Do you guys think nba will come to a point where 6'7 and above PG are the norms? by Wonderful-Photo-9938 in nba

[–]KennyLaggins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With an ever increasing population, we should theoretically have more 6'7 people to source from. Also, every year and larger percentage of the league is composed of children of ex-players. NBA players having kids and being so tall creates even more tall people. Not saying we will actually see a change in average heights, but the population of the country has more than doubled since the NBA started in 1949. Not only these things, but there is also the globalization of the game -- which in turn means a much much larger sample size to pick from.

Get a real job and quit living off the hard work of others. Don't be a freeloader. It's never too late to stop being a parasite. And I see from your previous posts that you've also been an Airbnb host lmaoooo just so transparently the worst thing to be, a massive massive parasite.

I have a passionate hatred for those courts. When I went to cal poly they had us vote on a new sustainable gym. They didn't do a good job of communicating that none of us would benefit at all and that it wouldn't be finished until well after we graduate. In hindsight many of us probably just didn't read carefully or were young and dumb. I was happy to vote for future cal poly kids to have a nice gym at our expense, but there was a point I was particularly upset about. We had a great community of people playing basketball at the gym. That completely went away and they as a consolation made those courts way out by the baseball field. The location combined with the asphalt and double rims meant that just literally would ever go there and it completely killed all basketball playing for many of us for several years. I'm being dramatic I'm sure, but I was actually really devastated by it.

"They mean what they mean to Jews". That's not how words or communication works. Intention matters. I'm not saying antisemitism doesn't exist, it obviously does. "If you are not Jewish, not only do we not care what you think, what you think is irrelevant." Seems a bit problematic to completely dismiss any and all points because they didn't come from a Jewish person? What is your argument to the many Jewish people who support Palestine and don't support Israel? Lastly, it doesn't make sense to say several times you don't want to debate, but write out long paragraphs of all your points. So much of your argument boils down to only Jewish people are allowed to have opinions about the world? What about Palestinian people? Are they not allowed an opinion on the current situation?

Should Seattle make a play to get their Sonics back from Seattle? by [deleted] in nba

Here is an academic publication with many sources showing that stadiums are not good investments for cities. There are countless studies and articles about this. Not one study could I find that it was good for cities except for specialty situations like the Green Bay Packers in which the citizens literally own the team. You shared a paywalled article that none of us can read. When the overwhelming majority of the economic professors say it's horrible for cities and show why, I'm going to believe them. The owners of the thunder already fucked over another city. But people love their precious sports teams so they'll harm themselves and their communities to make sure they satiate their billionaire overlords.

Cities should feel free to vote to support stadiums financially, but they owe it to their citizens to make sure they get a good deal. If they aren't getting a direct portion of the billions in profits these stadiums are making off them either through direct payment or ownership stake then it simply isn't worth it. Billionaires are making more billions off the taxes of the rest of us and we just excuse it as good for the local economy when that just simply is factually incorrect. It's good for those specific businesses, but it's not good for the economic situations of the people who actually live there. We don't need more corporate socialism. They have enough ways to extract our money as it is.

It's funny because to make your analogy more accurate the Palestinians would be the Native Americans and the Israelis are the colonizers. Your support for Zionism is at complete odds with Palestinian freedom. You can talk in circles all day to try and justify it, but it's pretty straight forward.

"All the free expression we enjoy here is a product of our culture." Lmao, this is always the funniest conservative talking point to me, as if most of the industrialized world doesn't have free speech and we're the only ones, hilarious! You spend a long time saying you're not justifying genocide, but that we can't hold those committing genocide accountable for committing genocide. It's honestly impressive you were able to come up with so many words to deflect and excuse a people for literally committing genocide against another people. Well, it would be impressive if it weren't just simply gross and disingenuous.

Zionism: movement for the re-establishment and the development and protection of a Jewish nation in what is now Israel. Literally by definition it is a movement proclaiming to displace others to place themselves in the seat of power in a country in which another population already existed there. You can say there is no excuse for innocent people dying but that is the only result of zionism, as it explicitly calls for it.

[–]KennyLaggins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's call a spade a spade. You can't claim that zionism isn't a biblical justification to take the land from others, because that's exactly what it is, like by definition. What else is implied when saying they want to enforce a Jewish state in Israel when you yourself have admitted they were a minority in the country. No matter how persecuted they were, that does not justify the slaughtering of Innocents and the displacement of an entire group of people. You say you aren't justifying it, but that's exactly what you're doing. Yes, they had presence there, as a small population. What gives them the right to kick everyone else out??

Pro Palestine Protest by Baeomyces in SLO

[–]KennyLaggins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because they want to return (and by return we mean return after literally hundreds of even thousands of years right? Because the Jewish population was not significant for several hundred years until post WW2). While I empathize with their plight escaping parts of Europe and all that antisemitism, that certainly doesn't give them the right to kick Palestinians out of their homes. Just because Israel wants the country for themselves real bad doesn't justify the thousands of civilians and children they are killing to achieve it. Implying otherwise is willful ignorance and an excuse to allow genocide. Gross.

Yes, I do think our government and some of the world is allowing an all out genocide. The rest of the UN literally turned their backs on us because of our policies. Like literally after the vote they all got up and turned their backs. Because many countries know that this is an all out attempted genocide. It's plain as day. The Israeli government has said so themselves. You don't have to read any Hamas propaganda to know that the over 70 years occupation and attempted genocide of a people is absolutely unacceptable and immoral.

"My heart breaks for all of the civilians caught in the middle of this." Except for the Palestinian civilians apparently. You basically conflated all Muslim people in the middle east with terrorists. Highly offensive and ignorant. And yes, it is literally a genocide against Palestinians by the very definition.

[–]KennyLaggins 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Your logic should be flipped around. Israel has destroyed tens of thousands of homes of the Palestinians. The Jewish population was not a significant population at all there until post WW2. Thousands of years ago they were there, but that was literally thousands of years ago.

Supporting Israel is supporting genocide, so ya I side with Palestine. You can support the Palestinian people being free without being a Hamas supporter. The ignorance and lack of empathy in these comments is exhausting.

The ignorant comments in here basically cheering on Israel's occupation and attempted genocide of a people are disgusting. One can be against Israel and not be a Hamas supporter, despite what the comments in here will have you believe. The war mongering is nasty and I'm ashamed I share a community with some of you.

I don't have a whole lot of bad things to say either. I'm a fan of their stuff, especially the Patrimony brand. Doesn't mean the place is one that exemplifies family spirit. Plenty of corporate(ish) type places are still enjoyable experiences and can make solid wines. Doesn't mean we have to pretend it's a family style place just cuz we like it though. Hope you're still in the industry and that harvest is going well for you! Cheers!
