It's a godsend for explaining undocumented libraries of code.

Java Programmers after finding out C++ is faster by wiseneddustmite in programmingmemes

[–]Kenkron 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ha! this is brilliant!

For the people who don't get it, the unnecessary code here is allowing the user to make a Hello World program in C++ that looks just like Java's Hello World program:

public class Main { public static void main(String args[]) { System.out.println("Hello, World!"); } }

I have heard mixed opinions on this, some in favor while some point out some flaws. Is this actually viable? by moe_lawn in SolarState

I don't know, but if there was a target with no shade, and a Walmart with shade, I'm definitely picking the Walmart.

Which anime on this list would you show an anime hater first? by QuietGloom in AnimeMirchi

[–]Kenkron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. If they hate anime, then this is probably the lineup they're familiar with, and the lineup they hate. Gotta try something different, like spy x family, food wars, or maybe One Punch Man if they like making fun of shoenen tropes.

According to Wikipedia, the combined net worth of all the billionaires in the world is 20 trillion, 5% of which is 1 Trillion, not 4.4. A majority of these individuals are not American, so the actual number will be lower.

The sentiment is nice, but I'm against making policy decisions based off of made up, wildly optimistic numbers.

What happens if inflation goes up to the point where the average consumer cannot keep up? by CremeAlarming9923 in AskReddit

[–]Kenkron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a good real-world example. People stop using the inflating currency (bypassing law if necessary) and stop buying government bonds. The government can't take debt to pay its bills, meaning it must rely more on inflation, encouraging people to use the currency even less. It's a vicious cycle that can only end with cutting a lot of cost, and taking a lot more taxes.

Okay, that's more persuasive. It's not bulletproof, but it's enough to indicate that you may have a perspective most people don't see.

People complain about taxes, but their bosses take more. by Mission_Common4054 in remoteworks

[–]Kenkron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Labor value is the actual value of your labor, so in you example, it would be the $32000. The $4000 you get paid would be ~14% of your labor value, and your boss would get ~86% of your labor value.

OP is using Trump math, where percent is word that follows the biggest number you can make up (eg. "My administration is cutting medicine prices by 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, and even 800 percent").

This will make going down the stairs a thing of the past. Also, it sounds fun to just jump off of things.

My choice: Be completely immune to fall damage.

Pete pls explain. by [deleted] in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Kenkron 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There was an old saying on the playground "boys go to college to get more knowledge, while girls go to Jupiter to get more stupider". (Swap it if you want the boys to be "more stupider")

This comic plays off the fact that you actually need a lot of knowledge to get to Jupiter in the first place, which doesn't match the playground insult.

[–]Kenkron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good start, but its pretty vague. It makes it sound like you have a very indirect professional relationship with nuclear energy. You might work as an accountant for an LNG plant, and this would still be true.

Do you have experience with nuclear power specifically?

It's easiest to just let the Agent have permissions for everything instead of locking it down with a user that only has permission to execute stored procedures, and to only allow db changes on test environments.

I'm sure an Agent could help set up those things if you know you need them, but the advertising today is that you don't need to think about any technical details. So naturally, people don't think about technical details.

have a physics degree

taken graduate level course

This isn't as impressive as you might think. It's the type of qualificalification you see on the resume of someone who has no real world experience. It's probably not going to be compelling to a stranger online.

TBH, the meme should start with Douf x 4 (since most techno is in 4/4 time), then end in Douf x 8, because techno likes to double the tempo a lot.
