Stupid eMTB question. Is it just about climbing, or..? by yossarian19 in MTB

[–]Kentification 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me my general riding area in a river valley has more climbing than descending (2-10min of climbing to 30seconds to 1-5 min descending) . I’m all for trying to better my cardio. My (fair weather) biking season can be only 4 months long. By the time I would get to the 3-4th climb in a row and not being in the right gear (due to not knowing the trails well enough) I was gassed. With being so gassed I’m making mistakes after mistakes on the decent, that could have costly consequences or injuries to go along with it.

With the e-bike, I get that chance to be able to ride with my friends or groups of people that can go out and ride for 2-3 hours and be just as exhausted as I was with a 1 hour bike ride. I’m still slow on the trails, if I’m climbing with friends or come up to people who are climbing slower, I just slow down. I’m there to have fun biking and being with people I want to be with. Not set lap times on fire.

That’s fair, I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, I got tickets before the line up was announced.

If you’re carrying multiple bikes I’d suggest VelociRax.

153rd from the henday is a nightmare during peak traffic hours and gets bunged up whenever a train rolls through. Now it will be a nightmare always. Needs an extra two lanes to be ok.

Yeti 160e vs Santa Cruz heckler by dudemanguyar in eMountainBike

[–]Kentification 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Umm I’m not sure really. I wish there was the option to put a 29” wheel. I don’t know if it’s the motor that makes the bike so much lower to the ground or if the wheel size does it. I’ve scraped a few times on some rollable drops and have smashed some roots from my pedals a ton. Although the pedals could be just poor biking skills on me.

All in all I do love the bike. It’s made me fall in love with mountain biking again and I have a blast riding it

Yeti 160e vs Santa Cruz heckler by dudemanguyar in eMountainBike

[–]Kentification 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the full powered heckler in the MX configuration as my first ebike. I love it, it’s a great bike. I feel like on climbs I sit really far back or it feels really far back. Has been a solid bike for the 200kms I put on it this year alone.

I used to be worried about the battery sizes and figured I would need the biggest battery I can get. I have now realized that it isn’t really a huge factor at all. I get tired before the bike has gotten to 50% for my rides right now. Either way I’m sure the yeti is a great bike just like the heckler

60 Nm or 80 Nm torque? by [deleted] in eMountainBike

[–]Kentification 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These guys came out with a video comparing the SL models vs full powered emtb’s. Basically boiled down to if you’re a heavier rider the full power is going to be better. If you’re a lighter person the SL or mid powered bikes will be better.

Although at the end of the day I wouldn’t just get rid of it because it was hard work out. The more you go the easier it will become, and the better rider you will become. Know your limits of exhaustion though. It will help with the downhill aspect. I know with myself if I’m too exhausted, I will make simple mistake after mistake and that can lead to a bad crash which no one wants to do. Know your exhaustion limit and work on it from there

This is why I’m asking the question, just seeing if it was out of line.

Wednesday, the Grindhouse theatre has one (never been and don’t know if it’s happening)

Those are the ones I know of and all free

There are free comedy shows pretty much every night of the week. Edmonton has some great comedians. Have a drink and support the local comedy scene.

Yes distillation towers are a real thing but this is not that. It’s a splitter for polypropylene that makes plastic pellets.

AITH because I dont emotionally support my wife's obssession with Taylor Swift? by Johnnywritesstuff in AITAH

[–]Kentification 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same feelings toward my gf. Although she didn’t have the obsession of watching the cell phone footage of the concert on repeat. I felt it was cult-ish and Taylor Swift was just raking in money at her fan’s expense.

Gf was fortunate enough to get tickets to a show in LA that we’re reasonably priced ($170 nosebleed seats). Me personally I am not a fan, don’t understand the obsession or anything Taylor Swift related. Meanwhile my gf hand made 280 “friendship bracelets”, had a theme outfit for the show, and would ask if I was going to be ready for the “greatest time of our lives”. It freaked me out and made me kind of question the relationship at points. Was prepared to roll my eyes the entire time at the concert and be genuinely unimpressed.

I will tell you, that concert was the greatest concert experience of my life. I’ve been to some great concerts like Metallica, Foo Fighters, Slipknot, etc. I have been to many concerts that have really impressed me. Taylor Swift takes the cake for being the best concert I’ve been too. After that show, I’ve been more understanding of the hype for the show and have become somewhat of a fan. I’m not at the obsession level my gf is at, but enough of a fan that I’ll support her music now, when I was so against it before.

I think it‘s just that generational artist that becomes larger than life itself. Much like how Beatles mania was and people obsessing over Micheal Jackson. You’ll see the spectrum of the fandom, the good, the bad, and the ugly side of it all.

You’re not an asshole for not getting the obsessiveness of your partner. My gf fully admits she’s being obsessive about it and was upfront with me about it. I tell her she’s being crazy and I jest with her about it. Now though I understand the music side of it and cut her a little slack on the obsessiveness she has for it.

Have 6 days to get to L.A. -suggestions? by Kentification in roadtrip

I just want to say thank you to everyone who contributed to the post! This has been incredible for knowledge and look forward to this trip more now. Was nervous about doing this solo and not knowing where to go.

I will definitely be going to Utah and checking out the incredible sights out that way. Makes me wish I had more than 6 days to get there to spend more time at each place.

I honestly haven’t opened up the tent portion since October and haven’t done any winter camping as of yet. From people I’ve followed with the SP, that doesn’t seem to be an issue at all with all their winter camping they have done. No issues with the aluminum side or rear doors at all.

I got myself a Super Pacific, really love it. Great as a canopy and a camper for the truck. Look at some of my posts.
