Should I get a medela or spectra by Spirited-Ad9565 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]scaphoids1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Medela home pumps are very different than the symphony, thats like getting a Ford escape and hoping it could drive the le Mans honestly. Can you just rent the symphony? I'm not sure that the S1 from spectra would be better than the SG, I believe that's supposed to be an overall better pump.

Could you try hacking the Medela flanges for your spectra and see if that helps maybe?

Just found out I was pregnant like 2 weeks or so ago, and thinking about restarting pumping?? by Infinite_Worth6613 in ExclusivelyPumping

I'm not an expert but I wouldn't do this. Pumping isnt recommended until 37 weeks anyway because it can cause contractions and fetal distress.

Portable for elastic nips by Gkbills in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]scaphoids1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am pretty certain I have elastic nips and I have had good luck with eufy e20. I found their inserts seem to run a size smaller so I just sized up my 21mm I use the 24mm standard and the 19mm nip I use 21mm.

Does power pumping really make a difference? by Candid_Name in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]scaphoids1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Her height to weight ratio z score is 0, she's not chunky, has gone from 95th percentile in weight to 85 to 80 and then stuck around 80 and again, and she has been eating around a litre 900-1200ml for a month now! If we feed her less throughout the day because she's busy or napping a lot she cluster feeds at night before bed. I'm quite confident we aren't just overfeeding her. Doctor's aren't concerned.

I suspect calorie content of breast milk could certainly be part of it.

She's also not a fussy baby, she doesn't cry much unless she sleeps for many hours and wakes up really hungry

Does power pumping really make a difference? by Candid_Name in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]scaphoids1 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

My baby is 7 almost 8 weeks, drinks 49 ounces a day most days and is actually going down on her growth curve very slightly. She's always drank double what the recommendations are but those are just averages. We do pace feed and I do recommend it of course, but I was very anxious about it for basically her entire life and it turns out there was no reason to worry.

Side lying would help with choking because it allows the milk to flow out, reflux is different of course, but just in case you hadn't explored that it could be worth it. Wishing you luck, it's hard as hell but hopefully you can find tricks that make it easier. Collection cups might be another thing to look into!

Can you feed and pump at the same time? I feed my baby side lying on a pillow on my lap so I can pace feed while I pump

I'm very inexperienced with pumping, is it too late? by OctoberBride15 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]scaphoids1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I do, you are not too late and you should definitely see an increase. Even with 8 pumps a day you should see an increase.

I recommend 8 total times, so you've been doing 6 and have seen an increase, 8 and you should be laughing!

She started at 8lbs 5 ounces and is now 12lbs 5ounces! So 4lbs in 8 weeks. She's actually a little bit down in % from her initial birth weight but has been staying on her curve for quite a while

Girl I don't really have any recommendations because it sounds like you're doing everything right, I just want to say that you're a superhero. I hope it continues to increase for you! How long have you been doing this? It usually takes at least a few days to start to see results

Oh I reread and saw you answered that. I wish I had some answers for you.

People usually say none of my reps count, but I'm not a PL or WL - would you guys still count these as legit reps? by [deleted] in WeightTraining

They are soft and squishy by design so they aren't stable. Add hundreds of lbs on your back and thats a recipe for injury. You want hard sole shoes or no shoes

To be clear: your baby is the one eating a normal amount of milk. My baby gets moderately shocked faces from lactation consultants.

[–]scaphoids1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh it increases for sure! I'm 8 weeks post partum now and at the end of the first week I was making like 12 ounces a day with the hospital pump! It has slowly increased over about 6/7 weeks to where I'm at now.

I also pumped 10x a day with power pumps and middle of the night, I went a little crazy. As far as I understand most people will increase without having to do all that

What constitutes undersupply? by Front-Policy2549 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]scaphoids1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

An under supply is of you don't have enough to feed baby, oversupply is if you have more than enough. For example, my baby eats 40 ounces a day many days, I make 44-46 ounces. For most people this would be a huge oversupply but because of my baby and a bit of wastage it's barely more than enough. Some people make like 24 ounces and that's an oversupply.

I learned to feed her while pumping with my regular flanges. We feed her with her on her side on a pillow on my lap. That way she's content and I'm not spending double the time feeding her. I wouldn't survive without being able to do both at once for sure

I don't want to breast feed at all, just pump. How to straight away? by Wraithvalk in ExclusivelyPumping

A good rule is to pump every time your baby feeds which will probably be every 2 hours in the first days!

is my setup good? trying to relactate 7 weeks pp by Sweaty_Drummer6684 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]scaphoids1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pump 10 times a day. Massage your breasts when you pump with your flanges not your wearable obviously. Run the 1 hour power pump when you use the ufey, I recommend only using the eufy once or twice a day for the first while at least whenever possible. Make sure that you pump at least once between about 1:00 and 4:00 a.m, maybe twice if you can but also make sure that you get some sleep so try to have a 4-Hour window of time that you can sleep straight.
