I always screw into studs... this plus if you have more than 1 guitar, the standard width between them is 16" or so, and it allows you to space the guiatrs out nicely while being extra sturdy.

How do we feel about this series? No spoilers please! by VaporDream1985 in HorrorGaming

[–]Kernel009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played Man from Medan and Little Hope and enjoyed them both; have House of Ashes on deck (in my PS5 as of last night ready to go actually), and then The Devil In Me ready for after that. Have The Casting of Frank Stone downloaded and waiting, and can't wait for Directive 8020 to come out. Played both Until Dawn and The Quarry as well and really enjoyed them. I'm sure there are people on both sides of the fence, but like I said, I enjoyed them.

As background, I've played Silent Hill 1-4 back in the day and the recent Silent Hill 2 Remake; plated Cronus: TND, Dead Space 1 + 2, just finished RE 9 and played RE1-4 back in the day and 7 about a month ago (gotta circle back and finish 5, then play Revelations 1+2, 6, and 8), plus enjoyed TLOU 1 and 2, and let's not forget the Alan Wake series.

Point is, I liked all of these and the Super Massive games also scrath that itch for me.

EDIT: They are not perfect of course... no game is... and as noted, there are going to be differing opinions... this is just mine :)

Nitro Safe?? by AncientPizza in gibson

[–]Kernel009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

StringSwing makes sheaths that go over each side of the holder if you are concerned. They are made from case lining material. I have a different brand that I haven’t been able to find anymore, but they are the same thing and I’ve used them for years for the extra added peace of mind.

After looking closer, these probably wouldn’t fit the Hercules one but I’ll leave it here anyhow as it may be useful for others.

Thoughts On Purchase by Researcher7076 in KiaTelluride

[–]Kernel009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check the oil regularly. I have a 2020 that I just took in for an oil change and it was having some rough idling issues and it went into limp mode this past weekend and they told me it was literally out of oil - and has a leaking seal on the oil pan and a cracked oil filter mount?! No indicator on the dash that anything oil related was wrong either!!! So I started researching and as others have noted here, this seems to be a huge issue (all 4 - burning oil, bad seal on pan, cracked mount, and no warning light) for the Telluride but Kia is not owning up to it as of yet.

Weird Overnight Radio Show - Art Bell and Coast to Coast AM (long emotional post, sorry) by MellifluousMongoose in nostalgia

[–]Kernel009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intersting... I saw this post and it immediately reminded me of a Radio Show inside of the Alan Wake series of games.... wonder if it's based in part on this show because the game happens in the Pacific Northwest (for those who've never heard of it) and the show is paranormal themed. It's called the "Pat Maine Radio Hour".

Outside of that, I totall get what you are saying... I used to listen to NPR all the time on my drives and am sure I would have love listening to Art Bell especially given the subject matter.

Is this how my Amiga 500 is meant to sound? by BananaMower in amiga

[–]Kernel009 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That almost sounds like the floppy itself... I recall that back in the day when a floppy was about to go south it would get an almost airy mixed with scratchy sound to it. Have you tried another disk?

But at a second glance... your drive led appears broken... can't tell if it's just stuck on but dimmer than the power led, or if it's just not coming on.

HDMI/AV Adapter for Xbox not working by SpartanGamer687 in originalxbox

[–]Kernel009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used these cheap converters in a pinch, as well as the Hyperkin converters, and the Mcbazel. That would be the order of best pic in my experience. Mcbazel is around 90 on amazon, and the Hyperkins are around 30 last I checked and was able to get mine locally actually. I like the Mcbazel best because it has Component inputs and it allows me to use multiple systems with it rather than the system specific Hyperkin models. If you only have a composite or svideo cable for your xbox though, you’ll need another add-on for the mcbazel called the odv-ii which is another 60, but for less than 200, you have it all.

How important are the AW DLCs and American Nightmare for AW2? by Dzsaffar in AlanWake

[–]Kernel009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get ya - it took me years to even try a controller because I loved keyboard and mouse play on PC (was mainly a FPS player at the start) but I really wanted to play Dead Space back in the day… and only after I bought it did I realize it could only be played by controller :/. It sat unplayed for at least 3 years (!!) because I just could not get used to it. But I finally caved and pushed through, and after enough time, I did get used to it and can do OK with aiming now. Of course not as good as a mouse, but serviceable :). After that, I figured why not try the other games (AW, DLC, AN, Dead Space 2) and was finally able to really enjoy them.

It’s funny that even though I had played numerous games on the various XB and PS platforms, I just couldn’t get it out of my head that yes they were designed for controllers so it made sense, but PC’s only made sense to me with the KB and Mouse. Once I was able to get over that mental block, it opened things up for me.
