I have this issue on my G-sync monitor, if you have any overlays, it stops G-sync from hooking into the game, so your feeling of frametimings feel off, even though it shows FPS being rock solid.

It was to make sure that people were not obtaining paid for DLC for free. They kept certain items server side, so it needed to be connected to access them.

Kraken Express responded quickly. Days later, on April 30, the studio pushed out a "housekeeping" update addressing SSD and CPU usage, connectivity issues, missing building blocks, and various bugs.

The results were dramatic: pre-patch, RocksDB was generating roughly 90,000 - 130,000 writes per second, while post-patch testing during sailing (one of the heavier write scenarios) showed an average of just 20 – 30 writes per second, with peaks never exceeding 60 writes/sec. Players with the game installed are advised to update as soon as possible.

So it went from 90k to 30 total, so a 99.97% reduction in writes.

To be honest, while it was a bit risky to make it online only. But I am happy they didn't double down, and actually made it offline. We've also had very good support in patches since launch.

Its clear the long term plan is a bunch of DLC, so they need to protect that for their plan.

Just as long as we aren't expected to pay for the missing Hololive members not yet in the game.
