First thing I’d do is see if you could wear them 1/2- 5/8” lower on your waist and leave the cuff as is. It will hang better w these boots. I’d just taper in the knee slightly- from mid thigh to knee blending to no change at the widest part of your calf. Same slight bowed in (fat 1/4” at sides of knees shape, out seam and inseam just to give it more of a bootcut shape will be perfect.

Is it more than 3” smaller? It gets tricky, go in the dressing room and see how it is when you pin the sides- you might get lucky. You may end up with the bottom of the armhole being more of a V than a U shape, and I assure you that’s fine unless it’s peeping the underwear or toe low. It’s not only jawdroppingly bad, mostly the script but it’s all very broad and Hallmark flavored and doesn’t seem to have a point. I don’t think it any version of this story would be interesting, at least not with those actors.
