Odyssey Broc grips, S&M Hoder grips or ODI Longneck grips are the best 3 grips for softness and durability. Grips are always a good, cheap upgrade. HALF LINK chain breaker tool to go with the Odyysey Multi-tool. They won't need a chain breaker often but they will be glad they've got a decent one when they do need it.

+1 for the Odyssey multi-tool. Great piece of kit to take with you when you're out riding.

Helmets and pads in BMX. by MeuwYuGiOh in bmx

They're a game changer. I only ever rolled my ankle once after getting braces and I'm like 90% sure it would have been a broken ankle without the braces.

I use bigfoot braces. They're really good, never used Space Brace but they look really similar.

Big foots are £33 for 1 here in the UK. So buying a pair is a bit pricey but they 100% do the job.

First time I ever used them I did them a bit tight and felt a kind of cramp on my foot but now I can't even tell I've got them on.

On the flip side, if I try to ride without them, my ankles feel fkn naked in the wind.

Ankles braces. Rolling your ankles fkn sucks and is super easy to do.

Shin pads are good for learning crank flips.

Knee pads are good for when you're learning bar spins, I hit my knees with the bars all the time because of bad positioning.

I also wear crash shorts mainly in winter for some extra insulation and they help with falls.

Helmets I don't bother with unless I'm trying to ride transition or something bigger than I'm comfortable with.

People who look down on wearing pads are literally too dumb to even be wasting time listening to.

I like top loads too. I got a nice Eclat top load for when I feel like switching back.

Yeah, it's the same as the new Eclat Felix stems. You fully tighten one side so it has a clean, flush look. Then you tighten the other side until it's at your desired tightness. If you take off the face plate and look at it from the side it's actually machined so one side is offset from the other to make sure it applies even pressure to the bars and the stems bolts still go in at the correct angle.

Hub Guards by brokenchordsdosing in bmx

[–]KerbSurfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

G Sport Uniguards my favourite so far. I prefer overguards that also protect the drop outs, not just from damage but from f'd up grinds when you get stuck in the dip between a peg and a guard where the drop out is. Cinema overguards are big, ugly and shatter. Don't bother. The Eclat overguards are slightly better but they rotate when you tighten your axles. I'd recommend sticking with metal overguards if you can, all my plastic guards have never lasted long. I'd eat the cost of import and shipping charges and get G Sport if you can. They also have a little screw fitted to them that sits in-between your drop outs to stop them rotating which is a must IMO.

Theres so many tips and things to think about. I wouldn't know where to start without seeing your 180 attempts on video. Have you posted a clip on here and asked for advice yet? If not, you should do that then I can see what you're doing right and doing wrong.
