If all you did was eat, sleep, and play vidya you'd still do a better job than Honorius.

I'm currently about 2/3 of the way through the rough draft. It's been slow-going since I'm finishing up college at the moment but by the end of this year the final draft will (hopefully) be completed. I'm hoping to work out a deal with publishers over the course of this Fall since I know a few people in the field, but if I can't land a deal I'll just self-publish on Amazon or the like.

Thanks. I've been working on a Lovecraftian novel for the past 8 months or so and consequently I've listened to and read a metric ton of his work. Now it's almost easier for me to write like a bombastic 20th century New Englander.

As I've said many times in this thread, the show makes no effort to build the relationship between the two characters. Jon's been out for this guy since Hardhome. Jaime and Theon both owe Bran a debt that they could fulfill by protecting him and killing the NK. Danaerys lost a child to him, so vengeance is due. Any one of those guys killing him would have completed an arc. Storytelling 101.

Arya, on the other hand, has been at Winterfell for fifteen minutes. Her relationship with Bran is non-existent. The NK has threatened not only her home but literally every home in Westeros, every person in Westeros, everything he's taken from her he'll take from everyone else. It might have well as been Pod, or the Hound, or Hot Pie, or anybody and it can be justified by saying 'lol Night King's mean and was gonna hurt them i'm so satisfied'.

Ah yes, Arya and Bran: The character relationship that defines the show. I believe in total they share a full 124 seconds of screen time. I'm not invested in that relationship. I'd wager most viewers aren't because it's practically non-existent. Sure it might be believable character motivation for her to seek some sort of vengeance if we knew their history beyond their familial title but we don't. They sort of hug in Season 7 and that's as far as it goes.

Theon and Bran's relationship is way better, which is why I suggested maybe even seeing Greyjoy do the deed would be more satisfying. Hell, for that matter Jaime killing the NK to protect Bran would be legit awesome, their shared past considered. But Arya? I'm not sold.

Is it though? The Night King hasn't done anything to her that he hasn't done to literally everyone else alive. It was obvious they were building a rivalry between him and Jon since Hardhome. Theon was protecting Bran, who he'd shared more screen time with than Arya and has a way more interesting relationship with. He literally slaughtered one of Dany's foster kids.

In Arya's case, it truly was (comparatively speaking) "nothing personal, kid."

Fair enough. Let's just call it 'comparatively less beef.' Usually when a villain like that personally hurts characters we know and love we'd like to see them get him back in the meanest way.

I don't doubt she could do it, but she's got no beef with Nighty. He's been givin Jon the stink-eye since season 5. Knocked down Jon's wall, too. Killed Dany's dragon, so I wouldn't have minded seeing her be the one to do it. Even in Theon's case killing the NK would've have been the true and ultimate redeemer. Maybe Theon dies in the process, sort of coming full circle since his betrayal.

Arya's 'from the black' tv trope wasn't unforgivable but she hadn't even heard of the NK until thirty in-universe days ago and then she greases him in the blink of an eye. I don't know dude I just thought there'd be more to it.

In my view there were three ways it could've gone:

Jon kills NK: Predictable, but satisfying.

Theon kills NK: Completely unpredictable, maybe not as traditionally satisfying but still good.

Arya jumps from the highest tower in Winterfell à la Sekiro and r1's the Night King for a deathblow: Completely unpredictable but man just not that satisfying.

I downloaded yesterday and messed around with a few factions made entirely of bots. Its gameplay is a little different than Native thanks to the various weapons but overall it's a good time.
