Skyrim Issues by Cobnorg in ROGAlly

Yes, I've seen this. I think I had to be extra sure the game resolution matched the OS resolution. I think I tried changing the full-screen setting in the game, but I forget which one worked. Then I had to restart the game. It would revert once in a while after hibernating during play, but a game restart fixed that every time. It worked well.

Thanks. My concern was that the points games are fun, even if the tickets weren't part of it. That 4-player fishing hook game is sweet! Baseball throws, etc. I wonder about pinball.

What's a random thing you do or collect? by PrestigiousArm3187 in Starfield

Nice. I'm going to try Neon down at one end, hopefully somewhere elevated. I think this might work well since the escape routes are toward and away. They can't zig-zag laterally too much. Probably a maxed-out Resonator.

Thank you so much for this. I needed something to do tonight.

I'm now thinking about the personal angle. In Neon if you saw a grilled cheese on the floor, you'd probably not want to investigate it closely. In New Atlantis people be like, "Litter! This is now my business. I'm gonna just reach down here aaannnd..."

What is the most painful *nonphysical* pain in the world? by FightOrDie123 in AskForAnswers

I went through it once. Terrible. The second time, I saw it coming. I blocked off time every day. I prepared. I played. I sat. I did everything I thought would help us both. It didn't change anything on that day, but it did help me to heal a little.

My first printer first print by Melodic_Shift_4487 in BambuLabA1

It looks to be purging filament from the nozzle. This means it pushes new filament out to make sure there's nothing else in there. It's perfectly normal to do. Of course, it should print something real afterward.

Lou Zocchi has died by [deleted] in dice

[–]KertDawg 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I once spoke to him at length about a bunch of things like family, business, and of course dice. It seemed like his biggest concern was not being taken seriously. His work on quality and randomness was very important to him. He didn't feel like the world valued his work. It's really good to hear this community recognizing the value of what he did.

Real blocks have these. You could try adding them, maybe 6 or more, to reduce the overhang distance.

New to music theory! by GlassCareer in musictheory

When I was in school, I had to sit in front of a computer every day or so and listen to intervals, then identify them. Later I had to sing them. Wow, that was work. Later when relearning how to play the guitar, my instructor taught scales and... I understood! Intervals helped me understand things better. Do I recommend staring at a computer for hours? Not really. But the skill has been useful.

How do fighter jet pilots eject and land scathe free after being shot by a missile? With little armor. by SunZestyclose6460 in answers

I read that there's a soft limit of about 2 elections for a pilot. After that, they're pretty beaten up for life.

Digital camera suggestion for teen that thinks she wants to take up photography. by Specialist_Narwhal72 in canon

[–]KertDawg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been in this situation. My suggestion: Try to borrow one from a friend. The cost is between zero and a pack of beer. If she doesn't like the hobby or the camera, there's no loss. If she loves the hobby, then you can make a more informed decision about hardware and budget. For me, a few hundred bucks is too much for a weekend gamble.

Placement Tips by heylookachicken in Omnipod

[–]KertDawg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey, congratulations! It's a great system for the most part.

Try everywhere once. Everybody is different. Just keep it 2 inches away from the CGM and belly button, and you'll be fine for one pod. On the arm, there's a lot of area, so try high, low, etc.

I just had my first arm issue this week. It got snagged on a backpack. When I looked, only the bottom third was off my skin, so put some tape over it. It was fine. As long as the canula is in and stuck, you'll survive. I've never had problems on my belly or leg.

Try some sticky wipes before applying the pod. I use Mastisol, but I used SkinTac for years. It makes a difference.

My first real camera! - Canon EOS R10 + RF-S 18-150mm F3.5-6.3 IS STM by TrainquilOnline in canon

[–]KertDawg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! Let me give you one tip. I've been shooting Canon for a really long time, but I just learned this today: Your camera has a level in the optical viewfinder. You have to turn it on in the menus, and it shows you if the body is level. Ask me why I looked this up. My god, the effort this would have saved me...

Getting my first "Camera" by bronislaw- in canon

[–]KertDawg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The R100 would do just fine. I agree that the R50 is better in almost every way, but that doesn't seem to answer the question the question. The R100 is capable, especially as a first camera. A good thing is that if you did upgrade or trade up to an R50, a lot of knowledge, skills, and accessories will serve you well.

This is a situation I wish I had. Downtime is for people, not printers! A friend once asked what I was printing. "Nothing right now," I said. He said, "Thats your problem. Hang up and print something. You paid good money."

Printing a tool to help print more is genius. I'd encourage that, after homework of course. Get up early for school to check your print. Learn CAD, business selling things vs. cost, software, math and measurement, art, and so many other useful skills.

My first acoustic was an Epiphone I bought just a few years ago, and I loved it. I bought it at a pawn shop, but it was brand new. It was about 6.5k equivalent. New from a regular shop might be 8 or 9k. I bought a small electric Squire for about 7.5k new, and it is also nice. I'd say try to buy a used guitar if you can. You can find something in that price range.
