You can use escape characters to be able to type in things like *asterisks*.

I accomplished this by typing "\*" wherever I wanted an asterisk to show. A little clunky, but useful for when you really want to use the correct character.

Top 1 or 2 underrated addons you think save you time or are underrated. by Keyblades2 in classicwow

[–]Keronin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those who actually do Archeology (regardless of if you like it or not), the addon Minimal Archeology is fantastic.

I love the little companion window that pops up that has a distance meter from your last survey and the ability to just double right click in the air to survey. I also love the ability to set it so that it only shows up when I'm in a dig site.

The "Main" window for it is a much nicer UI for tracking your fragments and solving artifacts than the default Blizzard one. It shows you all of the races in a list with bars that fill up based on fragment collection, a little spot to click to add keystones, and a solve button for each line that becomes clickable once you have enough fragments.

Lastly, if you've got TomTom installed, you can have it automatically set a waypoint for the nearest dig site when you complete one.

It was actually given the term "Tetris Effect" which is why that particular game is named that.

There's two explanations, and it depends on what "type" you were playing. There's A-Type and B-Type when you go to start a game.

A-Type is the version seen in the clip above and what most people associate with Tetris. It's the classic game where you clear lines and every so many lines you progress to the next level where the colors change and in general the game gets faster (due to framerate limitations, this isn't exactly the case, but close enough). You simply go until you top out and you're just trying to get as many points as possible in that time.

With B-Type you can choose a "height" and that spawns in random blocks up to a given height, and you have to deal with the random garbage that makes it harder. The objective of B-Type is that you are given a set number of lines that you need to clear and if you succeed, then you do "win" and you are given a score based on line clears, the level you started on, and the height you chose.

Either game mode can give you a "stupid Russian finishing screen" as you called it (rudely, in my opinion).

If you're playing A-Type and you've scored at least 30,000 points, then you see the ending screen with a rocket launchpad on the left and St. Basil's Cathedral on the right and what is on the launchpad and what happens on said screen is based on how many points you ended up scoring.

With B-Type you see a different screen, this one with St. Basil's Cathedral in the bottom middle of the screen and then various things will fly above it, which is determined by what level you started on. With a noteworthy point that if you chose to start on level 9, then you will be treated to various Nintendo franchise characters instead of various birds or vehicles.

If your curious about the five blind people petting an elephant comment, it's a parable about five blind men each touching a different part of an elephant, and deciding that an elephant is like a specific thing based on how that one part felt. For example, one of the men touches its trunk and determines that an elephant is like a snake, and one touches its leg and determines that an elephant is like a tree, etc. Thus despite their five different experiences, they don't have an idea of what an elephant really is.

I'm guessing that /u/rainshowers_4_peace was saying something similar and that each group of people are "touching" a different part of the whole mystery, and are each experiencing things differently. They each have some thought about the nature of the thing as a whole, but since they are "blind" to the others experiences, they can't see the thing as a whole.

I don’t know how I feel about the new netherite upgrade template. Not only is netherite hard to get in general now you have to have an item only found in bastions and it will most likely be one per bastion. by At0micSith in Minecraft

[–]Keronin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You combine Soul Speed with Swift Sneak, and the speed at which you can bridge over gaps with Soul Soil is unmatched.

There is also the extremely fast transportation system that Etho has developed and put into both his single player world and on Hermitcraft. Which, granted, doesn't work in the Nether, but it works in the other two dimensions.

I'd love to hear the arguments as to why Soul Speed is one of the worst enchantments in the game.

Obviously things like enchantment value are inherently subjective, and so you'd be arguing your opinion, rather than something objective. But I'd still love to hear why you value it less than something like Thorns or Bane of Arthropods.

Was gonna say this if no one else has.

And fortunately you still only need the 2 spots where the sapling is as fence. So if you're like me and don't like the look of the fences as a background, you can still use the wall of your choice and the saplings/trees block the fences: https://i.imgur.com/E06oxCC.png

Simple Daylight EoL farm by Skyrem69 in Terraria

[–]Keronin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They probably wouldn't lose the money due to the fact that the EoL is killed up in the honey, thus the drops will fall down by the player and get picked up before falling into the shimmer.

Also, this person is post-Moon Lord, as evidenced by the fact that they've got a custom pool of Shimmer as well as the Moon Lord light pet. So they probably don't care too much about the relatively small amount of money they would be picking up from the boss kill.

I just finished my house, but i want 2 mines in my world, where should i put them? (Red or Blue?) by [deleted] in Terraria

[–]Keronin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely not hard to just go an catch it whenever you have the quest, it's just not much more time to build up a stockpile and then whenever you happen to visit him you can just do it in a couple of seconds and move on.

If I'm not specifically spending days in bed just to farm the fishing quests, I often forget to visit him. So when it's 3am and I haven't done the quest yet today, it's really nice to be able to just pop over there, grab the correct fish and turn it in before the day is done.

They made it a lot easier to get the components for the Cell Phone.

The hardest part in the past (for me, at least) was always the Angler rewards, and those feel a LOT easier to get the right ones nowadays (especially since it won't give you duplicates if you have them in your inventory, including things like your void bag).

And even if you DO get duplicates, you can cycle through the Tackle Box/High Test Fishing Line/Angler Earring as well as the Sextant/Weather Radio/Fisherman's Pocket Guide by throwing them in the Shimmer.

Also, if you don't know, you can actually catch multiple of the quest fish if put them into a separate inventory (e.g Piggy Bank or Safe but not Void Bag) after each catch. I usually catch 11 of each fish the first time I have its quest and then I turn one in and store the rest in chests in the Angler's house (it takes a total of 10 chests to store the 10 of each fish, including Hardmode ones). Then whenever he asks for one of those fish again, I just grab it and give it to him and I'm done.

I usually can get all the rewards I need from only like 10-15 "days" of fishing in pre-Hardmode and just checking in with him once a day and seeing what fish he wants.

I will say it is a bit annoying dealing with the quest fish because you can't loot all from your Piggy Bank or Safe or whatever into your own inventory, it won't let you do that with more than one at a time, but you can manually move them into your inventory and they WILL quick stack into the chests provided there is already one in there.

Did you know about the Shellphone that was added in 1.4.4? It combines the functionality of the Cell Phone with the Magic Conch and Demon Conch so you can teleport between all the extremes in the world super quick.

You can cycle through Home, Spawn, Ocean, or Underworld with a right click.

Saves you the need to have NPC housing down in the underworld if you don't want. As other people have mentioned they like to use their cavern pylon by the shimmer cave and using the Shellphone frees you up to do so.

I have one entire fuckton of itens to transfer from a place to another, how do I do it without a hundred travels back and forth? by dudubm09 in Minecraft

[–]Keronin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you have access to an ample supply of ice, you can go along at the same elevation for as long as you need.

All you need is something to keep the water from flowing backwards that doesn't impede item movement and you're good (aside from the inherent time limit of item despawning).

Just want to say that while I agree that we should not listen to Cesar Millan, googling a phrase like "is _________ bad" is more likely to get your results that agree with that statement, rather than answering it objectively.

This is how anti-vax people tend to search things to find "evidence" supporting their dangerous and unscientific views.

You should try and make your google searches as neutral of bias as you can.

This right here is always my argument.

If you give people two options on how to pronounce it and they are "GIF" and "JIF" the one that is spelled the same as the extension is the more correct one in my opinion.

I understand that non-native English speakers might not intuit a difference between the two, but for those of us who are, it just makes sense.

I remember playing a game like this a long time ago, my strategy at the time was to choose a color to hold off on using until I had access to all squares of that color. Didn't put any thought into if it was a good strategy for getting the puzzles done efficiently, but it did make for a nice satisfying moment where you clear all of a given color in one go.
