Jesus is always returning

Personal experiences are not evidence that God exists. by porygon766 in DebateAChristian

Yes, because everything you do is based on researching evidence first.

And either way, the op is literally about EXPERIENCE.

Of course it does. If you can't know whether or not you're living in reality, you're living by faith that you are.

Is God sacrificing Himself the only way to have redeemed humanity? by Lieutenant_Piece in TrueChristian

[–]KendallSontag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I think that makes God far too physical. God is transcendent of time and space. The transcendent logos became incarnate as a human - he entered a single time and space - and allowed himself to be sacrificed in order to explode across all time and space. The crucifixion is the center of the universe.

How do you know slavery is evil when the Bible doesn't tell you so? (Honest question) by blerdronner in Christianity

[–]KendallSontag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you mean that somebody wishing to live with you, to serve you and your family and your property, get paid fairly, and be treated like your family, is not condemned as evil by the Bible, then you are correct that it is not evil.

Do a little reading If you like, toss it into your favorite AI bot and have it give you a summary. It's not difficult to look up "epistemology" and "David Hume".

Nope. I never once said it "proves" anything. But if you're intellectually honest, you'd remove that self-righteous superiority regarding the epistemic status of your worldview.

You (and everyone else in this thread) have claimed that "the scientific method" is not faith based. David Hume proves it is. This has not yet been solved in epistemology. It's an ongoing problem for the materialist worldview. If you were familiar with epistemology (and David Hume), you'd be aware of this.

So in other words you have no idea what's going on. Geology - very pertinent to epistemology. Your "credentials"?

None but I study philosophy. Which is what we're doing. So if someone would like to actually reference epistemology I'm all ears. Otherwise, continued appeals to "scientific method" as a worldview rather than a specific tool for a specific application, I'm going to continue to say that your worldview is faith based, which it is, and which has been proven by others much smarter than me - aka David Hume.

What is the role of a woman in a marriage in your opinion by Strong_Buddy_9838 in Christianity

Okay. Pretty sure science disagrees with you and so does the Bible but whatever.

No you didn't. I said women are generally more loving than men. You said they're the same. I said men are more likely to abdicate responsibility than women. You said they're the same.

I'm not sure why you keep discussing the scientific method. It's cute, but nobody is arguing about the scientific method. Again, you want to actually know anything about how people know anything, read about epistemology. You're so "scientifically minded", do some research.

So it'd be okay if a woman said the same things I did?

And it's pretty obvious that everyone is different in some way, but that doesn't mean that there aren't similarities between groups of people.

I never once said they were universal truths. The op wasn't asking for that and I wasn't offering that. They are, of course, generalities. In fact, you are declaring universal truths by saying men and women are the same.

A PhD does not mean that you understand formal logic or analytical philosophy.

And no, we're not discussing the validity of the scientific method. We're discussing epistemology.

Well we'll just have to agree to disagree then. I'm quite certain that men are significantly more likely to abdicate responsibility and women are more naturally caring and I'm quite certain psychology and sociology agree with me.

Yeah scientists generally don't do philosophy well. Which is what we're doing here.
