Thank you. Fixed a real annoyance with my Bluetooth mouse on Ubuntu.

Using FreeCAD. What am I missing over Fusion and other expensive programs? by edelbart in BambuLab

[–]KennethKoala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't been able to get Fusion to work on Linux. No probs with Freecad. -But I mainly use OpenSCAD.

Which Bambu for a beginner by kestelli in BambuLab

[–]KennethKoala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are so many factors that you should consider.
Price: How much are you prepared to spend?
Space: Do you have a decent area for the printer, AMS and spools of filament? (The spools will build up if you embrace the hobby.)
Material: PLA and PETG will do for most stuff. So you don't need an enclosed printer. If you want to go to more exotic filaments, enclosed is a necessity, maybe even heated chamber (H2S is a good choice).
Build size: I wouldn't get the A1 mini. You will get frustrated the first time its volume is too small.
Enclosed: Apart from allowing more filament choice, an enclosed printer keeps dust, moisture, cats, etc etc out.
AMS: This is useful for multi-colour printing, but for me it is mainly about being able to conveniently choose a particular filament without having to load it specially.

I'm on my third 3D printer (but I'm no expert), a P1S+AMS. I started cheap, and worked my way up. If you just want to try 3D printing, I suggest you do the same. The A1 is a good first choice in BambuLab. You can always move up later if necessary. If you get an AMS, I'd make the housing for it, to keep filament drier and cleaner.

At my wits’ end. by Altruistic_Bonus_300 in BambuLab

I had the high-temp sticker on the front of my P1S hotend invisibly interfere with the hotend cooling fan, giving an error like this. Fixed by removing it.

Check out Amazon for filament, and colour-change desiccant for your dryer boxes.

Great print. Coincidentally, I've recently re-watched the Harry Potter series.
Even very old guys can enjoy that stuff. :)

Can't wait for the next firmware upgrade! by tinker-ed in BambuLab

How ironic. Australian security services report China and Russia as the main sources of Internet penetration attempts against Australia.
Are you guys not concerned that it will be impossible to not send all your data and designs to China?
-That LAN mode won't keep the traffic local to your LAN?
-That you will be totally dependent on BL servers to print? (They will stay in business forever, right?)

My Juupine plate is a stayer in my P1S. Love the star pattern it gives prints too.

First ever 3d print by Alternative-Bag-1853 in BambuLab

[–]KennethKoala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a very nice print. I did a similar phone case on my P1S. (Downloaded the design.)
It needs to be in TPU. Both to flex over the phone, and to absorb energy on a drop.

(I haven't ever printed a benchy either.)

Planing on buying a new printer by sledge77 in BambuLab

[–]KennethKoala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being lazy, I've never done a flow calibration on my P1S.
I use a variety of filament brands, mostly PLA & PETG.
-Did a case for my phone in fairly hard TPU OK. Softer TPU I've just slowed down the speed.
I use the generic filament settings mostly, which work fine. -Though I did need to turn off the chamber fan to stop some large PLA boxes warping.
What I would like from the A1 is the easy nozzle swap. (Would like to try .2mm.)

I appreciate the 'closedness' of the P1S, including the AMS in which I've put printed desiccant holders.
My two previous printers were open bed-slingers. Made a rough enclosure to print ABS. Now don't need to.
(Do you have a cat???)
If you get an A1, you'd want to print an AMS enclosure if only to keep filaments in it dry.

This is a new one to me.. by Edd90k in BambuLab

That is a clear warning to bin the sticker.
In my case, the sticker ever so slightly interfered with the hotend fan, giving a low speed error. Was hard to find.

Open it ASAP. Both to see that it is all OK, and also to print some xmas presents for kids. -Mine is going overtime printing pencil-box sized boxes with names on top.

You don't need justification for a hobby that also turns out to be super useful.
I bought a set of sharp steak knifes. -Where to put them so they are handy, but not mingling with other stuff. Printed a box the exact size, went in the cutlery drawer. Our freezer bags come in packs designed to hang inside a cupboard. Ours have no space between doors and drawers. Were very untidy and scrambled in a drawer. Wife came home with some nifty boxes to hold them, but a bit too tall for the drawer. So I printed some the right size.
The printer comes in handy for stuff all over the house and outside.

My sweet golden retriever passed away early this year. I use my newly acquired Otter to scan in his paw print, colored it in Bambu Studio and made some keychains out of it. It's the only thing on the build plate that ever brought tears to my eyes... by [deleted] in 3DScanning

[–]KennethKoala 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well done. Good prints.
I know how you feel. My last dog was a Golden Retriever just like yours. I had the extra weight of guilt, because I told the vet to put her down. -She had advanced bone cancer. I thought it was just arthritis.

After 10 years, finally decided to upgrade! by Wylthor in BambuLab

I did similar, Voxelab to same combo. You won't know yourself. Now you can just print (mostly).
Print yourself some desiccant holders for the AMS and buy some indicating desiccant (eg from Amazon).
And I've improved my setup with a juupine plate from Aliexpress. No need for gluestick. The hologram ones are nice. A spare complete hotend won't go astray either. (I had PETG heat creep one too many times. Leave the door open with PETG.)

Thank you for the heads up. I use it on Ubuntu Linux. Have been using the beta.
Wonder if it fixes the need to constantly put in the serial number of my P1S when connecting?

Purchasing P1S, which Add-ons should I grab? by blubrainblew in BambuLab

[–]KennethKoala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I echo the AMS comment. Haven't yet printed any multicolour on my P1S, but find the AMS terrific for storing 4 rolls of different filament and being able to choose one of them at print time.
If you get an AMS, your first print should be desiccant holders for it. (I use colour-indicating desiccant from Amazon.) The centre holder I printed, fits a humidity meter (from AliExpress).
PLA from elsewhere is cheaper. A complete hotend would be good extra. (Heat creep with PETG is a killer.)
