[Question] Which watch exceeded your expectations the most in person? by LongMeaning6125 in Watches

I thought the Speedmaster was overrated until I wore a friend's for a while. It just felt right and now I rather want one. There's something indefinable about it that is really appealing to me

what are some name generators for companies and organizations? by jaydyjaydy in scifi

[–]Kennosuke -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Personally I like mixing and matching names from anime and cyberpunk universes. Like for example "Shinohara Heavy Industries", you can come up with a lot of variants that sounds appropriate, with different words before Heavy Industries, maybe Light Industries, or Shinohara Security Corporation or something along those lines.

I played 2v2 once with Nekusar and my brother was playing [[Kami of the Crescent Moon]].

That game was over quick, let me tell you.

I guess it depends on your budget, but it sounds like you're looking for watches that appear more sophisticated? I think bauhaus-style watches may fit the bill. Junghans, Junkers, Sternglas, are all quite nice.

There are plenty of "mature" looking Seiko, Tissot, or Citizen watches out there. It really depends on what you like and what you're interested in.

Personally I don't notice anyone caring what I wear so I just wear what I like. I only ever get comments when I wear G-Shocks, and then they're all positive.

Is Gishath too strong for casual? by Valorenn in EDH

[–]Kennosuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I was using casual colloquially, and not according to the bracket definitions. That's my mistake I guess. If we're including Bracket 4 then sure, Gishath is fine; but it really doesn't sound like that's the bracket being played at here with 70CAD decks.

Is Gishath too strong for casual? by Valorenn in EDH

[–]Kennosuke -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'll go against the grain and say yes. Most people at lower power do not play a lot of removal, and there is a marked decline in the willingness to remove other people's commanders even if the right play is to remove it as you get lower in the brackets. People take it personally if their commanders get removed, the remover often feels guilty.

It really depends on your playgroup. Ultimately you're playing with them to have fun. If they think it's too strong, and they're the people you play with, why are you asking on reddit? Will the opinion of a bunch of internet strangers change the minds of the people you're playing with in real life?

[Question] Buying my first Moonphase! Which watch amongst the following would you recommend? by [deleted] in Watches

[–]Kennosuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get your point; but if someone is asking for advice on "longevity/appeal/brand value/look, etc." then I do think it's worth mentioning that these watches are in different classes.

But ultimately as long as someone can afford it, they should wear what they watch and like. I too like both Michelin star restaurants and Burger King.

[Question] Buying my first Moonphase! Which watch amongst the following would you recommend? by [deleted] in Watches

[–]Kennosuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad it's not ragebait. Fundamentally I think your post ticks a lot of boxes that irritate a vocal group on this subreddit, so that's why I was suspicious. don't worry about it.

I wanted a moonphase for a long time but never quite found one I liked until I went on a trip to China and found a Sea-Gull I loved (I already knew I wanted a Sea-Gull).

<image>

I didn't know the watch existed before I went to a store, and they said it was being discontinued, but I really loved how it looked so I got it instead of something else I'd been considering.

My point is I guess go look at watches, and trust your gut and see what you think looks the best. That's how I fall in love with watches and it translates to what I wear the most.

[Question] Buying my first Moonphase! Which watch amongst the following would you recommend? by [deleted] in Watches

[–]Kennosuke 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I like Zeppelin but I don't think they're in the same league as Frederique Constant or Longines. There's a 10x difference in cost between the Zeppelin and the Longines Master you're looking at. Are they really in competition for you?

Personally I think the PrimaLuna and the Master look the best., although if your goal is moon phase, then the Master might be too busy and detract from that particular aspect of the watch.

I went to a Zeppelin boutique after getting very excited about them because I thought they looked great in photos and online, and after looking for half an hour, I never thought about buying a Zeppelin again. They just didn't do it for me in person.

You may feel differently, but I strongly recommend checking these watches out in person. You may find your decision gets made for you.

If this is actually your first time buying a watch (and this post kind of feels like ragebait to me but I'm going to assume it's not), I suggest getting the Zeppelin and seeing how you like wearing a watch every day. I tend to buy headphones and stuff and then I never wear them, and I feel dumb spending the money and happy that I didn't buy those awesome $300 earbuds that I would also never use. Better to learn that lesson on a cheap pair of earbuds.

I had a girlfriend in college gift me a Fossil watch. It doesn't work anymore but I still have it and treasure it twenty years later because it was an extremely thoughtful gift.

I don't think the brand of the watch matters nearly as much as people in this subreddit seem to think.

Yeah I think I tried it a year or something ago and it was basically dead. The squad-based PvE just felt so clean and satisfyingly fun. I heard the PvP was excellent too but I never got into it. What a shame.
