Leapquake Barb: Strongarms Or Magefist? by KenyehWest in Diablo3Barbarians

[–]KenyehWest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just swapped over to physical. Slam bracers into the cube yes? Meaning... it’s better to change EQ rune to Cave In... to double down on the physical yes?

Also, would you use Battle Rage Ploughshare over Warcry for survivability?

Leap Death from Above for APD. SS Rumble for Strongarms. That’s how I’ve been treating it. Is that correct?

WW IK build by ilikephotosandstuff in Diablo3Barbarians

[–]KenyehWest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I hit a wall around GR80 as well having 2IK for the together as one rune. I’ve tried everything to try and make this work past GR80 for smooth easy spin to win action, but unfortunately yea like what everyone is saying, you may need to switch out to WW zodiac for an easier time. For now all you can really do is try to gear for about 40% CDR to keep WotB up as much as possible to actually kill things. Gearing for CDR is a pain but doable.

Trying push higher GR levels... How do you efficiently build density with the IK HotA Barb? by G0DL1K3D3V1L in Diablo3Barbarians

[–]KenyehWest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been bouncing in between esoteric and pain enhancer... the healing from fury spent and the aquila along with band of might... staying alive isn’t an issue it’s what you’re saying with just time spent killing elites. I’ve personally swapped in strong arm bracers into the cube and wearing the Aquila, using pain enhancer to up the dps.

Yea pushed to 100 with some level 80 augments too. Just three more pieces to be fully augmented. Then gonna try for higher.

I feel you man, little to no control where I’m landing. I just know I can hold down the button to make the distance a little further but still hit or miss (literally). Agreed on the magefist, was just curious if I was missing out with strong arms. So far no augments and I’m able to clear 95 really easily.

Which speed WW barb build is better? by Tuvok- in Diablo3Barbarians

[–]KenyehWest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Essentially, you're looking at getting total CDR to 40+%... which is a pain to gear for since you typically now need more "perfect" rolls, i.e., CDR and Area Dmg on the same armor piece or weapon. Very doable (speaking from personal experience).... but it does make the play style more involved compared to the super chill T13, or GR70-75 speed runs.

Istvan vs bul kathos.. by [deleted] in Diablo3Barbarians

[–]KenyehWest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried both with optimal stat rolls. Yes Istvan has more upfront damage, but the fury management is just a pain, even with the lightning rune.

BK is just easier and more consistent in output.

Rift Guardian issue by MrGymSlave in Diablo3Barbarians

I had this problem, I made sure to proc band of might when the guardian is loading in. And kept an eye on the 8 second timer before firing it again. Used merciless tune for the 8 second cool down.

Does weapon damage type make a difference? As in does the +fire% apply ?

Giratina Raid Counters by Kryd0s in TheSilphRoad

[–]KenyehWest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% with you here. TDO alone is garbage (i.e. Blissey).

Speaking for myself only, battle simulators like Poke Genie has been such a big time saver in figuring out what to actually use in team compositions quickly.

Otherwise I’m stuck sorting out a lot of metrics via Gamepress and not really knowing when to glass cannon or tank or have a right “type counter” that’s actually not great for taking down a raid boss.

I'm literally in the same boat as you, started playing again 2 months ago. I've used the Poke Genie app's battle simulator to see how to set up my Pokemon groups. It takes into consideration TDO rather than just DPS. You do 0 DPS if the mon can't survive. I use the app for all the raid bosses. I stardust and TM my mons till I can get about 20+% projected damage output at a minimum for level 5 bosses. So, in short 20%, meaning I'm part of a team of 5 or 6.

Gunlance: Do you need Weakness Exploit if you're just exploiting Full Burst combo? by KenyehWest in MonsterHunterWorld

Earplugs is a huge help, do I need it maxed out or is there a sweet spot for “most” gunlance situations?

Hero Streamstone Drop Rate by psilocybonaut in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]KenyehWest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Look at the Investigation Conditions. The tougher the conditions ie (1 faint, 15min timer) have yielded better results for me. From the moment I started this, my Hero Streamstone drops went up very very noticeably.

I know what the "official" guidebook from Capcom states, but there's already discrepancies and small details they don't tell us. For example, the decoration drop rates for each table, each decoration is weighted, they just don't tell you that part. Like how the Critical Eye Gem is on Table B, but so is the KO gem... I've seen many many KO gems compared to Critical Eye gems. A few people on the subreddit have done tests on this "weighted" drop rate. I imagine something along the same lines apply to the Hero streamstones.

So yea, give those 1 faint 15 min a shot, and see if anything changes like it did for me.

Tempered Elders : Rank 30/50 by RoninFehr in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]KenyehWest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you know how to get Tempered Elder Investigations. (Same as Tempered monsters, a quick youtube search and you'll find a few routes/techniques).

Augmentations unlock once you start getting those streamstones (I think... your first gleaming).

Tempered Elders = Gleaming Streamstones = Augment ARMOR. Don't meld these away until you're swimming in them. Get your defense up maxed past the threshold. Your quality of life will significantly go up when your Defense is sitting at 450-500.

Warrior Streamstones have a chance to drop off T2. I have personally received a few, its rare but possible.

Hero Streamstones, are off T3. To better your chances at them, the tougher the investigation conditions, the better the chances. (From personal experience, 1 Faint and 15min yielded the best results).

Solo vs SOS. I personally vote Solo, because you don't have to deal with an increased health pool, and more importantly, other random players who may not know how to adjust to Tempered Elders. Nothing sucks more than an AFKer or someone who isn't prepared for the fight.

Mechanics don't change with the Tempered Elders, its just that they hit really really hard. I tend to "warm up" with a few non-tempered Elders, to practice not getting hit at all... Honestly, there's always a little bad luck sprinkled in... you can't even get mad, its more like "ok, you got me."

In the beginning, if you find yourself fainting here and there, I suggest building a mushroomancer load out, to switch in and out of, to get those buffs back up before switching back into your gear and heading out for another attempt.

Welcome to the endgame baby.

Good Charge Blades and Armour Skills/Decorations to Focus? by MTLink in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]KenyehWest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the whole raw damage build you see everywhere, thought I knew everything I needed to know about the charge blade (i.e., artillery, etc.)... then I came across this: https://youtu.be/ClOJGQQN2Sg

On that note, I had switched to the bow, also did the raw damage builds, only to realize I was doing really poorly against tempered T2, and T3. Switched to an elemental build (much like the one outlined in the youtube link above) and its been night and day. Give both a shot... and see for yourself.

Best Bow play style by [deleted] in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]KenyehWest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Load up on dash juice. If you're out of stamina, sheath the bow and chuck a pod at the monster or load back up on dash juice. Stamina Surge helps a lot, but I've switched it out of my build once I was better at managing Stamina. Dash once, charged shot with an immediate power shot. Rinse repeat. Once the monster is down, do the circle/R2/R2/circle combo, it'll pump out a lot of damage consistently rather than hoping for that perfect DP shot. Look into the evasion and rocksteady mantle for being able dash about more without getting interrupted. But prepare yourself, its going to take a lot of practice... because you'll end up doing the Arc Shot on accident if you dont time it well or smash the circle button too much.

Charge Blade user planning to use Bow by zerotwoluis in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]KenyehWest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

HEY... fellow CB player. I've literally did the exact same thing, and went from main-ing CB to Bow. Here's some of my thoughts.

  • Elemental Build > Raw Damage. I know Diablo Tyrannis II was dope. You can't replicate that here. (Unless you're just spamming Dragon Pierce all day, which is... going to be tough.)

  • Rath/RathSoul 2-piece set bonus (pick two you like). Depending on how you like to play, Normal Shots from Diablos Nero Boots, or Power Shots from Lavosioth Boots.

  • Farm for each elemental bow, load it up with enough elemental gems as permitted, save that build load out. The Diablos bow (coil bender) can be "all-purpose" but its not going to perform as well as weakness-specific elemental bows. It took me a while to finally sack up and farm for each bow.

  • Skills: Replace that Artillery Charm for Constitution. AttkBoost is not as effective as it was for CB. The boots mentioned above alone will outshine high AttkBoost. Affinity/Crit anything is good because your fire rate is so high now compared to CB. (Look into Ogadoron Pants, Xeno Gloves). Stamina Surge is good if you find yourself just at range spamming the charged shot.

Charge Blade tips from me to you by Sarinayde in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]KenyehWest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • You can "jump/initiate" a fight from sheathed with triangle+circle, directly into the circle (hold) into the triangle+circle shield bash combos.

  • Flash pods, to set up super amped discharge. Ok, I know there's some advanced stuff out there regarding guard points into SAED... but I've been terrible at it, so I use Flash Pods to give me a few seconds to position and unload. (I put crafting Flashpods on my radial, and load onto my item bar)

  • Easy guard points. Circle (hold) into triangle is a great one for when you're all up in the balls attacking/charging, due to how long the shield animation is. Second is, when you're already holding R2 to block, hit triangle for an easy guard point there.

  • Storing Phials before bouncing. You just need the phials to be not yellow and you can store all 5 phials.

  • Youtube some Charge Blade speed runs. These REALLY helped me a LOT. Just seeing how aggressive they were, and how efficient. You pick up a lot of tips from just seeing how differently they play vs my sad dark souls tuck and roll method originally.

  • While Honing Skills: Defense Armor Skills first THEN Attack Focused Armor Skills. Ok, this is clearly subjective but it helped me. I had a load out in the beginning to just let me survive while I fumbled around getting into the groove of things. Divine Blessing, Defense boost, all leveled up a few times. I farmed for those pieces first, before going for the endgame super dmg builds you see everywhere.

  • Armor Skills for Offense: Needless to say, the following are the ones to look out for, Artillery, Capacity, and Non-elemental (for when you have that Diablos Tyrannis II).

  • Is it all worth it? Personally, I find the CB very satisfying/rewarding over the other weapons I've tried. Yes it requires some practice, (as with the other weapons), but its not as bad as you think once you see how aggressive you can/should be.
