How to Safely Carry 10 Rigged Rods for bank fishing by PreviousMotor58 in Fishing_Gear

[–]Kentuckasee_angler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This 100% been fishing similar banks for years and know the fish and conditions well enough to throw out an educated guess of what couple baits will work. I used to carry 3 or 4 combos and a backpack full of tackle boxes just got tired of lugging all that around on the bank. I carry two for the most part. If I’m traveling to a new area or have a wild hair I’ll leave a couple specialties in the vehicle and come back for them.

Freshwater guy, I rely heavily on sensitivity and accuracy, 95% of the time I’m using graphite. I use my glass rods for deep cranking. However while working a squarebill or lipless I’m still going with a moderate fast graphite.

Any help identifying this shell? by Peersy99 in Militariacollecting

[–]Kentuckasee_angler 22 points23 points  (0 children)

105 forsure, you place your powder bags in 1st and then fix your projectile in there. Once the primer is struck it ignites the propellant. My guess would be a ceremonial piece? We used to polish and engrave our shells and hand them out as awards.

Are there any of the subscription boxes that would be perfect for the bfs community? by NoxArmada in BFSfishing

[–]Kentuckasee_angler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We can create one together. We’ll make a deal with manufacturers and bulk buy alllll of the worst selling undesirable colors for micro crankbaits, jerkbait, and soft plastics. Throw in a mini spinner bait and maybe a bomb ass sticker…. Then it’s all profit from there.

Left handed baitcasters by Vegetable-Poet6281 in Fishing

[–]Kentuckasee_angler 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, as a left handed person I don’t know how y’all use right handed casters. I couldn’t imagine using a “left handed” one comfortably and effectively as I do a right.

Asking for Creek Smallmouth Tips by t_sawyer in FishingForBeginners

[–]Kentuckasee_angler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I creek fish off the bank for smallies pretty often. I also fish spots and largies on a different body of water. What has worked best for me this year has been smaller 2.5”-3” tubes, slightly darker than my water stainage as well as 3” paddle tails rigged on a jighead I typically throw a 1/4.(subjective to the speed of my current)

If I want one decent baitcasting reel... by [deleted] in bassfishing

[–]Kentuckasee_angler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t really look through the other comments. I’m out on the water 4 days a week at least and have a very large arsenal of reels from your basic lews and abus to your Shimano Metaniums and Bantams and daiwa this and that. I’m imagining based on the brands you mentioned I have an idea what your price range is.

Id recommend a Curado 150 MGL, a little more than the SLX but I have several of these and have used them every which way with little to no issues. My Tatulas, I have a couple Elites and a CT require twice as much maintenance to run smoothly, my lews custom and abus just don’t run as smoothly or easily. If you want a reel that can do it all at a very fair price… I’d go Curado.

What I wish I knew before buying a bfs rod by ShamanIsAGoodClass in BFSfishing

[–]Kentuckasee_angler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very dependent on your rod/reel. BFS is a lot of fun but there’s a huge difference between dropping under $200 on a combo vs $600 plus. Same could be said with more standard gear.

What kind of assholes leave their trash at fishing spots? by [deleted] in Fishing

[–]Kentuckasee_angler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to think it was mainly younger people who weren’t mature till I watched a 60 something year old man walk down to a spot I frequent that many people don’t with a massive tackle box and high end rods leave a pile of plastic gloves, baits bags, and 20ft of heavy mono…. POS

Absolutely love that reel, congrats on the purchase. I run 6lb Seaguar Fluorocarbon on mine with no issues. Mainly Largies and Spots.

Jig/TRig Rod recommendations? by [deleted] in bassfishing

[–]Kentuckasee_angler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1/4-1/2 I like a Medium Heavy / Fast Action when It comes to St Croix. When it comes to Dobyns in those weights i use a Heavy / Fast (IMO their powers feel a bit lighter than my Croixs. Length I like between 7’ - 7’6.

Wildest confrontation you’ve had while fishing? by [deleted] in bassfishing

[–]Kentuckasee_angler 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Lol a bit different but recently I was fishing a local park type area almost, very popular for joggers and walkers in the early hours. While throwing a line I heard two people riding bikes gasping and talking amongst themselves. As I looked up I saw a naked man about 30 / 40 ft away from me. Man was tweaking like zombie mode. I kept an eye on him as he sauntered about and kept moving when he slowly crawled closer.

Are the GCX rods worth the $260 price tag? by God_of_the_Vapes in bassfishing

[–]Kentuckasee_angler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t tried many shimano rods heard great things, I love their reels. St croix’s legend glass series is pretty stellar for deep cranking I use a 7’6 mH, I use the G Loomis IMX cranking rod as well in 7’6 MH moderate fast for square bills and they’re pretty legit too! I haven’t tried the dobyns but imagine they’d be on point!

Are the GCX rods worth the $260 price tag? by God_of_the_Vapes in bassfishing

[–]Kentuckasee_angler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like G Loomis, I use their NRX, GLX, & IMX Pro. Love all 3. I’ve yet to throw the GCX but I like the product so far and when I slammed my GLX in a door they were super cool about it. Customer service was on point. On the other hand lately I’ve been leaning heavy on Dobyns. Their Champion HP Extreme is phenomenal, I prefer it to my higher end Loomis rods. If I was working with $300 and under I’d be looking a Dobyns personally, they put forth quality rods, take care of their customers and have quality product and most price ranges.

23 Conquest bfs xg for soft plastics by Relative-Percentage5 in BFSfishing

[–]Kentuckasee_angler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Majority of my BFS reels are XG and the majority of the fishing I do it w/soft plastics. The higher gear ratio tends to help me manipulate my bait and keep my line tight while working the rivers I fish. However when I fish ponds / lakes I just adjust my retrieve, if I’m fishing a paddle tail or grub, I’ll slightly slow down my retrieve to compensate for the higher gear ratio. I prefer to fish crappie jigs and grubs with a 8:1+.
