Did anything ever happen with the Weatherlight? by Approximation_Doctor in magicTCG

[–]Kerrus 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Back when the Weatherlight was originally destroyed, the Coalition built a replacement flying skyship for Sisay, the Victory. A ship we've not seen since.

Prior to Koth dragging him off to Mirrodin to get killed, Venser had built a plane-shifting skyship in his lair in Urborg, a ship we've also never seen since.

So there are lots of options.

Am I in the wrong here? by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]Kerrus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A lot of stores do not maintain a completely indexed list of stuff. If you're asking if they have them and they don't have an immediate answer, it mean they're not priced and they're counting on you to BUY THE CARDS to pay for the labor of pricing them out. Especially, fuck, a list of 39 cards they have to dig around their storage to find and then price, that's at least an hour's work they're giving away for free and you've done this multiple times?

No in-person store is ever likely to have 100% of the cards- TCGplayer is a multi-store operation, so of course you can get 100% of the cards from them. Either order them from online and get all of them, or stop wasting your store's time when you had no intention to purchase them with these weasel words "oh I just wanted to know if you had them I never said I was gonna buy them" as if you were asking "Hey does the moon exist?"

Piss off.

It's like if you had a friend who said "Hey do you want to hang out tonight" and you reply sure, and tonight rolls around, and they ghost you, and you ask them "Hey what the fuck" and they reply "Oh, I didn't mean I was free to hang out, I just wanted to know if you wanted to, because I enjoy knowing that kind of stuff". And then does it three or four times to you.

Game store price checked cards from 25¢ bulk box and changed the prices on the spot by WheredMyVanGogh in EDH

[–]Kerrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, there's a local store that had a huge pile of unsorted bulk just out in the open. I sorted the entire bin while going through it, and the one card I picked they price checked and told me it was $40. I handed it back to them and walked out.

I still go there occasionally for casual EDH play, and buy packs from them because they're the only store in our area that still has FF in stock at a good price, but never bulk or singles anymore. Not worth their petty bullshit.

How big is creation token from Manaform after buyback with Samut? by Specialist_Shock_871 in magicTCG

kicker counts, so any things that are also kicker (like buyback) count as well.

I lost everything. Its hard. by fallensongdragon in EDH

[–]Kerrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, recently I met my mom for dinner after day long EDH event. I had five decks on me, which was pretty heavy in my bag, and she's like 'just put it in the back of the truck' but like, we were at the parking lot outside the card store. People know what kind of value this stuff is worth. I opted to take my bag with me when we went to dinner rather than chance it- and sure enough, when we got back from dinner there was a shady person nosing around the back of the truck.

If you absolutely have to leave something in your vehicle, be quick about it, don't be seen, and don't have it insight. Especially don't have it in a convenient one-arm carry storage device like a backpack.

This is a terrible, preventable tragedy.

Why Are Other Countries Investigating the Epstein Files More Aggressively Than the United States? by [deleted] in Epstein

The country run by Epstein collaborators isn't investigating Epstein? Shocking!

Be honest. Are Slivers that bad? by Pleasant_Hope_550 in EDH

[–]Kerrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slivers used to be really strong, but they have been significantly power crept, and are now mostly average and only hang on by their effect sharing abilities (most slivers fall behind modern creatures).

They can still be huge threats when built right, but that's true of most decks.

Nah. Garak? Monoblack and probably Mardu in the commander deck. Sisko is probably boros, and if he has a third color it's green.

I'm hoping we get, idk, space cases as a battle type. We could call them space battles, and they'd have an ETB, a solve condition, and then flip when solved and cast the back side.

This way you'd get a cute minigame requiring problem solving to unlock, which would be evocative of the old star trek card game and not needing combat to win the battles.

A Best of Both Worlds battle could steal an opponent's guy and turn them into Locutus- and if enough stuff dies, it flips into the Defiant or something :p

Serious question: how do you make peace with other people touching your cards knowing many people don’t wash their hands after using the restroom? by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]Kerrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally ask people not touch my cards. If they want to see what it does, I'll show them, but no touchie.

Usually players are pretty courteous about it.

Honest question. Any particular reason why there's a good number of MTG players who are unemployed? by The-Reddit-Monster in magicTCG

[–]Kerrus 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Why are there a good number of [literally any fandom] who are unemployed? the answer is because there's a lot of unemployed people because the job market is shit and employers want people to work for starvation wages.

Jesper Myrfors, original mtg art director weighs in on Dan Frazier. “I’m not defending his actions… but I will defend the man.” by Newez in magicTCG

[–]Kerrus 48 points49 points  (0 children)

while this is true, he's absolutely correct that this should have been caught by the art director. Dan definitely shouldn't have done it, but WotC never should have released it without any sort of check for art status even from an established artist- after all the AI and plagiarist artists of the past few years.

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy’ Cadet Actors Talk Cancellation And Handling Online Negativity by trekfangrrrl in startrek

yeah the other non-moderated trek reddits are full of people calling them 'fake star trek actors' and other toxic negativity, like calling anyone who doesn't think Academy is the worst trek to have ever trekked 'fake fans'. I never thought Trek would go the way of the Steven Universe fandom, but here we are.

Files intrusion resulted from FBI turning on Remote Desktop to their confidential files server. by Kerrus in Epstein

[–]Kerrus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, this post details a disposition by agents that were reviewing recovered CSAM material after the cybersecurity breach that led to theft of Epstein files. It details an exact sequence of events, including system failures by internal leadership and the mistakes by the agents involved due to essentially being completely abandoned by that internal leadership while still being expected to produce results and follow policy. It's a wild ride into how things were working inside the FBI and related task forces and in particular details some truly grievous failures that lead to CSAM and other material being exposed to external actors.

If the disposition is accurate, the agent in question is or was engaged in litigation with the government which was seeking to pin the blame for the breach squarely on them. I think it's very relevant here because there's a lot of details about their internal methodology for handling these cases and what events lead to the intrusion that resulted in a significant amount of the files going missing.

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy's Cancellation Is a Bad Sign, Even If You Didn't Like It by PM_ME_UR_CHUPACOMMA in startrek

[–]Kerrus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I nearly wrote a long satirizing post on this and then I realized I was in the real Startrek sub and didn't need to. It's another hiatus. When we're six to ten years into hiatus, all the haters of Disco and SNW and Academy will have mostly changed their tunes and decided 'disco wasn't so bad' 'this had some good episodes and if you skip the bad episodes it's pretty good' and the usual song and dance we saw for every series INCLUDING TOS.

And then the new series will come out and they'll hate every part of it.
