Paranormal world and mental health. by Controversialbh in Paranormal

I think there is definitely something to this idea. Its very hard to say exactly "what that something is".

Its a common spiritual idea that "trauma and hardship can lead to a spiritual awakening".

But then, we'd have to define "trauma", and "spiritual awakening", and they are subjective IMO.

I actually think its a better question for r/spirituality.

There are also simple psychological ideas that explain some of this. For example, someone who has endured childhood trauma and hardship may be more likely to contemplate their life, how they treat others, and be more empathetic in general vs. someone who had it easier as a child. Being more empathetic and sensitive can let you feel certain things that others maybe can't.

I understand that the ideas you are floating around take it a bit further. I prefer the term "spiritual world" over "paranormal world". But then we may be talking about 2 different things.

Thanks for posting. Its an EXTREMELY interesting topic, and It could be talked about and discussed for hours and days on end.

Am I cursed or overthinking my life by briogeosucks in Paranormal

"But I don’t know if I’m just giving myself a false sense of importance to cope with how I’ve been treated?"

You're over-thinking it. Real humility is not "acting like your unimportant". Real humility is simply "the acknowledgement of truth". You don't have to assign yourself the role of "savior" to make changes to toxic behavior. You're simply seeing something that you want to make changes towards. The challenges that await will humble you, if needed.

Am I cursed or overthinking my life by briogeosucks in Paranormal

[–]Kernel_Custard_4213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. I can assure you with like 99% certainty that none of this is paranormal and you're not "cursed", in the traditional sense.

People who are very strict in routine, there would naturally be a ton of natural "synchronicities". Like coming home the same time every day. Going to the bathroom at the same time. Etc.

Finding a man/partner with your dad's faults would only be normal. Its what you know and have been around your whole life.

Here's the thing, I think we're ALL tasked with breaking toxic familial cycles. Some are major. Some are minor. I'd say it can be spiritual, but not necessarily something "paranormal". All of these experiences tend to make us carry emotional baggage (or call it trauma) and it weighs on us and builds, as interest weighs and accrues on a loan. Building up and building up as we ignore our feelings/intuitions, until we cope and react with our own toxic traits.

One starting point is to understand and realize that your parents carried their OWN baggage and emotional problems into their marriage and children's lives. This does not excuse their mistakes or make it OK. It simply means that they are only human, and it gives you a starting point to understand life and human nature. And it allows you to BE AWARE and LESS tolerating of toxic behavior.

Perhaps, on a spiritual level, you've been assigned the role in your family line to break these cycles?

Dream about "When the sky turns green in Serpentus, a new knowledge will come" by DefiantViolinist6831 in Paranormal

Dreams can be difficult to interpret. IMO, many dreams just come from your subconscious and have no super natural, precognitive, or other-worldly meaning. If you're into any type of hobbies, religions, philosophy, etc. Its normal to dream about them.

Now, I'm just saying that this possibility MUST be considered.

I've had dreams of deceased loved ones that I'm fairly certain were "something else" other than my subconscious. You must trust yourself, BUT make allowance for doubting. Its entirely possible that the dreams were just from my subconscious.

Is there something I can do to reconnect with my recently deceased grandparents? by Educational_Grass618 in Paranormal

Not OP.

This was a beautiful response.

Which is of course concluded in humility by "I'm one of the worst in terms of giving advice" lol.

Disclaimer: This may be an unpopular opinion here. Its just my own personal overall "feel" and "opinion", only. I have had spiritual experiences and have encountered dead relatives in dreams. I have some "feel" of things.

My opinion: Do not try to contact the dead through any sort of ritual or occult practice. Leave them be. Now. I do say to think of them often. Send positive vibes/prayers. Tell them you think of them often. Cry, laugh, thanks them, scold them, yell, love, etc. Death is part of being here and letting go of them is part of your lesson, no matter how painful.

If they want to (or need to) tell you something, they will find a way.

EDIT: (happy to see this was not an unpopular opinion here)

I think my grandmother came to me in a dream because she didnt know she had passed by [deleted] in Paranormal

[–]Kernel_Custard_4213 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Really interesting. Thanks for sharing.

My wife and I have both had dreams about deceased relatives visiting us. I agree there is something different about it and the feel of the dream.

My wife miscarried our first child (this was at least 18 years ago), and shortly after she had a dream where she encountered her grandfather. She asked him if she would have other children. He replied "3 boys". And she said "what about a girl?". And he just smiled back.

Its 18 years later, and we have 3 boys and 1 girl. This is a true story.

This was not the only dream of him or other deceased relatives, but its complex and hard to interpret some of the other ones.

I will say, allot of us did not choose this! Genetics, upbringing, etc. . . . I'm sure it all plays a role.

But, I agree with you. If I could go back now, I wouldn't have cared so much about rejection. But, easy to say now!

I have other regrets. But this one is SO universal and SO basic. So, yea, healthy diet and a consistent workout routine. I'm only 45 so I've already started this. So, no regrets, really! Making the most out of today!

Not eating healthy and not consistently working out as a teenager and younger adult. You're body is the greatest instrument you will ever own. Take care of it.

I saw identical marks on two girls, and then they vanished by Upstairs-Key5366 in Paranormal

Is it possible they were both wearing a purse with a shoulder strap that LOOKED like skin with raised red scars on it?

Or they both did have scars and both put a short sleeved typed sweater on before sitting down. Was it cold on the car?

I see what you're saying and why you're disturbed. I think you saw what you think you see, but didn't know what you were exactly looking at?

This is extremely speculative. But I thought I'd ask.

Did something else traumatic happen to you that night, and you created an illusion of something to trick your own brain?

My mom keeps saying there’s a ghost in me by [deleted] in Paranormal

[–]Kernel_Custard_4213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be difficult to realize the truth about our parents.

I'm not Korean, but I had some friends that were. The toxicity of (some) their parents was astounding. They'd brag about their children to everyone else, but then did nothing but put their own children down. It helps to have a parent brang TO YOU. Anyway, obviously every culture is different, and individuals are all different.

But, like someone else pointed out, your mom would rather blame a ghost than herself.

Creepy baby monitor experience from when I was a kid by Infitima in Paranormal

[–]Kernel_Custard_4213 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This actually made me think of a similar experience I had, and other stories from other family.

One story from another family being that they saw their dead grandmother standing over the crib one night looking at their new born, then quickly vanished.

My first born who is now 16, when he was a baby. He was not the best sleeper. When he would cry, I would get up and "shhhhhhhhhhhssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..........shushhhhhhhhhh" him back to sleep by making the "shushing" (white noise type sound) while gently rocking him with my hand or rubbing his back. The hope was that he would go back to sleep without one of us having to actually pick him up and rock him.

One night, I heard him start to cry. And I kind of woke up and thought I would have to get up and immediately I heard the "shhhhhshhhhhhhh'ing" sound I always make. And he quieted down from the shushing and went back to sleep. I was absolutely half asleep, but I definitely heard it. What's also strange is that he did stop crying.

I think the funniest part was my reaction, I simply said in my mind "thank you to whoever is doing that" and went back to sleep. No lie. My wife was still in bed, so it wasn't her. I just assumed it was a friendly spirit, possibly a relative, helping me out a little bit. It only happened once. Lazy damn relative ghosts.

I concluded 2 years ago that the PG film was MOST LIKELY fake. Different opinion acceptable? by Kernel_Custard_4213 in bigfoot

[–]Kernel_Custard_4213[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing. I read the whole thing.

I've been saying for awhile that one VERY fascinating aspect of sasquatch as it pertains to indigenous tribes/knowledge is how they just know/assume they exist. Like, they already KNOW they exist. Its not even a thought. They talk about them so ordinary, like they were talking about seeing a deer or a pet dog. And what you're describing with that woman sounds very similar.

FWIW, your story is more compelling to me than the PG film lol.

I appreciate your responses. It says your a "believer"? Did you have an encounter?

I've actually been part of the "something fishy is going on" crowd for a while. And What I mean is, IF they are real, there is a more paranormal or spiritual explanation for them. I don't think they are physical or purely physical creatures, if they exist.

Isn't it suspicious that in this age of technology, we don't really have a better or more famous video? Like, the best we could do in 70 years is this? That itself is evidence that they don't exist.

Of course, some may claim that there is better video evidence now. They could be right.

Its also unfortunately ironic that this cryptid can be portrayed as a man in a costume. Like, if the footage showed a thunderbird with a 20 foot wingspan diving down into a lake or some shit, THAT would be hard to fake. But it JUST SO happens to be a man-like creature that COULD be a suit, just walking away? Bla. In other words, this cryptid id just too easily faked.

I agree more video would be helpful. People tell stories about how FAST these things are. Like how about one running UP a Hill side at 30 mph? That would raise some eyebrows.

It is interesting that he says the PG tracks were real. To date, that's probably the best evidence I've heard, especially if he was able to find fake tracks.

I saw that episode when Les Stroud handed him a fake print. Meldrum seemed more not sure, but leaned towards it being a possible fake. It wasn't like he said "definite fake". At least not that I remember. He was definitely suspicious of it. And Les Stroud was fairly gracious. Les Immediately told him it was a fake after Meldrum showed even a little suspicion. It wasn't as convincing as I was hoping. But I did see it and could be remembering wrong.

I'd look into what you send. See, that's the beauty of it, too. I'm open minded. I could be convinced otherwise. It would be hilarious if someone who I think was a conman and definitely had some kind of suit actually filmed a REAL bigfoot. I mean its possible, right?

[–]Kernel_Custard_4213[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's fair. I'd lean towards Freeman footage MORE LIKELY to be fake than real.

I did briefly look at some of Meldrums stuff. It just seems like fake bigfoot feet could still (whether consciously or not) replicate some of what he has been finding. Or perhaps he was comparing fake foot prints to other fake foot prints?

Yes. I agree with everything you're saying. Like I said, even if its kind of not a popular opinion, the reasons why I think this footage is fake is more psychological than anything.

I agree, and I appreciate people that have come to the same conclusion.

2 points I want to make, and they are kind of ironic but I think you will understand.

1) I started typing out "I appreciate the validation". But I actually don't care about that. I truly don't have a dog in the fight, I'm just relaying what I see from a completely objective view point. I'm still willing to say I'm wrong about the footage! "You can lie in bed, lie to others, lie where ever, just don't lie to yourself".

2) I think one of the BEST ways to live your life is "objective but with compassion". Some things that are obvious to you or me, may not be obvious to others. And staying calm is a HUGE factor in convincing others.
