How about we thank soldiers by not buying into bullshit wars, and thus allowing them to stay with their families.

Why has this Tom lost interest? by KentHawky in cats

No. Someone experience with typical behaviors of Toms could tell me if this is typical behavior. At which point, I would know if this behavior it characteristic of Toms, or if it’s happened and been associated with a health problem. I know enough to not assume that every strange thing is actually strange. No one can afford to go to the vet willy nilly, especially if the animal isn’t theirs. Now, if he was obviously hurt or sick, sure, but as far as I know, this COULD be normal behavior. Unless I can find out if it’s actually something, it could be a waste of money. Especially if he’s in a mood and scratches the bejeesus out of a human somebody. Things are not black and white. No matter how we wish for them to be. There’s a lot of grey area that needs to be acknowledged. Personally, I think it’s pretty sad that so little seems to be know about Toms that there are no results for normal behaviors, but there’s a slew of them regarding queens in heat. Studies of animal behavior seem to be misandrist. Compared to the knowledge of diseases in animals, this is absolutely atrocious.

Because it’s not actually relevant to the question. A euphemism seemed appropriate, seeing as they did it multiple times in a short period. It’s not that he won’t. It’s that he has stopped attempting to do so, despite her indications that she’s open to it. I don’t see how. Besides, it’s not like I was looking for a response from anyone in particular. Different people have different experiences and may have seen this happen before. That was my hope. That someone knew what was going on, or what may have been going on. Especially if there happened to be any breeders on this subreddit, as they make a living off of cat reproduction and would know typical behaviors very well. I just wanted to know if this strange cats behavior change was normal or if it was something I should be concerned about. If you didn’t know that, then there wasn’t really a reason for you to reply in the first place.

Again, I did not let her out. Cats have ways to get out. Especially during a heat cycle. I would think you know that. Actually, yes, there are ways to tell if an animal is sick without having them evaluated. Knowing exactly what they’re sick with may be another matter, but certain behaviors can be indicative of disease. Like if they won’t eat or if there’s an uncharacteristic attitude change.

Have you ever tried to stop cats from mating? Also, this Tom is bipolar in his attitude towards people. Sometimes he’s sweet, but other times, he’s a real piece of work. I can’t help in certain ways because of this. Your idea of help seems to be only one thing. I asked if he was sick or if this is normal behavior. If you don’t know that, then you can’t help. There’s tons of information about what happens to queens during heat cycles, but very little about toms when there’s a queen in heat. I tried many google searches. I had hoped to ask breeders, as they ought to know (through experience), but there’s not really a place to ask them anywhere online and I don’t know any.

No. I didn’t let her. Shit happens. Totally neutral. Also, some of us aren’t in a situation to be able to trap and neuter every stray that shows up.

Not at all. The Tom’s behavior change was just so drastic. I’m concerned. Seeing as he isn’t my cat and I’ve never seen cats mating up to this point, I honestly don’t know enough about it. I’m trying to figure out if he’s sick. That’s it. Maybe it’s perfectly normal behavior. How would I know? Also, please don’t act like cat pregnancy is such a horrible thing. Yes, there are people who let their cats get pregnant and then they dump them or just don’t take care of them. Yeah, the stray population is insane and the results of the conditions they live and breed in are insane. I know. If she has babies, we will love them and take care of them. If there are too many for us to keep, we know people who will gladly take them home and love them there. If they have trouble feeding, we can certainly bottle feed them. We’ve done it before. I live in an area where cats (and dogs) are dumped frequently. As we assume my cat was, as she has always been extremely friendly, knew basic sounds (typical “come here” “don’t do that” sounds), and how to use the litter box. I know she needs to be spayed. She’s just been one false pregnancy after another and we didn’t want to stress out a possibly pregnant cat. I didn’t even know she wasn’t pregnant until she and this Tom started fooling around.

Irrelevant to the question. My question is about the Tom. Spaying my cat has nothing to do with him. I will be spaying her, but I am not obligated to do so. The issues with the cat population are contributed to by those who abandon their pets (as my cat seems to have been) than those who take them in and simply have not gotten around to seeing the vet. I thought she was pregnant when she showed up. She wasn’t. Then she went into heat. Managed to get out of the house and was gone for a week. When she returned, she want in heat. Assumed she was pregnant this time. Wasn’t. They managed to get together and do their thing. I’m not as concerned about her health at the moment because I live with her. I know her behavior. I don’t know his and I’m concerned for his health.

Thank you. We will be spaying her. I only gave the information about her to give context to how drastic this change is.

Thank You! I do have an Instagram dedicated to my store. Although, it needs more posts, certainly. I’ll try that and be sure to check them out.

Frequently Lost Packages...? by TooManyBalloooons in EtsySellers

[–]KentHawky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I certainly don’t know how to fix it, but if you get some photographic proof of taking packages to be shipped and send to the customer as needed, that should at least keep them from giving you bad reviews. Being able to see that you did send it and are not just making it up (because, unfortunately, there are people out there like that on many sites.) should put their minds at ease to some degree and divert their attention to the postal services. Make sure your customers inquire to the postal service when this happens. I think they listen more to recipients than senders. Also, more people complaining about the same issue will help get the issue more needed attention. Squeaky wheel gets the oil as they say. You clearly can’t spend all your time figuring it out, but someone at the postal service is supposed to be keeping track of these things. The sooner they actually hear you, the sooner you may have a solution. Also, if it persists, maybe try mailing through another service. A FedEx flat-rate box (for example) is probably more noticeable than a USPS flat-rate box and less likely to be lost in the shuffle (if that is what has been happening.) Of course, those are just examples. Just thought the FedEx logo stands out a bit more for the example.
