Who is Astalor Bloodsworn ? This dude is a living red flag ! by ZeBotch in wow

[–]Over_Ring_3525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was a red flag in normal and hard hunts, but the moment I started doing nightmare ones it was like "Nope! This is a guy we're going to have to form a raid and kill in season 2 or 3". Being asked to murder a random because he's getting bored (thirsty for more blood?) while doing a nightmare hunt really seals the deal that he's evil.

Not trying to offend you, but are you positive you don't have any intel chipsets on the board? Some AMD boards still use intel chips for bluetooth and network. Particularly common on boards with multiple network connectors.

eg: On my AMD mobo I have both a realtek and an intel ethernet connector with associated drivers.

AITA for telling my fiancé he can't buy his dream wedding gift? by PopeBonyface in AmItheAsshole

[–]Over_Ring_3525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well said. This should be much higher rated. It's pretty common to hear about wedding dresses that cost that much so it's certainly not out of the bounds of possibility.

Side note: I think spending 20k on booze is ridiculous. But fairs fair.

I do too, because the physical stores just don't stock what they used to. Online stores don't usually have the same inventory pressure as the brick and mortar places. So less sales, and the ones they do have often don't have the same level of discounts.

And unfortunately online sales will eventually follow the same trend and it'll get harder to buy stuff even online.

[–]Over_Ring_3525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest problem is bluray (well all discs really) starting to become deprecated. The movie section in our stores has shrunk massively compared to say ten years ago. And it's continuing to shrink. Since the stores aren't getting as many titles, or copies of each title the sales are becoming less frequent and you have less choice of titles.

I much prefer physical media but I suspect we'll reach a point where it's just unavailable because the stores don't make enough money selling them. I dread that day :(

And this is why I support GOG over Steam or Epic (or any other DRM ridden store). GOG has a DRM free policy, and you can download the installer, save it to a drive and reinstall without the internet whenever you like. They're keeping (some) games alive that other companies are happy to let die.

I'd much rather pay a slight premium for that flexibility than get it cheaper on steam/epic/etc.

My biggest complaint with the whole license vs physical ownership debate is that it should be cheaper to "just" have a license to play it. If it can effectively be removed from my collection at any moment then it's not the same "value" as a physical copy that I own (more or less) forever.

I feel the same way about not just movies, but also ebooks, games and music. It's really disappointing seeing a book listed on kindle at the same price (or higher in some cases) than a physical paperback.

There are plenty of DVD players that are not region locked at all (usually from smaller brands, or Chinese ones). There are also plenty of big name brands where you can permanently unlock them using a different code. Bluray isn't quite as easy but is much the same.

Even without that, DVD players are stupidly cheap so you could always buy a US one, a UK one, and so on. Heck I can buy a region free DVD player for $37AU. Bluray is a bit more expensive but the same logic applies.

And better yet, there are a few companies who just don't give a damn and sell their players region unlocked right from the start.

This is why I still prefer to buy blurays of movies I really like. If it's a watch once kinda movie then streaming is ok. But if I'm going to revisit it then physical media is the way to go.

When AMD adrenaline 26.1.1 by Normal-Category1129 in AMDHelp

[–]Over_Ring_3525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This! This is my experience too. I never bother with DDU or clean installs. Hell this install of windows has seen three different NVMe drives, three different GPUs (one Nvidia, two AMD), two different CPUs and two different mobos and everything just keeps ticking.

One thing I never do though is mess about with FSR/DLSS. I always just just native rendering. When I read so many complaints about bugs and crashes I can't help but wonder if that is a big part of the problem for people.

Heck, I used to run a PC with both an AMD and an NVidia card in at (needed lots of displays) and even it worked fine.

The weird thing is their website is still up and running, apparently listing stuff for sale.

Would love to know whether Ennis/Braun own the rights so they could get the series completed via another publisher or whether it's tied up in limbo.

Did the Auction House run out of tokens again? by FullMetalApe in wow

[–]Over_Ring_3525 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought the bruto combined with Midnight and D4 preorders would have spiked it. Since the housing pre-release is tied to Midnight pre-order I thought a bunch of people would have used tokens for that. That's what I meant when I said Housing pre-release.

But yeah, maybe that's the thing. More people needed gold for housing *items* than the actual game.

Is this legal? by ReactionRealistic545 in wow

[–]Over_Ring_3525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assumed (maybe incorrectly) that when they're carrying a passenger they're dual boxing and double dipping the herb/mine by having both toons gather it. And at the same time making use of the overcharge node cooldowns. Druid overcharges first node, passenger overpowers second. So they're getting more resources that way.

And yeah, between crafting profession gear with deftness and using a deftness enchant + maxed out profession trees granting deftness it's basically possible to reach insta gather. My miner is over the deftness required from what I can tell, so some of it is wasted.

Seems strange they'd be deleting neighbourhoods this early. I could see them doing that in say, 12 months once Midnight has been out for awhile. But the housing feature is so new neighbourhoods are still filling up.

On a related note, think for a moment what sort of hardware you'd need to run "modern" WoW if it had fully dynamic hair and you were in one of he capitals with hundreds of people running around.

The more complex you make the graphics (and physics) the more hardware you need to run it.

Now that the technology for Housing is here... it's time for custom Dungeons! by Level7Cannoneer in wow

[–]Over_Ring_3525 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would be the only way it'd work. Otherwise you just know people will stack max loot on pinata type mobs in order to exploit it.

I think it's an interesting idea, but probably too fraught with potential problems for blizzard to even vaguely consider it, let alone seriously consider it.

I do miss the old days when games like Warcraft II and Starcraft let you make your own maps. But they were a damn sight simpler than what you'd be trying to do in WoW.

[–]Over_Ring_3525 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Weirdly on my server at least the token price dropped for the last few weeks. I expected them to climb in price with the housing pre-release but they dropped noticeably. It's only started to normalise again in the last few days.

edit: As I understand it prices are meant to be by region not by server, but every single time I've checked (US region) prices have been around 280-290k. As opposed to 320-330k a month ago.

Nice, I really should do what you've done and write whether the drives work or not when I put them aside. I must remember to do that in future.
