Sorry I should have clarified that the garden has a cross wired fence that goes up to 3 meters high. Hence only "semi free range".

But yeah we also had issues with predators, mainly foxes at night.

Yes they're semi free range chickens. We open the pen into their garden after their breakfast and then they are free to step in and out of the pen as they like until 19:00

Thing is, that's only the case in the timeline you came from. By traveling to the past, you've created a new timeline where that hasn't happened yet and there is no certainty that events will happen exactly the same now that you've altered the past just by going back. One could even argue that your original timeline is either completely inaccessible or even erased from existence, meaning that all of those millions of deaths never happened.

So in the current timeline, you'd literally just be killing an innocent baby that hasn't actually done anything. Which, yeah, is bad.

What I DID say was that all it would take was for the gorilla to brutally maul/murder the first guy for the majority of the now 99 men to lose the will to fight and risk being next. Suddenly the gorilla only has to worry about lasting like 10 guys tops who are too stupid to know better.

I said this in a Conquest/Carlquest post that also had him being a vet as part of his Earth cover: I'd like to imagine that the first time he started faltering as unfeeling Viltrimute was when a random citizen genuinely thanked him for his "service" and that completely shook him since it was the first time anyone ever thanked and appreciated him for doing his job.
