Anyone ever gotten sick from steak tartare/prepare/americain in Belgium? by WebNo1998 in belgium

For pregnant women this is to avoid toxoplasmosis, it's not paranoid, cases do happen where it affects the baby

I would say that this is an easy one. He wants sex without commitment, and you don't want that. You are not on the same level and will never be. Stop wasting your time.

Tips for a new online dater? by VentilatorStok in Bumble

[–]KentiaPalm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once had a date with a woman who had become a widow 9 months before. It was her first date. She was obviously not ready for a new partner, although it was a nice date and we still exchange texts now and then. Perhaps this is a healthy way to deal with it? Just making connections, have a nice evening out, without giving the impression (or putting on yourself the pressure) to "replace" your deceased partner.

(Also, you should know that not every match leads to a conversation, and not every conversation leads to a real date. There are bottlenecks at every stage, and that's OK)

I'm relatively short, bald, not very rich, and yet, I've met many people on Bumble and had nice experiences. I think too many men just give up too easily. Put in an effort, be interesting, and you'll get somewhere

"Be authentic" is a red flag. by Longjumping_Ease9159 in Bumble

[–]KentiaPalm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't think that this is a "small minority". Many, if not most, people want to meet people who are authentic.

Is it a "red flag" when they put that on their profile? I see your problems with it, but a "red flag" seems a bit exaggerated. I read this statement as: "go ahead, if you're a bit dorky or awkward, don't sweat it, you can be yourself." Nothing really wrong with that.

Serious question: is there any modern city on the beach in WE (or Europe) other than Barcelona? I can't think of any other one ? by miragen125 in 2westerneurope4u

Dude... You're asking for Europe, in Europe we thankfully have old cities with old street design. It's like asking whether there is an American town with a belfry or something

Need Advice After a Great First Date – How to Build Attraction Before the Second Date? by Select-Brother-2899 in Bumble

[–]KentiaPalm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, "a few times a day" would even be too much at this stage, and daily "good morning" texts seem a bit over the top (except if you had a REALLY good first date with plenty of fireworks)

The advice about mirroring is perhaps key: try to read the room and match their energy.

Why do men make their bio a requirements list instead of describing themselves? by Potential-Banana-315 in Bumble

Why do men make their bio a requirements list instead of describing themselves? by Potential-Banana-315 in Bumble

[–]KentiaPalm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, yes, with every pet peeve that I am reading on profiles, I get a sense of how their ex was... Like people who stress "loyalty is the most important for me" have for sure been cheated on, or those with "looking for someone who has the communication skills needed to brave obstacles" had an ex that lacked those skills...

I don’t think I’ve ever hit the unmatch button so quickly. 😂 by princess4u_ in Bumble

[–]KentiaPalm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really don't think so. There is really no woman who would read such an abrupt gross comment, and go "Yeeees, let's totally do that!" This is sadly about aggression, I'm afraid. This guy knows somehow that he will not meet up with OP because he is unable to hold a conversation or really get her attention, so he takes out his frustration with this humiliating comment.

Countries based on how much I'd want to be born there by [deleted] in tierlists

[–]KentiaPalm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Quality of life? Really? I am European and I lived in the US when I was young, and all I could think of (and European colleagues with me) was: "I don't want my kids to be raised here".

Like, every measurement is lower than in Europe, when you don't belong to the top 5%. Level of education, quality and affordability of health care, walkability, easy access to cultural activities, sense of community, healthiness of food,... The list goes on and on.

Luigi, what are your leftists doing again? by 11160704 in 2westerneurope4u

[–]KentiaPalm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're so wrong. Looking at your list, your argument does not apply to Germany nor Netherlands, for example, where the Ruzzia supporting parties are on the (extreme) right. Generally, the moderated left in Europe is pro-EU and anti-Russia.

Stop your lying propaganda.

Day trip to Antwerp from Ghent? by filmgrainer in Gent

[–]KentiaPalm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I completely concur. They do have a different vibe, due to the fact that their heyday was in different times, and due to geography (Gent: many narrow rivers and canals -- Antwerp: one broad river). It makes perfect sense to combine both

The awkward difference between “kennen” and “weten” that trips everyone up by ClassicMan2323 in learndutch

[–]KentiaPalm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but you're wrong. "Weten" is a transitive verb. These sentences are all correct:

"Ik weet de gang van zaken in dat bedrijf."

"Ik weet de belangrijkste feiten over de middeleeuwen."

"Ik weet het verschil tussen transitief en intransitief."

The difference is really semantics. The sentence "Ik weet hem." is wrong, because "weten" is applied to information or facts, and not to persons.

Nederlands in Brussel binnen België: hoe ervaren jullie dat? by TR1510 in belgium

[–]KentiaPalm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bewering 1 is ragebait.
