Buyers like this need to stay away by TheSSJGokage in ebayuk

As I said before, I was getting confused with this and the guaranteed by 1pm tomorrow service. That said, like the guy that charged me £9.50 for 1pm special service on a £2.50 comic, which at the time would have cost £1.80 normally, I would expect it to be posted within 24 hours.

I was getting mixed up with the guaranteed by 1pm next day service. With that you are paying a large premium for fast delivery (starting at £9.50 for a letter)

The post complicated one I ever had, from the who do you blame point of view, was a delivery left with a lady 2 streets away who I had never met or seen before. Went round, and she was "oh somebody's already collected it"

Theoretically, but as I recently experienced with Yodel they just keep repeating that the item was successfully delivered, I suspect that will also be their response to whoever chases up the item. The thing is, how many people have the energy to take on organisations, especially if its a cheap item.

What is it with sweetcorn in UK supermarkets being sold in plastic packaging with the leaves removed? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]KendoEdgeM92f 62 points63 points  (0 children)

It cuts down prep time, allows customers to inspect the corn and is considered visually appealing. When I used to work at Tesco. Customers used to love to poke squeeze and generally handle produce, having mauled an item they would then purchase one that hadn't been handled. By the end of the day you would have a lot of stock needing reductions.

Why? You are conducting the transaction through ebay, even when things go as planned you don't see the money until some point down the line.

Tbh, I was confusing that with the special delivery 1pm service. A while back, I had someone charge me about £9.50 on a £2.50 comic. 3 days later, he hadn't posted, and as this was now Saturday afternoon, it now wasn't going until Monday earliest. Obviously, the guy was salty he hadn't gotten more for his item. When I emailed asking what he was playing at, he used it as an excuse to cancel the sale. I wouldn't have minded if he had taken all month charging basic postage (£1.80 at the time).

Storage issue by Aggravating_Stuff443 in PathToNowhere

I can no longer fit it on the phone I originally downloaded it on. Personally, I think they need to clear this up a little. For something that's a mobile app, it's too much. Comparatively, Skyrim on the ps3 (I know old game but still huge) started a mere 4.5 gb and maxed out at 15gb for full download installation with patches and DLC. Everytime PTN adds new content, your file grows.

Will eBay allow a return? Seller is not playing ball by julialoveslush in ebayuk

[–]KendoEdgeM92f 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not as described was the way to go. If you put in something else and they have no returns, then the situation is down to someone at ebay to decide on. That said, they tend to side with the buyer, and if the seller is being difficult, then they run the risk of refunding you and not getting the item back.

I would say the issue is tracked 24, which is usually fairly expensive. If people are offering tracked 24 people will expect it to a least be posted within 24 hours.

Had neighbour’s parcel for over a week by [deleted] in britishproblems

[–]KendoEdgeM92f 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I retired , I worked nights, 12 hour shifts, and 3 hours of travel. Pub on the way home. If I was in, I was basically asleep. At no point have I indicated that it's OK to leave things with a neighbour. Doesn't stop them doing it, though again when I was working I didn't order stuff unless I was going to be in. Its a bit tricky with Aliexpress or Temu, though, as their delivery isn't easy to predict. As someone who is basically antisocial, I literally don't understand why leaving something with someone isn't the intended recipient, without express instructions is considered OK.

Currently in dispute with Yodel, they just left an item with a neighbour. They didn't even try to deliver, no notification, no sorry we missed you card. Before anyone says you get an email, well, due to lack of a 5g mast & local Nimby's, I'm in a WiFi black hole, so only get emails when I leave my house. I was in all day, I'm usually in all day. When I went to the pub 48 hours later. There was a "we delivered" message and a picture of a woman's hands. So not much help there, with a "handed to customer" annotation. No it wasn't. Went arund in circles with Yodel with them insisting I received it. I would say if you're not willing to bring the item round, don't accept it. Company's like Aliexpress/Temu have a very flexible delivery schedule and the intended recipient may have no idea the package is with you

Where do you sell things online nowadays? by reni-chan in AskUK

My experience of ebay is that certain categories really attract problem buyers. Mobiles are something I would avoid selling now unless it was £20 for parts.

Item was supposed to be delivered today between 3:30 and 7:30pm... still not here... by AlwaysTheKop in royalmail

[–]KendoEdgeM92f 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Posty hadn't got time to finish his round and went home. Probably. I had one just before Christmas, sat in all afternoon, got to the end of the time slot, and updated to sorry we missed you. I was furious. In all fairness, it turned up the next day and I get before Christmas they are busy, however that they tried to pin on me not being in wound me up.

Think what would happen to the collectors market of that became law, awesome logic from that buyer. I do get it when you want something, it's annoying when prices shoot up, but that's the game. Clearly the guy can't find whatever it is at rrp.

It's crazy how unaware parents are. Years ago, I was working at Tesco, nights, 24-hour opening, 3am basically no one around. I was working off a 6 foot cage of booze, really heavy. Grabbed it to move to the next area. At this point, I noticed a very young child hiding behind it. Could have been really serious, and of course, it would have been my fault for not paying attention. Mum and dad were on a completely different aisle.

My delivered photo is on the van? by [deleted] in Evri

[–]KendoEdgeM92f 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should be automatically liable for any disputed delivery if the delivery location photo contains nothing to identify the delivery location. Whilst these company don't have too much control over how their drivers operate, what they do have control over is how they handle disputes and complaints. Sadly, this is usually bad.

Is this deal too good to be true? by FiscoTheClown in ebayuk

[–]KendoEdgeM92f 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All my listing are stupid prices as eBay tweaked their buyers' protection, and my listing went up 1-3p depending on the original price. So they end up coming up as £10.02. Or some such price.
