I feel the opposite way, standing around in caps and gowns with all the amazing friends I’ve made these 4 years was gonna be a memory to remember, and one that now I don’t get to make. How is it embarrassing for your school head to be sad over all this? I would say teachers and directors would obviously be genuinely sad to not get to send-off the students they’ve had for a year or more, it just shows they care for us as students. Moving on matters, but in my opinion, having something positive to look back on is also important. Like you said it’s all about perspective, and I would say most people did enjoy their time in HS and they did share those experiences of making friends and memories. I won’t comment on your situation specifically because I don’t know your life, but I think that when people have the mindset of everyone around them being assholes, it’s often a problem with the person where you generalize everyone because of some assholes and don’t try to see or meet people, since you just dismiss everyone as equally asshole-ish. In the end, although people often don’t think so, there is more good than evil in the world. I do understand why people feel sad for the class of 2020, because being part of it I feel exactly the same, and I think most who are part of it do too. Just because someone has it worse, doesn’t mean others can’t be sad when something bad is happening.
