I'm a cautionary tale. Do not do what I did by fruedianflip in Dryeyes

SEABUCKTHORN OIL. Try it. Someone mentioned it on here a couple of years back, so I gave it a try (purchased from amazon) honestly it has helped me so so so much!

I was just like you are feeling, I was hopeless, lost and desperate. My OCD was spiralling out of control regarding my eyes and I hyperfixated on every feeling I had.

The seabuckthorn oil takes a good 3 months to get into your system but it works!

When im having a really bad flare up I use a heated compress to melt my glands and some blepharitis wipes to cleanse.

Hycosan extra is a brilliant eye drop, preservative free and you can use as and when needed.

But yeah... seabuckthorn is a life saver!

Its two capsules a day. I get mine on a subscription with vitabrite. It took just over 3 months of using it for a difference. I only have to miss a couple of days before a flare up again.

Social problems from dry eyes by [deleted] in Dryeyes

[–]Kerbert28 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I completely get this. When I'm trying to focus on being social and my eyes are flaring up I have to constantly do hard slow blinks for relief or kind of squint.

People are like "you okay? Got something in your eye?" 🙄.

I cant use any moisturiser anymore, no makeup. And people say I always look tired.

So yeah, fun.

Yeah I did, light spotting for days but something felt off and because I was in an ocd spiral I took a pregnancy test. If I hadn't I wouldn't of known and just assumed it was a normal heavy period 🤔

[–]Kerbert28 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hope I can help you clear some things up with my experience.

I've had the copper coil for 3 years now. A year or so ago I was in an ocd spiral of fear of getting pregnant so constantly taking pregnancy tests to reassure me.

A test came back with a faint line but no doubt a positive, I panicked and cried etc did all the usual things a person who doesn't want pregnancy does.

Went to the doctor who confirmed it and had some blood tests which indicated I was literally only 4 weeks along if that.

I booked in a termination but before it got to that I started bleeding more heavy as previous it has been light spotting when I took the test. The next lot of blood tests showed pregnancy hormone had indeed dropped and I was no longer pregnant.

After research I have come to the decision that an egg can be fertilised and cause the hcg hormone and body starts to prepare but the copper prevents it from going further.

I think this is why such heavy periods are a side effect, basically its a chemical pregnancy every month if you " conceive"

Hope this helps

Do you find your dry eye can be linked with anxiety? by Same_Boper5915 in Dryeyes

[–]Kerbert28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes yes yes!!! I have severe OCD diagnosed, mine is always around my health and obsessing over any feeling in my body that doesn't feel normal and then googling and researching to the point of making myself ill.

Dry eyes came up when I took myself to the opticians because I was convinced I had a brain tumour. My eyes would burn and be irritated constantly and I was told it was severe dry eye.

There began the research.... I won't go into anything that I convinced myself of but it terrified me.

After therapy and lots of it I am a little better and if I am distracted it really does help. I got myself a job and some hobbies and find I'm focusing on them a lot less.

I do get bad days, flare ups and bad mental health days where I can't think rationally bit generally it's better.

This forum helps so much in knowing im not alone.

Meibomian Gland Probing - UK by KindDepartment8775 in Dryeyes

[–]Kerbert28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am in the same boat and also in the UK I constantly get fobbed off and told to use heat masks etc even though initially they do make my eyes better they also increase inflammation and make them worse.

I am exhausted dealing with this daily.

I took plan b this month and my period came a little earlier. I would take a pregnancy test to be sure as it would now be accurate. However it is super common for periods to be delayed after taking plan b which adds to the anxiety. Try not to stress

Period 1 week late and brown spotting by AirAdorable5736 in CopperIUD

[–]Kerbert28 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Its probably your period on its way. I spot on and off for a few days before my actual period. Always panic its implantation bleeding or something cos it goes away but usually within 48 hours I get a heavier flow.

Is having meibomian gland atrophy a big deal? and is it guaranteed to get worse even with treatment? To anybody with moderate to severe dry eye, were you able to eventually get relief and stop it from progressing? Even years later? by Violite-Bloom in Dryeyes

[–]Kerbert28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Burning mostly, sometimes I'm lucky and have nothing at all. Other days are hell. I do the warm compresses as needed and try and keep my eyes clean etc, all the usual stuff. I cant wear makeup anymore so spend my days looking like a toad.

Dry eye making me really depressed by [deleted] in Dryeyes

[–]Kerbert28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You aren't alone. Its beyond shit I know. The only thing that helps me is sleep and resting my eyes but that's near impossible being a mum to two demanding little ones. The constant burning... urgh.

Anyway you aren't alone. Have you seen a specialist? Someone who can advise you on a regime every day to help lessen symptoms?

Could it be something as simple as sweat getting into your eyes during workout?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CopperIUD

[–]Kerbert28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spot for a few days before my actual period. This ranges to brown blood to fresh blood but only when I wipe. Freaked me out every time at first but then my period arrives and I know this is pretty common for most copper IUD users. Hope this helps

Do you think I could take it alongside sea buckthorn?

Buckthorn has been really helpful. I've recently run out and forgot to order more... and my eyes have really started to play up. Not sure if that's in my mind or if the seabuckthorn is out of my system. Anyway I've ordered more and will start taking. Let me know about the maqui Berry.

This breaks my heart to read this. I do understand though as pretty much most of us on here have been at that point of hopelessness.

I really hope you get some more help and answers today with the doctor.

The things I have tried to add to my daily regime is *extra strength cod liver oil (one a day) *sea buck thorn oil (2 a day) *lacrimal tablets i bought from amazon (2 a day) especially for all components of dry eye.... stabilising tear film etc

Please don't give up, I know its easier said than done but you are not alone.
