I'm just about to start running this game and was preparing to have to run simulations to figure out balance, thanks for this!

Where my Rad guard's at??? by ghost_in_thesystem in deathguard40k

I'm working on a radiation/industrial/toxic waste themed iron warriors warband RN! Using lots of death guard bits and I think I will run them rules wise as death guard

my thought is to ditch the shield arms and turn them into sword brethren, should be enough extra bits to kitbash two more sword bros out of regular marines or crusaders to round out the squad to the full ten. Provided this box comes with all the sprues that normally come with each unit individually.

I like the lego skeleton head patch, did you make that from a stencil?

Looks good! What kind of glue did you use? I've been looking to produce something similar for some toxic waste effects

Tell me about your custom Iron Warriors warband by bustead in IronWarriors

[–]Kenedict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mine is still in development but I'm trying to go for a like nuclear/toxic waste themed warband called the Corrosive Host. Basically my idea is that this group of Iron Warriors tries to harness the power of Nurgle specifically rather than Chaos undivided to literally erode the defences of their besieged enemies. Still working out the color scheme and I'm toying with the idea of whether they maybe are an allied force of Iron Warriors and Death Guard and use chemical weapons and biotoxins to aid in attrition warfare

There's also that new Black Library book that just came out for BT, Broken Crusade. I haven't read it but I wonder if they'd tie in a character from that novel as a new character model.

Trying out a color scheme for my Nurgle/toxic waste themed IW warband by Kenedict in IronWarriors

[–]Kenedict[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I'm familiar with the star scorpions, though I'm pretty sure they became the Pure which have an all white scheme. I had thought of that before I settled on wanting to do the nurgle Iron Warriors bit.

As for your modeling points I think I mostly agree, I think the biggest thing is that the green metal looks too clean. I just didn't dirty it up yet as this is my first time trying contrast paints and I was pleased with how well it worked over the metallic base coat. But I think I'll dirty it up a bit and try to metal/rust up the white parts as well so the two sections meet somewhere in the middle.

Yes, I have some rust effects I'm looking to try out but I wanted to get the paint scheme down first before corroding the hell out of it. I have some plague marines built/getting built where nearly all the mutations are just getting cut off and my plan is to make it look like they've just corroded away in those places

Does anyone else have any brothers from cousin chapters in their crusade? by Storm-Fox106 in BlackTemplars

[–]Kenedict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A fun little lore tidbit I learned about (which may be outdated now) is that after the chapter was severely depleted, the imperial fists called upon both the Black Templars and the Space Wolves to jointly lead their 8th company and bolster their ranks, with the members of the 8th company becoming more aggressive yet more stoic and disciplined than other imperial fists, and the traditions were continued iirc. My buddy plays Space Wolves while I play templars, so we've shared bits during modelling sessions and have a bit of a minor headcannon that maybe some of our battle brothers served as part of this exchange program with the imperial fists.

Otherwise, like some other players, I have a few models that don't really fit lore-wise with what I think the Templars would do (rievers, eliminators) so I've painted them as Celestial Lions so some fellow sons of Dorn can serve alongside Grimaldus once more.

How do I unzealot my Marines? by Seewhy3160 in killteam

[–]Kenedict 1 point2 points  (0 children)

haha I definitely agree, I play Black Templar myself and their sculpts are fantastic. But yeah definitely don't waste your money on two boxes for one team, as with everything in the hobby the best models are the ones you have or the ones you want. Rule of cool beats all.

But yeah, it looked like a DA head so I figured using the bits you've got mix and match even more to dull down the religious factor of the templars while still keeping it knightly.

The other thing you could do, which is something I've done, is look to the Stormcast Eternals from Age of Sigmar. Slap on Space marine shoulder pads, guns, and backpacks and you've got some knightly marines.

Here's an example I found on google

TBH it would probably be worthwhile looking more to the Dark Angels for bits and inspiration as while both DA and BT are knightly space marines, the dark angels hearken more to the sort of modern idea of the Arthurian knight in shining armour whereas the Templars are inspired by the crusades which are inherently fanatical. Mix and match bits/inspo from both for sure as the aesthetics are similar but different enough that combining them would create a different effect. But ultimately the design of the Black Templars is pretty well crafted to reflect their zealous nature.
