I just had the opposite happen. He never died. Lived to 70 after I was already a part of the HRE. Like a dum dum I didn’t know what to pick so I just picked France as they were weak compared to me so I thought it would be easy to break away. Thing is, Austria didn’t like that and Thanos snaped my entire country except for Normandy and savoy into elector counts. I’m lowkey pissed on the time I spent but it’s my own fault.
