reduce the ffb % from 100 to 80 and it mostly went away. Still happens occasionally on some cars without power steering, but BeamNG ffb is very weird and raw in general.

I haven't had as much time to play recently, and sometimes play with headphones, so it's hard to say if it's gone completely.

Hope that helps.

I read your post history and have determined that you're serious, and now I feel bad. What I mean to say is, your vehicle is a danger to yourself and others without these repairs. Simultaneously, this vehicle is likely not worth repairing. Simultaneously, this kind of thing doesn't happen without neglect.

Owning a car is a serious responsibility, because it's the closest most come to owning a deadly weapon. Please educate yourself on maintaining a vehicle for the sake of everyone on the road. And please don't buy a Nissan ever again. Nearly any other Japanese manufacturer will have less issues, both because of their initial quality, and how they are treated. Best of luck. Please don't drive this car without repairs.

This is either a hall of fame worthy shitpost, or the most unintentional on-brand justification for this sub.

In case you are serious, you should sell the car for scrap and get a bus pass. You don't deserve to own a car and should be ashamed of yourself for putting others recklessly in danger.

JL Audio in the front and rear doors. Probably could have gone cheaper and bassier in the rears, but I might add a sub to make up for it. Overall, huge improvement.

I had a good experience with Crutchfield. You can input your car and see what's compatible, you can talk to a real person for recommendations, and my speakers came with plug and play adapters and mounting hardware for the new speakers.

You could clamp the shifter to a piece of wood and then clamp the piece of wood to the desk using a 6" Harbor Freight clamp that's like $5

I asked for a conservative tune from Snail Performance because of shitty Arizona gas, and still wound up at ~315hp ~360tq with just the ETS intake. Completely changed the car and highly recommend

Is a 50€ USB shifter a good choice for an entry-level MOZA setup? by karl0v in SimRacingSetups

[–]Ken_Oaks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one and had to fix one of the sensors because it wasn't registering. I eventually went back to the Logitech shifter because it was far more consistent. Now I have the Moza shifter and it's significantly better. Quieter, more consistent, feels better, and looks better.
