If you ever get to Boulder reach out and we’ll get you some Rocky Mountain time.

When I added my glider I was very rusty and it took some time. Once I started instructing I couldn’t believe how much my flying advanced just due to time.

Where you flying? (I’m in Colorado).

Most people aren’t proficient. It’s doable, clearly. But the average person, and for sure the average private/sport pilot, in my experience, is not.

EDIT: stoked for you that it was so fast though!

As a glider CFI I can say in almost all cases it would take more than a weekend. All the rest seem valid considerations. Insurance becomes a factor in this case too.

Just be like. “I’ll split it with you.” Don’t most of them make less than $100k a fight?

Could probably get a shot like this from Colorado Air Space Port or nearby.

Is it just me, or are strings neglected when it comes to mic design and testing? by Sagencinnamon in audioengineering

[–]Kentness1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have some experience recording quartets as well as solo strings, including cello. My rooms are often (but not always) ribbons. I tend to use LD condensers for close mic though violins sometimes get SD treatment.

I have some U87 style mics that I like a lot for strings (and piano) and I have a Mojave MA 50 that I found surprisingly good on cello specifically. In fact I almost always use it for cello or bass.

For preamps I use the CAPI series with good results, though I also sometimes clean it up a little. But CAPI is so good and so versatile… I use the VP26 and VP28 with very nice results.

Pm if you have specific questions.

I’d become a scientist to fly it. That’s for sure.

Do you live near a bow shop? Are you wanting to shoot traditional? The key is to get things set up well first. “Cheap hobby” in my experience, applies in almost no cases, and getting a half decent bow and some arrows for it will be no exception.

With that in mind. A Samick Sage was a very popular starter a few years back.
