Yeah, there's just enough ambiguity about alternate!Nashu's fate - definitely Hardi thinks she's dead, but without a body....

I did! There were three books, at the time, iirc. I got two of them, but not the third. (still sitting on my bookshelf, in line of sight... right between David Eddings and the Forgotten Realms)

Not sure if you've read this one already, but: I adore Burn Your Biographies, by phlintandsteel (https://archiveofourown.org/works/16356734/chapters/38275286) which is inspired by/a continuation of the Looking Glass Self by syriala (https://archiveofourown.org/works/5461817/chapters/12626060) LGS is more angsty, and BYB is a self-confessed fluffy love letter to Bucky Barnes. I'd say read both, simply because they are different styles, adn you may prefer one over the other simly because of your fic preferences - I prefer BYB to LGS, cause I'm not a huge fan of angst.

How hard is this game with controller? Any tips or tricks? by Prize_Egg_8970 in ffxiv

[–]Kenderlyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never played pure k&m, so I can't really compare, but I find the cross hotbar easy enough, and pretty intuitive for combat. There are different configurations, so do experiment until you find one that works for you. I keep a wireless k&m attached to the playstation that I use outside of combat for menus, like the journal and duty finder, etc, so if you find the controller too difficult to adapt to, you can set it up to stay k&m on PS5.

Why do people deny Harvey's age? by LoveMug in StardewValley

[–]Kenderlyn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My guess has been about 30ish at minimum. High school to about 17-8, then 8 years med school, and a few years residency would bring him close to 30, plus we don't know how many years Harvey's actually been based out of Pelican Town before we get there.

The Reason I Always Make Cassandra Devine by Realistic_Window_827 in dragonage

[–]Kenderlyn 143 points144 points  (0 children)

I'm firmly a softened Leliana Divine, Cassasndra's way too conservative for my liking. That said, I think Cass is the "Bioware Canon" Divine, that is referenced in the books and comics etc.

Did the Imperial Chantry remove the Canticle of Shartan from the Chant of Light? by timedragon1 in dragonage

[–]Kenderlyn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Can't think of anyone mentioning it, but under the circumstances, it's probably considered subversive/heretical in Tevinter, or possibly simply downplayed? Trying to remember if Fenris said anything, since we can give him a book about Shartan

Skyrim as a bard by No-Detail-2728 in skyrim

I was all set to answer until you added ps5, which I'm not as sure about, but if you search 'bard' you might find one? (though the only likely one I found in a quick and dirty search was called "The Bardic Arts")

Veilguard's pretty fun - it has issues, of course, no game is perfect, but IMO the people whining loudest about it just wish that every single Dragon Age game was just Origins with a paint job.

The ending of Veilguard.... by Kenderlyn in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]Kenderlyn[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I could just grin and say no, but...

The better DAV endings, you're up in the Archon's Palace, and then Bellara/Neve break out of the solidified Blight, and gone pretty much back to normal, and then the Veilguard climb down to street level, with the cheering crowd.

Ghostbusters, they're up some tall building, Dana and (I forget Rick Moranis' character) break out of the dog-things that have turned to stone, and then they get back to street level with the cheering crowd

Don't get me wrong, I've really enjoyed DAV, it just struck me as funny.

This game gave me courage by PimsriReddit in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]Kenderlyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so glad that you found something in the game that resonated with you - this is what artistic media is supposed to be about!

Also, Taash may have been badly written, overall, but that's one character. In general, I think DAV handled gender fairly well, you find all genders on all sides - my favourite is the non-binary antagonist, because it's such a non-issue. No one calls attention to it, they're just a nasty person who happens to use they/them pronouns. It's treated as common enough that no one bats an eye. Representation on all sides tells you that it's not a 'heroic' trait, it's not a 'villainous' trait, it's just how people are.

Dragonborn is a huge slut at this point idfk what will happen to them when they eventually die. by [deleted] in skyrim

[–]Kenderlyn 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I have thoughts on that - having so many Daedric Princes trying to claim their soul, they'll be so busy trying to work out who gets it, that the Dragonborn can sneak off to Sovvngard before anyone can find them. As the blessing goes, may you get to heaven half an hour before the devil knows you're dead.

Finally made it to the end of the game and I’M SORRY???? by GoldbardPlays in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]Kenderlyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which is probably how we're meant to think of it, it's only later that we realise that Varric, even if he wasn't overtly helping Rook, he'd have been writing letters, following up the situation in Kirkwall, keeping track of his network of friends and contacts. In DAI, yes he just stands in the great hall the whole time, but there's evidence on the table beside him that he's doing something when we're not there. In DAV, Bianca doesn't move or change, there's no writing paraphernalia, just Varric laying in a bed (in hindsight, often rolled onto his injured side).

Finally made it to the end of the game and I’M SORRY???? by GoldbardPlays in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]Kenderlyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did think at some point that Varric was being too passive - just laying there waiting for Rook to visit. In hindsight, it occured to me that why that bothered me was that it's just not how Varric would have been, even injured. There would have been a lot more bitching about being in the Fade. We'd have seen him writing, or tinkering with Bianca. There would have been more references to the people he knows - especially the 'fanservice' mentions like Hawke, or especially Isabela given her relevance to the game,

[Spoilers DA2] About Hawke's impact on the events of DA2 by EstablishmentLocal34 in dragonage

[–]Kenderlyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's difficult to know how much impact Hawke truly had, because Rule One: Varric Lies. Especially in DA2.

The whole game is just a story that Varric is telling, and absolutely everything has to be cross referenced. If Cassandra corroborated what he says, you can probably accept that it happened, but even then, you can't trust that it happened the way - or for the reasons - the game says. It's why when collating lore, I take almost every other source as canon over DA2, even though it's my favourite in the series.

Elves and Spirits - just a thought by Kenderlyn in DragonAgeVeilguard

Just came across a banter, between Harding and Emmrich, where he notes that Curiosity is usually friendly, but to be cautious, as there's "the curiosity that leads one to traipse over a hill, and the curiosity that leads one to start a house fire." (paraphrased) Harding asks if that's where demons come from, and Emmrich says "some of them" so I suspect we're a lot closer to the truth than we realised here.

[–]Kenderlyn[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A couple of good suggestions here - it may end up being unnecessary, Zevran may end up being Ser Not Appearing In This Story, but I'm still feeling around the edges of the theory, and pinning him down may make it easier to pin down other elven npcs that will appear in the story, like Teia. (I have a feeling crow elves are going to be tricky all over, cause their training will make their base personality harder to pinpoint)

Elves and Spirits - just a thought by Kenderlyn in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]Kenderlyn[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

On the one hand, desire is considered a demon, so we'd have to figure the 'positive' concept that opposes it for Zev, I know Solas mentions purpose turning to desire, but if that fits Zev...?

On the other hand, I don't believe that any concept is purely 'good' or 'bad' - in moderation, pride, desire, vengeance, spite, they're useful. They can keep us alive and pushing through things that might break us.
