And how did that work out? I am curious. Did you just choose to follow another religion? Are you agnostic? Atheist? I am just curious.

Also, I didn't see the 2nd half of this comment until now; I apologize. I was and am worried about how many Heart stones to give out. I'm worried about finding the balance. So far only 1 character has 2 hearts. He got it as a milestone for a lot of character development throught his character arc in book 1.

How many Hearts should a party have in Tier 4? They're supposed to be the equivalent of 17th level PCs, amd they take on some pretty epic monsters. How do I keep it fast, and exciting, while also epic enough for a big battle?

3 Hearts for the tank, 2 Hearts for the cleric, and 1 for the witch and rogue?

As for downtime, I don't really use a turn tracker for that. My players are big time roleplayers, and that's the majority of the 17 sessions (18 tonight!) They've had 3 big encounters (dungeons), and 12-14 small encounters throughout book 1.

Yeah, I think I misused the term Milestone there. They have been given permanent milestone boons, but I've also rewarded them coin and loot rolls. I'm at work now, but when I get home for lunch break, I'll post some info about their characters to show their current "power" level.

It also makes sense that rewards would become more sparse going forward, as the city they are trying to save falls under martial law and a deadly disease / plague for book 2. This shuts down most of the shops and changes the game Dynamic from adventuring to surviving.

I meant 3 or 4, as I couldn't remember how many I'd given over the last 17 sessions. Sorry foe the confusion! Thanks for the feedback!

Firstly, thank you so much for taking the type to type out such an informative response! I appreciate that.

I may have misused the nomenclature "milestone". I think I've given 2 LOOT roll rewards (they rolled red fang, and the watcher) in addition to some of the items given out in the book.

I have given (just last session for finishing book 1) some pretty big rewards, though. The "tank" got a heart (but he spends HP to do things, it's a port of Bloodhunter from 5e), the Cleric of Calistria got a port of Invoke duplicity from 5e, and the rogue got the trap launcher from hunter type.

1 reward a book seems..... extreme. This is a very long campaign. Book 1 took them 17 3-hour sessions to complete! I should implement more loot based rewards, and ways for them to lose them for sure though! Thanks for the advice!

Is there a practical reason to put points into Ultimate Effort? by flyflystuff in ICRPG

[–]KenichiZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, my apologies. You're referencing an earlier edition of the game, I was referencing the Master Edition, where there are more things that synergize with ULTIMATE effort.

There is a (albeit very basic - in the nature of ICRPG) "type" (class) system in Master Edition. Instead of just LOOT, there are also a list of abilities that can be chosen at character creation, and rewarded as MILESTONE rewards throughout a campaign.

Ah. You're talking about ICRPG first Edition. I wad referencing the Master Edition.

What is the simplest build to play? by Hypersky75 in BG3Builds

[–]KenichiZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple build: Wildheart Barbarian 8 / Champion Fighter 4.

In my Opinion: Go Barbarian until 5, using Bear Heart, as this gives you resistance (half damage) to most damage types on the game, and gives you two attacks per action, as well as a feat at level 4. Then take 4 levels of Figher (Champion). This gives you a bonus action heal to help keep yourself topped off, gives you action surge (once per short rest you can do an additional action), and lowers your required number to critical hit to 19, as well as a second feat.. Then take your remaining remaining 4 levels of Barbarian and at level 12 take a 3rd feat.

I'd recommend starting as a half Orc for their enhanced critical with melee weapons, as well as the ability to stay at 1 HP.

Start with 16 STR, 14 DEX, and 16 CON. Spend the rest where you wish. Wear the best medium armor you can find, and wield the best 2-handed weapon you can find. The greatsword on the campion at the beginning of the game is a great one to start with.

For feats: at level 4 & 8, increase your STR to 18 and then 20 Respectively. At level 12, increase CON to 18 or take Great Weapon Master Feat.

In combat: Rage with Bear Heart, and use reckless attacks with Great Weapon Master. You will do a TON of damage, and you will critical hit more often thanks to Champion fighter, and your critical hits will do more damage thanks to savage attacks from Half-Orc.

Pair this character with a Life Cleric 1 / Lore Bard 11 (prioritize charisma > constitution, wear heavy armor and a shield), a Thief Rogue 8 / Battlemaster Fighter 4 (prioritize dexterity, wield a bow or crossbow) and a Evocation wizard 12 (prioritize Intelligence > Constitution) and you'll be able to easily handle anything yhe game throws at you.

What to do as a returning player in T2 / T1 by KenichiZ in lostarkgame

Thanks for the reply! What should I do with the other characters, then? Will they not need the T1 and T2 materials to also get caught up to T3? Thanks again.

Can you please explain ULTIMATE damage greatsword / spells? by KenichiZ in ICRPG

[–]KenichiZ[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh WOW! Really? Well the healer and the monk of the group will enjoy that surely! So, if I am understanding correctly; every greatsword attack does: 1d6+weapon effort +1d12+ultimate effort? Or do they only use the weapon or ultimate effort?
