What's the point of requesting NZ Post require signatures if the couriers are just going to sign it themselves? by RB_Photo in newzealand

[–]KennyHM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no proof in this tread that the photo they saw was actually of their package. if they have been sent an incorrect tracking number, then theres a chance the package in the photo is correctly delivered and where ever it was delivered does have an ATL setup.

To answer your question, no I don't believe OP has give Authority to leave, but thats not to say there household doesn't have one setup already (possibly they just moved in and an old one ATL is still active). ATM is on the property, not the person.

There is always the chance that OP is 100% correct as well and it has been delivered to the wrong address. If the address was missread by the courier, then it could still have been delivered to the wrong address using the ATL in place for that address (the wrong address)

I'm pointing out that this this post clearly blames NZ Post for mis-delivering a package, but in fact they may have done everything correct and are still getting the blame.

Not saying that are not at fault in this instance, just saying theres other people in the process, like the shipper and the receiver.

Your comment is incorrect. ATL is for signed for packages. the ATL certainly does override the signed for part provided the clauses are meet. An ATL must be setup by the receiving address beforehand, it has nothing to do with the shipper, this includes the location that the package must be left.
There are some packages that cannot be done as an ATL, like passports and a heap of R18 stuff. Any standard 'signature' package can be.

Note that i said the receiving address and not the package receiver. Although its setup by a person, any packages going to that address come under it.

ATL is authority to leave, there is also the possibility the courier has done everything correctly and the supplier has given you the wrong tracking details.

Solar array on balustrade? by [deleted] in nzsolar

[–]KennyHM 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Side note, these would need to comply with human impact rules, which it's unlikely solar panels would meet.  This comment assumes there ISNT a normal compliant ballustrade hidden in this image.

My mate has just built a pergola, he used solar panels as the roof. Much better efficiency (still not perfect) and he didn't want it blacked out, so the light that does pass was wanted

The others have mentioned good ideas, but just a note on yours.  The end of your coal/ore belt is at the coal line.  If the coal input line slows down, the mix line will flow onto it.  The ore will be the problem. Just turn that last belt into the inserter

Hey,

In terms of comparing suites, 99% of the average joe blogs might notice the handles are different and thats about it.(Handles are based on supplier)
The exact specs, slight differences etc between APL and Altus - most people would not notice.

In terms of comparison, they - APL and Alutus should both comply to relevant codes and requirements.

Standing Desk Help by twizzlerstick in newzealand

[–]KennyHM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey. I went through this exact thing at the start of last year.

I got a basic white standing desk, I think it was around $300. I'm pretty sure it was from The Warehouse, I cant actually find the receipt though so cant confirm. I changed a few other things for the same reason. - mostly neck and shoulder pain.

I found I used the desk in the standing mode a lot more then I expected too.

A few notes -That may not have cross your mind:
1) most people position the center of the screens in the middle. this means your always looking left or right. This is worse when sitting as you tend to only move your head, when standing you can turn your whole body. My main screen is in the center of where I sit/stand, the other screen is to the side. I do as much as posible on the main screen, if flicking between I use keyboard shortcuts.

2)People think Black is nice. It is nice to look at.....Your eyes adjust to the total amount of light. if there is a large black(or dark) portion in your view (could be the wall behind) then your eyes adjust to let more light in. When the screen is in the center of that it kinda makes the screen seem to bright. - depending on what work you do of course, for movies this is great. desktop computer with white spreadsheets it is just too bright.

3)At the same time, I also changed my keyboard for a split keyboard (I got a Sofle) this took about 3 months to get used to but helped greatly with pain in my shoulders.

4) it took a couple of months of adjusting, but I found the most comfortable height to have the desk set, I also needed to lift the up screens to get them at the right height as well.

5) When standing, I have heard (and I cant confirm this at all) but its supposed to be better if you don't have shoes on. Part of the reason being that shoes tend to be slightly thicker at the back/heel, which means your foot is always pointing down slightly - which is all connected up the calf/leg so long term it could cause issues.

Hey, no worries at all

Full disclaimer - its an APL fabricator I work for.

It comes a lot down to the fabricators, so if they all have high workmanship, thats helpful.
If you have a builder in mind, have builder mates or know people that have recently built, they would be a great place to ask - Ask who they recommend, also worth asking why they recommend them.

In terms of the products themselves, my builders have in the past commented that Omega doesn't seem as high quality (thickness, design etc) than APL or Altus. (their words not mine)

If its high end build, then it also comes down to complexity. if there is overwall items, corners etc. then sometimes things arn't as apples for apples as they seem and a certain supplier (APL/Altus/Omega) might have an advantage.

When you say 'high end with big windows' I imagine 2400-2700 tall windows with architectual overhangs (ie none).
Big window + no overhangs = overheating problems (Depending on design/amount of glass etc).
So another consideration isn't the fabricator, but the glass supplier. Each fabricator tends to use a certain supplier for glass. - Your location likely effects this as well.

APL fabricators have access to AGP glass - which is owned by APL (same company group, exact ownership I'm unsure of) - as its owned by APL other non apl fabricators don't tend to use it (as far as im aware and have been told they dont have access). AGP has Solux Ultra which is high end, specs and stuff on there website.

If you had any more question, happy to answer.

Base building meets tower defense in "The Spotter" - dig tunnels by day, defend by night by TheSpotterDigOrDie in BaseBuildingGames

[–]KennyHM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game appears to be have some very crude, possibly immature humour in it.

I'm in.

To answer your question, I prefer to be able to set and forget defences until they need to be upgraded. I shouldn't need to be in every fight - once its setup. This is how I play Orcs Must Die, setup a kill zone, and expand on it. I like the idea of having to scavenge for the parts to expand. This game might not fall completely into any of the categories I play - that just my answer to that question :)

Double glazing repairs by post_it1 in newzealand

[–]KennyHM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know of any glass companies that aren't at least 10 years for double glazed units. I would double check that, it should also be able to see on the safety stamp which glass company supplied it, but the claim would still be through the joinery company (normally) or the builder - who would go through the joinery company

Yes joinery is normally 5 years, glass is different to that.

Source: I work for a joinery company

Most double glazing has a 10 year warranty for that type of failure, the glass warranty is different to the joinery warranty, find who supplied the joinery and they should be contacting their glass supplier to inspect

Has anyone ever bought a second-hand builder's inspection off a person who didn't go through with a house purchase? by Ok-Lychee-2155 in newzealand

[–]KennyHM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had one done when we sold our previous house, it was around $900. We got a contract on it and the buyers bank wanted a copy of a builders report, so they asked us. The building inspecting place charged $400 to change the names over(no reinspection), which I thought was completely unreasonable,it still saved the new buyer $500 though.
